Turn on your televisions, turn up the radios and listen, because the Hunger Games are about to begin. Grey days awake, as the Capitol gains more and more power over the people, the districts around it, the nation of Panem, surrendered to the cruelty of President Myrcell, fourth president of the country, who took President Snows powers two decades ago. The rebellions have been suffocated, all of them, without any exception. There isn’t any District 13 anymore, it has been destroyed. No rebel forces survive, all rebels have been tortured in public, in the televisions; and then their corpses have been hanged out in the streets of the Capitol.

Will you be chosen these games? Because every year, a competition has been held in Panem, the districts suffer while the Capitol laughs at them with their odd vowels and their high pitched tone, so funny to try and imitate. “Panen et Circences”, the old Romans said, bread and circus, food and entertainment, that’s what the Capitol needs to stay out of the rebellions, created out of the city, deep in the districts, and suffocated there. Because the Capitol doesn’t want any more rebellions, now Peacekeepers rules are severely enforced, and breaking the law brings death, with no exception. Whoever decides to disobey the authority, steal, kill or wound anybody, is taken to court, and sentenced to death.

Two tributes, a girl and a boy, are going to be chosen this year, just like has been happening every time [but once] in the history of Panem, since the Dark Days and the big rebellion from District 13. Their families will have to be witnesses of how their child dies in the arena, in a severe pain, without them by their side and with a long life to live cut by the dictator. Because these twenty four kids, twelve boys and twelve girls, have ages between 12-18 years, some of them are trained and some of them aren’t, but twenty three of them share the same luck: death, a coffin, tears.

But the show must go on. And what’s a show without pretty people there: they need strange haircuts, birght skins, no wounds or pimps, occasional smirks, grins to the public, to gain their affection, so they get gifts in the arena, where cruelty is allowed to the extreme. All this televised, a deathly reality show, where the strongest is not always who wins. This is not a dream you can wake up of, it's a nightmare that will chase you all your life to your last breath.

Today, however, is a special day. To commemorate the century and a half of this “government” our dictator, President Myrcell, chose to hold a Quarter Quell, which hasn’t been held since Snow’s rebellion. In this Quarter Quell, the Gamemakers decided to honor the deceased tributes Peeta and Katniss, who fought together in the arena, making a pair. The Head Gamemaker decided that this Quarter Quell would be fought by pairs, with the opposite gender tribute from your district or other surviving tributes. At the end, both will fight to death.

Now hush and listen up, because they may be reading your name. Remember: may the odds be ever in your favour.

The chosen arena is a small amount of rocky, five to be more accurate, covered by a forest, tall cliffs and a few beaches. The islands are enough away from the continent so it can’t be seen, but when the tide goes down; the continent is accessible by feet, as well as the other islands. This is extremely risky, because it’s very hard to climb or to find a way to reach the continent before the tide goes up again, swallowing everything. Islands 1, 3 and 4 have beach, but islands 2 and 5 are only accessible by a tree covered shore the first one, and a natural cave with a sweet water lake inside the second. This is a perfect place to hide, but there’s a problem: it only has one way out. Island three is crowned by a small mountain, where a small river born and goes down to the beach, forming waterfalls and small lakes on its way. This is also a resource of sweet water. Island one beach is surrounded by cliffs and the only way out is a small crack between them. From the top of one of the cliffs, there’s a small cleft, enough to hold three or four people who, covered with leaves and branches of the surrounding forests, could be there protected and be aware of everyone entering of leaving the island. Island four also has a small “safe” place, a shack located in the middle of the forest.

The Cornucopia, where all the supplies and the weapons are placed, is located in the middle of the sea. When the tide is down, the Cornucopia lies in the sandy surface some meters in front of the first island, but when the tide goes up again, the Cornucopia floats, held by a floating surface, linked to the base of the sea. When the tributes are released, the tide is down, until they finally reach the Cornucopia and it starts to go up quickly, so the tributes have to swim to reach the islands. The islands have common flora and fauna, but they also have some unique (and dangerous sometimes) species. The forest on all islands is an Atlantic forest, with high trees such as pines, oaks or poplars, except on island two where there’s a small amount of jungle, which trees are the main resource of water: their big leaves get all the water, making them a sort of glasses. Island three beach is covered by mollusks when the tide is low. Most of them are poisonous, due to the food they eat in the sea. Poisonous are too the flowers of island four, where the bright variety of exotic flowers may mislead the tributes: each one of them is poisonous. Their objective: leave you unprotected so other tributes have the opportunity to kill you, if the flowers haven’t killed you by that time. They exhale a poisonous, but very provocative and attractive essence, which will activate the tributes need of “love”. Meaning: it will make everyone to look at their partners with other eyes. Excessive exposition to their aroma, more than an hour, may lead to a slight madness, nightmares or visions, craziness.

But surely no one would notice; they would be as sick as you. If someone, at this moment, decided to kill you, you wouldn’t have a chance to save your life. The illness continues with nose bleeding, blindness and finally death. This is only about the flora, but the fauna in these five islands is wild and savage, most of them aren’t controlled by the Capitol and aren’t mutts, just adaptations to these hard islands. Each island hosts a strange race of spiders, blue with lighter stripes, whose venom paralyzes to death. The only mutt the Capitol introduced where the sharks. Black sharks with blue and grey spots in their sides, which can “walk” five meters into the earth, jump higher and swim quicker. The alteration lies on their jaws. Each one has a metal, which, in contact with human blood, segregates a yellow greenish purulence which infects the people around by direct contact. The frogs are also poisonous: each one of the size of a fingernail, extremely silent and innocent looking, and they'll kill you at their first chace. The only good thing they have are their bright colors, toxic yellow, flame red, sunset orange or cobalt blue, easy to spot during the day, and also during the night.

Alessandra is a greek name, adapted by the Italians from Alexandra, given to her just because they liked it. They were thinking of different names, such as Anne, Cassandra or Karina, but they finally choose this one. Her second name is her father's aunt name, French, from the Hebrew phrase "God is my judge"

Alessandra's not a model, and she wouldn't like to be one of them, but she's not the ugliest girl on earth either. Maybe she could be classified as normal, some boys like her, and some others don't. Just the average. Her body is not made only great breast and a slim stomach and she's not indestructible, or has any hidden source of force appart from her power. No, that's just fantasy. Alessandra isn't fat, but if she lifts her shirt you'll find she's slim enough to eat what she wants whenever she wants to. That’s fantasy, but she admits she’d like to have more muscles, enough to be a little tougher, but not enough to become a culturist. Alessandra just doesn’t want to be one of them, it doesn’t seem healthy or beautiful. She’s tall and well built, and that seems enough for her, since she’s very healthy.

At first sight, the first things you focus on are her eyes: blue. But the color goes further than just a simple blue; it reminds you of something, something that’s present in everyone’s remembrances: sea. Between the different shades of blue you find in the sea, on the surface, where the fishes swim, or deep inside where the light doesn’t reach, the shade of blue you’re looking for is located on the surface, but not near the beach. Deep into the ocean, in the middle of a storm. The sea appears blue, but with jade and grey shades too. That’s what you can find on Alessandra’s eyes. They start green from the blackness of the pupil, and then they move to a deep icy blue, which ends up in grey. But then you move on, to her hair. Again, the average, nothing special. It’s not dyed in electric blue, combed into a special way (sometimes she doesn’t bother on combing it anyways) or with a specific cut. Hair, just normal hair. Alessandra culs it or straightens it, very often, but it's naturally wavy, with little curls down. It starts with a light brown, like weath, but then it turns blonde, very blonde. Maybe you could classify it as "californian blonde", although Alessandra is from New York, a proud New Yorker.

Alessandra believes everyones position in the society is based on the elegance, the way you move and look at other people, not only by money or power. Elegance, for her, is also the way you combine things, or if you're wearing something that makes you fat or your legs look like sausages. People, in her opinion, need to control that as good as their tonges in required moments. She takes care of keeping always her chin high, looking forward and directly in the eye of the person she's talking to. To move correctly, walking, running or just standing, Alessandra took dancing classes during her free time three years, leaning very useful things such as balance and postures, how to keep her back from combing or how to bent down in a good way.

You may start Alessandra psychological description with this word, and then you may continue, but keep this word in your head all the time. Because most of her personality will be based on this word. She tends to think about something, have an opinion about it, she’s very critical about some themes. But then she opens her mouth and you discover how she really is, willing to change her own opinion in benefit of her social position. You can be popular, you can be gorgeous, but if she dislikes you at first sight you have many few chances she’ll like you in a near future. But she’ll still talk to you, look at you and laugh with you about stupid things and jokes. And in a way you won’t discover how much she dislikes or hates you.

Oh, there’s also another word you can use to describe her sometimes. Bad, Alessandra is bad. And she’s not afraid to admit it, and she doesn’t regret being bad most of the times. It’s part of her, and she is proud of it, maybe because it’s a reason why people like her sometimes, because it’s someone that they can hide behind. When you hurt her, or her friends/family/etc, one time, just one time, you’re giving her a reason, an excuse to ruin your life as much as she can. All her efforts, thoughts, will be used against you. If it’s in her hand, she’ll make your life something not very different from hell. This comes from all the anger, held through the years, and sometimes all this has to go out.

Alessandra will fight and bite to defend her honor, and will never back down. She'll never shut up when someone is trying to beat her. Her tonge can be fast and her words can be bitter and full of regret. She does not take well to others intruding or snooping around her personal life, that's why it's called "personal life". She has a fiesty, fiery soul, but if she's angry is better to stay away from her. She has bad temper, but she tries hard to controll it. Anyways, sometimes she has to let it out. And you shouldn't be around when that happens. Romantic is not an adjective you can use with her, is much the opposite. When she's in love, it's kinda hard for her to find the right words, and ends messing up everything. But if you stand this (as a friend or something more) you'll discover a girl who doesn't know what self-confidence means, who only had some real friends, and all of them were took away from her in different circumstances. The ice cold girl you see is no more than a reflect of what she wants to be, but deep inside she's full of emotions. If you hurt her, her feelings or one of her friends, she'll become your enemy and she'll show no mercy. She'll try to make you suffer as much as she can, and she won't give up on that. She has a soft spot, though all this, but first you have to find it and stay on it for a long long time. Then, when that happens, that's when you have her heart -if it happens to be one-. Don't dare to go against her or try to change her mind, she'll end up hating you and trying to shrink your popularity status -if you have one-, making your friends go away. Alessandra can make your life a hell, she'll never leave you alone.

Her adventure started when the first leave started to fall. It had been a very long summer, which was becoming a very hot autumn, but her mother didn’t expect her until winter, December or January, when the cold arrives and trees scatter naked without their leaves around the forest. Everyone was around the forest, not bothered by the Peacekeapers, but aware of their nearby presence. They were who saved Alessandra. Her mother had dismay and started to cough, and old women noticed she was breaking waters. But they were too far away from the hospital, very far from the nearest village.

It wasn’t the first pregnancy for Alessandra’s mother, but it wasn’t the first unexpected one, the first premature daughter. Alessandra’s mother, Liennen, and a group of Peacekeepers and other older women found a shack deep in the forest, not too far away from their position. The little baby went out of her mother’s womb pretty easy, but her mother wasn’t having a good recuperation. Liennen was losing too much blood, and it continued bleeding all the travel back to the village, with the baby and the wood.

The wind had picked up, and Skylar, a young, eight year old girl, was running along in the fields. Her long brown hair was pushed back from the breeze. "Yes. But she will definitely grow up to be something." Derek, her father, added, a smile creeping on his face. Yes, this memory was definitely a happy one. Skylar's parents were proud of her, and Skylar definitely did grow up to be something. But it sucked that they would have to give her up to the foolish Hunger Games. But they had no clue that the games existed. But they would definitely come. In ten years, when Skylar was eighteen. Skylar was around eleven when her little brother was born. She was so happy. The athletic girl would 'race' him when he was a toddler, always pretending to fall or go as slowly as a turtle so he would win by stumbling across their invisible finish line. Oh, the family of District Eleven was so happy. But it was only a few years to come until their daughter would be taken away to be slaughtered for other people's entertainment.
Skylar was starting to become a stubborn fifteen year old, only three years until the great surprise would hit her. Her brother was now around thirteen years old, and wanted to be just like his older sister when he grew up. But how? Skylar would always think. She would always think that she wasn't that special, and that all she was was just a stupid fifteen year old. The day the reaping came was like a huge tidal wave that smacked them in the face. Their two children were vunerable to be chosen, and when the person to choose the people from the ball picked out Skylar's name, they were devestated. In addition, in schools children were taught of a very ancient civilization, Greece, who worshipped many gods- one being the goddess Athena, who was considered the most intelligent of the gods. Athena's middle name is Isa, meaning "God's promise". Before Athena was born, her mother had trouble falling pregnant, and when Athena was born, she made her middle name symbolic to the gift of having a daughter. And finally, Athena's last name is not something chosen by anyone, but means "a person who sacrifices greatly in order to advance a cause". Athena's family is greatly like this, and their last name strangely suits their behaviors.

Athena's mother had been housed in the local hospital for a few days now, heavy from the pregnancy. Athena was one of two children born- the other being a sickly baby boy. In the womb, Athena had grown in the part of the stomach which provided more nutrients, and therefore is indirectly responsible for the death of her brother moments after he was born. His name was supposed to be Ames, but he lived barely five minutes past birth. Even the medical doctor hired off the plenty of money the Martyr family lived off of, Athena was the only baby to live of the two.

Also, she is able to fish very easily.

Its how she holds herself, how she struts, how she sleekly moves through her surroundings, that make her eye-catching. Okay, now, let me begin to describe Athena in a way you might understand what I mean.

Athena's face is shadowed by her long, cascading ebony hair which falls to the end of her ribcage. She has a natural, glowing hair shade which during the winter appears dark and rich, like the bark of an elm tree. During the summer months, Athena's hair naturally transforms into a more glowing shade, almost matching the color of the famous Redwood trees by District 1. With lengthy, perfectly curled locks, Athena never brushes her hair unless it is freshly washed- simply because brushing thick, wavy hair only results in an unflattering poof. Athena's hair frames her face nicely, with natural layers making her face glowing and bright.

A peachy glow with brown, dappling freckles dotting her cheeks create the mark of a District 4 resident, since they are out in the sun so often they get a radiant, warm tan. Athena's face has a round, plumper shape, and is very smooth compared to her father's more angular, sharp complexure. She has a very slight upturned nose, that is indentical to her mother's. The clarity and perfection softness of her skin is due to the constant contact with water- she is always swimming in ocean, pool, or river water. With dark, chocolate brown eyes that twinkle with warmth, Athena's eyes are very beautiful. Rich like chocolate and smooth like velvet, her gaze is sweeping and natural. With faint, almost unnoticeable amber and yellow flecks, the highlights of her eyes bring out a bright and welcoming undertone that subconsciously wills yourself to talk to her. She has a angelic, petit appearance that takes two or three years off of her age-approximation, and most people assume she is a fourteen year-old.

With a thin, light, and lithe build, Athena is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She is nimble on her feet, able to dodge almost any blow and outrun her enemy with ease. She has a natural tendency to lean forward on her toes, adding to the reasons why Athena is able to be so speedy and agile. She naturally has a skinnier build, due to her high metabolism, but the little she does have on her are muscles. While she may not be strong, burly, or in any way able to wrestle someone, she does have higher than avergae arm and leg strength, due to the intensity of the muscle use during swimming in her district. In a nutshell, Athena is lean, cherubic, and beautiful.

The yellow and amber flecks in her eyes add to a delightful sparkle, and tend to create a kaleidoscope affect when in the sunlight.

Minus a slight hint of blonde-brown tips due to the chrolination of the pools Athena swims in around her district, Athena's hair is naturally a firm, solid color and doesn't hightlight of lowlight throughout. With thicker hair folicles and width, Athena's hair is naturally long and wavy, and is thick and luxorious when naturally flowing down her back. There are no split ends due to the fact Athena doesn't bother doing silly things like straightening her hair like other girls at her age and wealth.

Since this is Panem, many many years past the stage of countries and ethnicity variety, Athena is a simple Caucasian, and has the skin color of most other people in her district- minus a few African Americans, but they tend to inhabitat the districts further to the east and south. Naturally Athena has a tan complexion because of the consistency and density of her time in the sun, and freckles speckle her cheeks, nose, and arms.

[ w e a p o n ] Dominic is accustomed to having to pick through the scraps of others, so finding a useful weapon from whatever it is that may be left at the corn after everyone has taken their fill and bolted is the plan that Dominic wants to use though he knows from the games before that that is the worst plan a tribute can formula. He plans to go for some throwing knives since they come in bundles - he figures since they are knives they can be us like knives - throwing them at moving targets is such a waste.
[ s t r e n g t h s ] agriculture obviously, since that is after all what he was trained to do since his birth. He knows plants like the ack of his hand though he realized that the Capitol would have thought of this and would be using this against him as they would do with each of the tributes. He hopes that by some miracle that he will understand and recognize at least a few of the useful plants of the arena.
Knives are another strength he has, he knows how to use them to his advantage whether it is making a trap from the surroundings or finding food - as far as killing goes Dominic is as wimpy as a puppy facing a snarling wolf, but there is a wolf inside Dominic as well - waiting inside to protect Dominic.
[ w e a k n e s s e s ] killing is the abosolute number one thing that Dminic dreads doing whether it is killing an animal for survival or killing another human being that is going to kill him. He struggles with these thoughts, wondering what the conquences are of the blood that will be spilled by his hands. Also death pricks at his mind, what would become of his family when he died?
Yet another weakness of Dominic would be bows and arrows seeing as he plans to strictly stick to his knife plan like a catholic priest to their holy practices.
