((Break it up you two, you're spamming the thread a bit.
Sapphy: From here on, if someone talks to your character, try to interact a bit. We want to include all the characters, but I understand.

zippyzoo: Feel free to have your character(s) come across Ren and Sapphire.

Post should be coming in a short while, if my computer doesn't die.))

It was odd, that from the moment of joy Ren felt as his hand closed around Sapphire's, that everything took a very fast turn for worse. He didn't show it, just keeping a small, relieved smile on his face, but the young King's emotions were not where they should have been. Was he grateful that this girl was still alive? Yes. Did what she way tempt him to push her away, off the branch, to the merciless ground below? Also yes.

'Irreplaceable friend' had all the wrong effect on Ren's. He did somewhere understand that it was because had just saved her from plummeting to the ground, but he heard it in the way all the other females he had met in the past year would say it. Sapphire's tears snapped him out of his ever-growing, ever-false suspicions for a moment, as he fought to think of something comforting. But given he was usually the one silently searching for comfort, nothing came up in his mind. He just forced out, keeping the effort it took from his expression, a soft smile. As if that could mean anything in comparison to what Sapphire was saying.

By the time Ren had even sorted out what all the bird and fish references meant, Sapphire was hugging him. That effectively wiped away any thoughts in his mind, making him pull back slightly, and waver slightly as he tried to stay balanced on the branch. Touching... just not. No matter how emotional the moment, Ren would have greatly preferred to stay a foot or two away. Paranoia from the past year had made even simple shows of affection impossible for him, a sad sight. He was about to push her away, when the realization that Sapphire had passed out hit him.
Slowly, he worked out of her limp hug, before half-pushing half-carrying the girl to a small nest of branches that he was confident she wouldn't fall out of in her sleep. Trust was a weakness, and something Ren would not let himself succumb to. Sapphire was a stranger and a female; on the chance that she was not who she said she was, that her intentioned were not what they seemed, Ren would not let himself fall for the weakness of trusting her. A small, sad look at the girl later, Ren climbed back down out of the tree. The sun showed it was already far past when he had intended to return, and it was finally time for that. With a small sigh, Ren walked quickly in the direction of the castle where he would soon be trapped, pausing only once to look back at the friend he both wished dearly to stay with, and wanted to leave behind. Of course that mattered little, as he had to leave either way.

But the bird would reach skies far higher then where the fish could see it, drawn by others calling him.

((Alright, well scratch the last two posts for Arctria then, lets just start over.))

Arctria walked into the woods directly behind Ren as soon as he left. Her brothers could deal with the injured boy on their own, especially if the girl who had showed up last could help them as well. She stayed behind Ren, a respectable distance, and watched as the other girl (Sapphire) approoached Ren from another direction. She pretty much ignored the other girl, but knowing her name would be nice. Still, Ren seemed as flighty as a squirrel, so she thought it better to stay back for the time being.
When Ren climbed the tree, she stayed at the bottom, a short ways away just so that he wouldn't feel threatened by her. If that was even possible. She highly doubted anyone would feel threatened by her very child like stature. She plucked a nearby hollow reed, and using the knife, she cut small holes in one side of it, making it a flute. It wouldn't have as much of a range as the ones she had back at the castle, but she really needed some music to calm her nerves for a while. She sat at the base of an adjacent tree, and began to play. Though she couldn't sing and play the flute at the same time, she thought the words of the peaceful and slightly sad song in her head as she played the tune.

The sun has dropped
behind the willow,
the daylight flowers
shall not follow.
Though night has come
the day had won
and once again
I sigh.

There is no mercy
in the moonlight.
The butterflies
shall take no flight.
Though night has come
the day had won,
and once again
I sigh.

The birds no longer
sing their calls,
but streams flow
ever onward.
Though night has come
the day had won,
and once again
I sigh.

((The song and words were written by me, so please don't steal them. Thanks.))

((Frosttail: I can't even tell what you just wrote. Reread the rules, please. No chatspeak or bad grammar in this Rp, and you must use proper capitalization and punctuation while posting, even if just OCC.

Everyone else: I think another time-skip might be needed? I'm trying to think of a plot twist but nothing is coming up right now. There could be a war or something, famine, rebellion, etc, and if all else fails I can kill Ren and start the fight for the throne.
Please PM me if you have a better idea, it would be greatly appreciated. ))

By the time Ren made it back within the grounds of the castle, noon had come and gone. It had been a bit over two days since he had fled the castle, assassinating two he would not let be named his successor. About fifty hours of freedom... it had been move then he could ever wish for, and yet it was far longer then he had ever intended to stay away, and it was already over. It was an... odd and highly depressing feeling, but there was nothing he could do about it, or at least he until he learned that it was already too late.

etting out of the castle was often difficult, as there was nothing to climb to get over the walls, and guards were everywhere. Usually a bribe or two in the right hands was enough to get him free passage through, but after being gone for as long as he had with no idea what was waiting for him, that was not a good idea. Thankfully, Ren recalled as he walked along the outside wall, it was easier to get in. A fault of the castle, in his opinion. But right then, it was befitting him. A small forest rimmed the walls and stretched about a mile out, and since the pay cuts when his advisers took control the guards weren't very good about cutting down large trees that stretched over the wall. So Ren, looking among the trees, quickly located one with a cut in the bark he had made many months before. Scaling it in about a minute, as climbing trees seemed to be one thing he could actually do well, Ren poked among the branches for a minute. As usual, the rope was there, and he quickly knotted it around a branch, letting the other end drop to the ground below. He slid down that, and decided to leave the rope hanging down in the shadows just in case what he found proved to be unpleasant. After all, shortly before disappearing he had threatened to shoot his attendants, and his advisers could find many ways to use that against him. Leaving the way out would prove to be perhaps his smartest idea in his short life.

Ren had little trouble navigating through the maze of the castle, where he had lived his life. To his surprise, there were shockingly few guards in comparison to what he had been expecting given their king had vanished. But it wasn't like his guards were loyal, it would be to catch him when he returned, so Ren was wary of a trap.

The sound of approaching footsteps, and many of them, made him freeze up. He was in a courtyard, it wasn't hard to find a tree that could hide his slim form. Crouched there, Ren winced at the sight. The first two people to enter were two guards, that was unsurprisingly. His advisers had assigned most of his guards to themselves. But then followed another two guards, two of his advisors, some ancient aunt-once-removed of his or something that he had long since forgotten, another guard, and then something that made Ren's breath catch. The last person in trail who mattered, talking with an tall, bearded man that was one of Ren's most hated advisers, who usually held the gun when they were threatening him. The last person was one of his cousins, Rinalle, the most rotten and spoiled person Ren could swear he would ever know. The sight of the bright yellow hair and twisted expression was unforgettable.

With a elaborate golden gown, decked in jewelry, and a crown marked with the King's Seal resting on her golden-curls, Ren didn't care about anything else. He knew what had happened while he was gone just from the sight. His advisers had probably decreed him dead. His absence, where he could do nothing against them, was a perfect time to do something they had been planning to do. Apparently they finally thought they had enough power and a much better puppet then Ren had proved to be.

Rinalle had been named Queen.

Ren tried not to well, break down into tears there. He knew very well what that implied. What had previously been his kingdom would crumble within a year, he was sure of that, under the greedy fist of Rinalle, and behind her, his -previous- advisers. He couldn't do anything there, The guards were looking wary, pondering if not confused, and others looking around as if searching for something with evil and wanting expressions. Without a corpse it was hard to prove Ren to be dead. So some guards were unsure of everything, and others had been told that Ren still lived and they would be rewarded richly if they could provide his body. Ren didn't know this, but he had a good guess that was very close to the truth.

The procession soon passed by, and Ren's body thought before his mind. As soon as he was sure he would not be heard, he turned and ran. As fast as he possibly could, away from there. Being seen would mean his death, and with it any hope of saving his kingdom. And if they saw the rope... they would surely guess that he had returned.

Running against the shadowed side of walls, keeping the rooms he knew to be darkest, Ren achieved a near miracle; once again no one saw him. Before long, out of breath and still in a daze, Ren was climbing back down his tree, bringing the rope with him, on the other side of the castle wall. For a moment he stared at the rope in his hands, wondering why he had carried it down but not really caring.

Fight or flee, twas the instinct of man. Ren was small and weak, with too many against him to fight. So he fled. Running as far as he could, in full sprint, back to near where he had previously been with Sapphire what seemed like an eternity ago. He only slowed when his legs gave out underneath him and he collapsed, which given Ren's frail state wasn't that far. The escapade had taken away his attention, but once he was sitting on the ground with his knees pulled up to his chin with only the sound of his ragged breathing to be heard, reality struck hard. Without another sound he buried his head into his knees, and for the first time since being crowned king, Ren broke down and silently began to cry.

They were all going to die, unless he managed to do something. But he was the lost king, who most of his people hated, not knowing he had only been a puppet to his advisers, kept at gunpoint half his life. What was there to do? Hide away and wait for the end? While he had still stood at the throne, his advisers actions were limited. But now with only Rinalle to persuade... and it was all his fault in Ren's mind, for having taken those precious two days.

To Ren, the end was within sight.

((Whoop, plot upheaval! Something will happen from here though that shall prevent the end though. xD ))

[ That post was magnificent, Kiro. I really did enjoy reading it. Gah! This has me sitting at the edge of my seat like this were a very fast-paced anime. I can't tear my eyes of the screen. xD ]

Sapphire -

False security had made me drift into a sleep deeper than I had ever expieranced in a long time. The twigs that surrouned me in the tree kept me warm like a baby bird in my slumber. My keen ears however, refused to let my body rest longer once they were filled with the faint noise of a faint cry. It was soft, but their was no hope in the sobs. With an instinct that had been carved into me after all the years of witnessing what I had, I acted quickly. Except, how I acted did not match the situation. My body moved by itself climbing out of the tree, and on the nearest branch to the ground, jumping off.

Luckily, what was below was soft grass, so any impact that my body had taken in was minimum and the adrenaline coursing through my veins scared the pain away. I followed the sound of the crys, a bit far off though they where, had echoed through the trees like gossiptold between the branches. On the ground, broken down into tears was no less than my little bird. 'Why is Ren crying?' a childlike voice asked in my head, repeating again and again until my own resolve crumbled.

He reminded me so much of myself when I had lost my mother and father for a second that my own tears started to well up again as well. I was well hidden behind a tree, but at this pace, my tears where going to betray me, like they had to Ren. A sudden memory flashed and my eyes closed in attempt to shake away the tears.

Red, it was all red. No other color tinted that red. I could taste it in my mouth and smell it with my small nose. I looked down at my hands as tears poured into the mixture of the red. 'Be a good girl. I won't draw blood if you shut up and stop weeping.' A voice growled at me. When I looked up, an ugly, old man was drawing his knife out of a beautiful woman's chest, right above where her heart was. 'Momma? Momma?' My voice, high pitched and broken, squeaked in horror. I could only get a glimpse of a handsome man's body lying in a pool of blood before I was lifted up from the ground by the ugly old man. 'MOMMA! PAPA!' the broken voice cryed again, trying to make sense of the situation. Except I couldn't. Then all there was, was a sharp pain in the back of my head and darkness.

The vision was gone as fast as it came, but the impression that blood was everywhere remained. It took several hard blinks and multiple confirmations of my surroundings for me to go back to what had happened to Ren. I slowly crawled out from behind the tree, making no noise as I did. I softly sat a few feet away from Ren, out in the open where he could see me, and easily throw a knife to kill me as well. My rash acts in the past few days all had an excuse, except this one. Not me sitting here as he cryed and watching him, but the tears that also ran down my cheeks as I did.

It was cruel of me to let them out like this, where they would be exposed to the cruel realities of the world, yet I had no control over whether or not they came out. They appeared out of nowhere, like cruel magic. "You're lonely aren't you...?" I finally said, in the middle of tears. I knew it wasn't because he was lonely that the tears on his face poured out so, at least not entirely, and I knew he was in great pain. "I don't know who you really are, nor of your true past, nor the pain you've suffered since getting here and even now... " other words poured out without meaning, not that I knew until the last words came out, even though they sounded somewhat like a riddle.

"But little bird with his broken wing, I'll learn to fly for you anyway."-

[ Meh-post. Anyway, I hope Ren accepts Sapphs friend/ally request xD ]

Arctria had folllowed Ren the instant he had left the first tree. She followed him silently the whole way back to the castle, never once losing sight of the young king. Arctria followed him over the castle wall, not risking losing sight of him. She was upset when she heard that a new queen would be put in place, but somehow there must be a way to tell people of king Ren. They did still believe in him, they knew about the advisors. They knew he could do it, he could defeat them. He just needed help to do it.

When Arctria saw him crying, she walked up. "You can do it you know. You can get rid of the advisors, the people would help you if you asked them to." She had a very good feeling that she knew what Ren was crying over. With the help of Ren's other friends they could travel the kingdom in secrecy, spreading the word about the living king. With the right words, the king would rein and the kingdom would be free, but the one thing they needed for anything to succeed was the king. She couldn't lose him.

Then Arctria turned to Sapphire, waiting until after she had finished speaking. "But we need you to. To help disguise him. I've got a plan, but we all have to get out of here before he is found. I know you don't like me, but let's get out of here. Hear me out, and you'll see I've got a plan to fix things here."

((Oh please go with it, if you'd like I can PM you the plan, it would involve a bit of timeskipping (about a year or two) but it would eventually lead to a population sieging the castle, which I think would be fun to roleplay.))

Re: Advisory Unneeded (semi-lit+)

((zippyzoo: Mind you, tis my RP, when you have large ideas that would change the plot you have to run them by me first. ^^))

What Ren would have given for security right then, even just false. Just about anything he had, which wasn't much anymore. Knowing that half the knights in the kingdom were awake and watching with the prospect of becoming rich by providing his corpse? Ren was still a child, even if one that had gone through more then most had to in a lifetime. The idea that he was probably going to be dead within a week made anything else seem much less important. Honestly, Ren was scared of death. So long of living at gunpoint had, rather then made his braver, just torn away any resistance he had left against that horrifying reality. Was it really any surprise that Ren was crying?

Normally Ren would have heard Sapphire even if she wasn't crying, or noticed her somehow, whether because of the shaking of a a few leaves or the sound of breaths. Not then, for his sound of his own tears easily drowned out hers and Ren already thought himself doomed, which for some unclear reason made him less cautious. Odd that despair of a looming end made one not prepare for that same end, even if trying could change it.

Also strangely, when Ren saw Sapphire sit a few feet away from him, he didn't do more then twitch. Sapphire just always was there whenever he wasn't in the castle it seemed, and it wasn't like he had been gone long. The presence of another person was comforting, and given that his own eyes were red-rimmed and there were tears streaking his face, he find the girl's tears to be all that noticeable. 'You're lonely, aren't you?' The words... rather then sparking any emotion in him, rather pushed it further away. For a year, Ren had been all alone, never seeing anyone that he wouldn't sooner put a sword through then talk to again. All the anger and hopelessness had nowhere to go, and just gathered in his mind. Of course he was lonely, but now had literally no one. Not a single person, hated or not, save for Sapphire really not that he really thought of her yet. He barely knew the girl; even if she had gone against everything that most people did when they saw him, he could not trust her.

"Yes...." He answered shortly, simply acknowledging the truth. Denying it would be pointless. It would take a blind person at the very least to not see that Ren was left with nobody. He listened slightly as she kept speaking, but once again the words provided no comfort, nor anything really. Even if the broken bird and fish learned to fly, there would no escaping the talons of larger beasts, who together could fly through the skies, land, and sea. The bird and fish references still confused Ren, as he was used to talking literally, but yet the words formed in his throat anyways.

"But the bird can't fly with you, stuck helpless on the ground, waiting to be eaten." His tone was bitter, and despairing. Soon enough he would be seen by someone who wanted him dead, even if not one of the guards the people hardly liked him either. Seeing Ren magically alive, they would probably just spear him through themselves. Changing back to reality with his words, he clarified in a few words what had happened. "There's a new queen. I've probably been declared dead." And then under his breath, quieter simply because the reality was terrifying; "I'm going to die..."

When Arctria appeared, this time Ren reacted. Another person so quickly, who had not approached quietly like Sapphire had, sent him into a small panic. A guard who had heard him? Or worse? In a flash, since Ren was not idiotic enough to let it be separated from him, he had a gun in hand. Which was immediately pointed at the oncomer, who it took a moment for him to recognize. However, upon hearing her words, he stopped the action of lowering it and trained it on her head. She had made a mistake in her words, one that Ren was not taking well to.

"And how would you know what has happened?" How would she know, Ren wondered. It was kept quiet for the moment that a new queen had been picked, and his 'death' would probably not be announced till morning. Arctria could be there to kill him for all Ren knew, paid by his advisers. Her plan was, to Ren, hopeless. She didn't seem to realize that Ren was a hated king. The people thought the state of despair the kingdom was in was his fault, not his advisers. Would they want him back on the throne? Hell no, they'd sooner have him hung. There was no chance the people would rebel under his rallying, that was for sure. Rinalle, in their eyes, wouldn't seem that much worse in their eyes. Until she did something huge, but by then she would already have the population suffering enough that they would be helpless.
