And btw a black panther can be other big cats not just jaguars and leopards, black tigers are rare but still exist

Yes, if not then it's because most people think panthers are a species of leopard or jaguar :3 Well there's two types of black panthers i think, one where the usual colour( so e.g. the tan colour on a leopard) is black or very dark, and one where the black patterns are so big/so many patterns, that it blocks out the normal colour :3
I've only seen photos of the tigers like second... type(?) :3

Actually, if you happen across a 'Black' tiger, it isn't considered a Jaguar, because it's still a tiger. Instead, you would refer to it as 'melanistic'. In all actuality, a black panther is just a melanistic jaguar. Melanism is the direct opposite of Albinism, a mutation that creates a darker pigment in the skin of an animal. While a mutation it is often a form of adaptation. Some organisms, such as the Melanistic Jaguar, have adapted to an environment that requires darker camouflage.
