cat name:Chewbacka, or Chewy
image:I couldn't resist taking this photo when I came home today, he was peeking out the window looking for me ~

age: under a year, about 8 months
I technically only have 3 cats but there are a lot of strays that live around my house and I gave all of them names. One of the strays just had kittens and I am trying to find homes for them. They were only born Friday but they are probably the cutest things I have ever seen. I might post pictures of them later if 'Mama cat' stops hissing at me.

Well this'll probably be confusing, as you can't really see what I see, and it's rather hard to picture. But I hope it's not to crazy sounding.
I have a two year old cat, Houdini, of who I've had since she was a kitten. On my birthday, [February 13th], I adopted a two year old, Bijou. Houdini has her own litter box, so I bought a new one for Bijou to use a her own. For the first three weeks, Bijou was in my room, using that litter box perfectly fine.
Once I introduced the two cats, Bijou began to get more comfortable around Houdini, and began to share food bowls and water. [Though there is still her food and water bowl in my room were it always has been.] Houdini was fine with it, and so was I. Bijou then started using Houdini's litter box, and very seldomly using her own.
But now, it's gotten to where she will poop in Houdini's, but pee all around the house. Her litter box is still available in my room, and she will not use it. When I clean the boxes, Houdini's will be used, but there won't be anything in Bijou's at all. It's not poop and pee, it's just pee. It's extremely frustrating for me, and I am really beginning to become fed up with it. I try putting her in my room during the day, but she'll just hold it. My mom is really fed up with it, too. My only guess is it's a territorial thing? Both girls are fixed, so they can't really spray. My mom only understands there is pee where it shouldn't be, and tells me if I can't fix it I'll have to get rid of her. I deffinantly don't want to do that, because not only would it be hard to rehome her, she also needs a little more care when it comes to fleas and such. [She is very allergic to them, and needs proper flea care and such.]
Thanks for reading.

I actually had a cat that did that, so I can picture it. Two cats actually. (One is right next to me as I'm typing this) My cats would poop in the litter box, and pee all over the house. I found they like to pee on soft things. So we close all the bedroom doors and keep an eye on them when they are on the couch. Is it mostly on or around soft things? It could be that they enjoy laying on the soft thing so much, they don't want to get up. But poop you have to stand up. So she goes to a litter box because she may as well just do what she knows is right. As far as sharing the litter box and not using her own. Do you ave different litter? Bijou may like a different litter better. Is the box a different size? Maybe it's too small. Is the location of Bijou's litter box in plain sight while Houdini's is out of sight? They like privacy when they go.(Some cats are fine with plain sight) It could also be kidney stones, UTI, bladder infection, diabetes, or she could be protesting about her litter box.

I have a cat that did that. Both my cats relieve themselves outside, as they're indoor/outdoor cats. And both would be fine pooping outside buy Casey would just pee where ever he wanted as long as he was in a carpeted area. He didn't like tile.
We had train him almost how you would train a puppy. We tried to keep an eye on him when he was on carpet' and we tried to keep him on hard floor as much as possible. Everytime he peed inside we would sternly say "No!" and then promptly put him outside and he couldn't come back in until it was time to feed him. We would then spray and soap up the area he had peed in to get rid of the scent so he wouldn't want to pee there again. Eventually he just figured it was easier to go outside and come back in, instead of being too lazy to go out and then getting stuck in the backyard for 2 hours. XD
He's fine now, and we don't need to worry about litter boxes anymore either. If your cat is allowed to go outside, maybe this will work for you?

Same litter. Houdini's litter box is a regular sized one. Bijou's is a big dome shaped litter box, which is quiet more roomy than Houdini's is. And both are sitting in plain sight. And no, when Bijou "goes", it's anywhere. Not necessarily in certain places/by certain things.
