Thank you. From what I've heard, shes doing pretty well. She recently had a surgery to remove one of the tumors, and it went well. She's been recovering today. So, not bad. Thank you all so much for your support.

Do any of you guys have extensive knowledge of Hekate or Isis? As in ritual procedures, magick assosciations, et cetera? I know the stories, but I want to get to know their personas better. I'm looking into matron goddesses.

Despite the troubles caused Ive actually had a rather good relations with Hekate. Is she a main focus on my worship? Not really, but I never seem to experience the chill others feel from her, comofrt almost.

Also, when you're looking for a patron god/goddess-- don't. You cannot go searching for them, they will come to you.

Well, I've heard a lot of different things about finding a patron. I've heard you just need to wait for them to come to you, and I've heard that you could look into a god/goddess and see if they call on you after you've educated yourself about them and such.

I have to agree with Raven. It is important to be as educated as possible. If you find a goddess or god that intents you, you can meditate on them to learn more about their personality and see if there is a connection between you. If you need any help finding a meditation, I'd be happy to help you.

I'm reading A Wiccan Bible by AJ Drew recently. It's amazing how much I 'click' with all the information in the book. Usually my mind fights with everything I read about how to do certain rituals and whatnot, but this book is giving me the information on theories I've been looking for AND the why's to back everything up. There's nothing worse to me than reading a book that doesn't justify why certain things must be done certain ways. I wondered if anyone had any comment on the book as a whole or knew of any other books/sites with the same ideas.

Also, I just discovered that my future dorm does not allow open flames. This isn't a big deal, I simply hadn't thought of it in terms of rituals and meditation. Any advice for 'substitute fire' or ways around needing a lit candle for a ritual?

What if you put a dome like over the candle, that way it wont be an exposed flame..

You could use LED candles. They just have a bulb in them. (:

I don't think that would work Vestra, I'd still have to light it somehow. And if there was a dome over it then it would run out of oxygen pretty quickly.

Andromeda, I've thought about that but I was worried if it would loose the sense of 'fire'. Do you have any experience with them? xD

Yes; we have a few in my house for decoration. I've not used them in ritual, though. I do know that a lot Pagans and Wiccans in college use them. If you just want them to represent fire, but are worried you won't "feel" the fire essence, you could always replace them with a stone or something similiar with a fire affinity.
