Chris kept a steady pace through the wild jungle, listening carefully for the sign of any other tribute. He looked up briefly when he heard the sound of flapping wings. "Thanks." he said, with another brief nod. And, soon enough, the ground began to slope slowly downward. And still, there was no sign of anyone but Zorath. Was the bloodbath at the cornucopia still going on? Or was everyone dispersed throughout the arena?

Cog-D3-14-Honey Badger
Cog decided since Lupa had made no other sign she was around, and he had been waiting for a while now, she might just have to keep going. ...But he felt guilty, for some reason, just going and leaving the elder girl. So his eyes darted around to see if anyone else was near them- laughable, really, since he was almost as blind as a bat, but it was better the nothing. "My offer for an alliance still stands." Mutters the young tribute, before he takes off running again, wanting to put as much distance between himself and the cornicopia as possible. Spear and Navy blue back strapped to his back, one hand on his shoulder that was now bleeding enough to make him woozy, Cog crashed through the thick jungle undergrowth, relying on his sense of smell and hearing more then his eyes.

Suddenly, the quietness around Chris was shattered by a bloodcurdling scream, like that of someone being tortured. Chris's immediate impulse was to run and find the unfortunate person and help them, but this was the hunger games. Hopefully, whoever or whatever was hurting the tribute so would finish them off quickly, and the cannon blast would come to acknowledge their end. But the screaming continued - and more similar ones joined in. The screams were horrible, eardrum shattering wails, and coming ever closer to his position. Then a thought struck him - were they tributes? The voices sounded human, sure, but this was the hunger games. Could this be one of the Capitol's cruel jokes to make him run into a giant forest fire, or drive him bak towards an ambush? He cautiously reached behind him, careful not to make a noise as he drew his bow and knocked an arrow. He scanned the brush, scarcely daring to breathe. Then he saw the first one. It should have looked comical and ridiculous - a great golden lion with hawk's wings grafted to it's back - but there was nothing funny about the glinting claws and pearly teeth. He let out a low instinctive growl of warning, but the mutt didn't falter. He released the arrow, and it flew straight and true at the beast's face and buried itself in the thing's eye. But that hardly even slowed it down. "What the..." he mumbled, staring awestruck as the thing pounced at him. At the last moment he remembered that this thing was undoubtably here to kill him, and ducked, but the creature still managed to claw his back as it went by. He let out a scream to match the ones still echoing around him, then took off at a dead sprint. He had to get as far as possible from these things.

Cog-D3-14-Honey Badger
Cog found himself in a curious situation. Well, not as curious as 'near death', and it was only the first day! Nonetheless, he and a large lion with dirty blonde fur and rather offputting robin's wings were circling eachother. Cog, with his lips pulled back into a snarl as his large, sharp jaw-deforming teeth, and one clawed hand clutching the shallow cut on his shoulder that had bled absolutely everywhere. The lion made the first move, lunging foreward, screaming out with it's teeth aiming for the tribute's neck. But Cog was ready- he ducked, letting the lion charge right over him, and slashed open the stomach with the head of his spear in the process. All of his senses were flooded with the lion's blood- something he was not planning for. It was everywhere- eyes, nose, mouth, sprayed all over his shirt. Cog coughed, stumbled back, blinking and spitting out blood that wasn't his. That's when the lion's massive paw slammed into the side of his head, and Cog crashed to the ground instantly. The wind was knocked out of him- how had was the creature still able to move? Too soon, he was feeling the weight of the winged lion ontop of him as he braced himself for the final blow.
...It never came. It took him a few long moments to open his eyes again, but when the raven-haired boy finally was able to wipe them on something, he realized that it was the lion's mane. Cog remained frozen still as his head throbbed, both from blood loss and the hit to the head, as he looked around. What a horrid scene to come across- everything was covered with blood, it did not take a genius to figure out that the lion had bled out in the nick of time. Too overwhelmed with exertion from running, fighting and injury, Cog decided to hike his navy blue bag over his head and fll asleep under the warmth of the lion's corpse.

Chris's sneakers were muffled by the thick blanket of leaves that covered the floor of the jungle, but that sure didn't stop the muttation from following him. He could hear it's eerie inhuman scream above him as he ran. He came to a bit of a clearing, and saw a small mass ahead. He slowed down to look at it - one of the lions was dead, and blood slicked the ground around it. He also saw the legs of one of the tributes under it's body. He made a sign of respect for the boy, who he assumed was dead, before running on. The lion above him seemed completely intent on having him for dinner, as it did not waver once in it's path following him. He ran for at least a mile, but his legs were tiring quickly. He had to think of some way to fight the lion where it would be at a disadvantage. Well, that was easy. He could get the lion on the ground, then climb a tree. Or he could trap it in a space that wouldn't allow it much space to move. But that was much easier said than done. He slowed to a stop and dove into a space beneath some tree roots. He backed up as far as he could, then dug in his bag for the grappling hook. He had an idea - he just hoped it would work.
As he expected, the lion dove to the ground almost immediately, and he could see it coming towards his hiding place. He was relieved to see that it was bleeding quite badly from the arrow that was still stuck in it's eye, but he wished it would just die. The lion began to growl as it stalked toward him, one orange eye locked on his own. "Please, leave." he said in a soft growl - a desperate attempt to communicate with an animal that was related to the one he had been given DNA from. The muttation didn't even falter.

Zorath|District 9|Golden eagle
Zorath spotted the lions too little, too late. he chased Chris through the jungle behind the lions who didnt seem to notice him. one was now inches away from chris. he pulled out his bow and shot a volley of 3 arrows at the creature. It recoiled from the impact but didnt fall. instead its wings opened and it now shot after Zorath. he let out a screech as a battle cry and charged right for the beast and they slashed at each other with sharp claws. the lon was already wounded and Zorath had larger claws. when they came apart from the mid-air scuffle zorath was badly scrached but not down but the lion flew for a moment then plummeted down landing with a satisfying Crack!
"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am?I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Chris winced as he crawled out of the shelter of tree roots. It had not been a good idea to crouch like that - he could feel the skin on his back stretch, undoubtably deepening the wounds from the beast's claws. He dropped his bow on the ground, along with his bag, the quiver, and the grappling hook. "Thank you." he said to Zorath through clenched teeth. He was using a great effort not to scream out in pain. "Do you have any bandages or extra cloth?" he asked, "Or a needle? I have a feeling that if I don't fix up these scratches, things will get worse."
