Raccoonstrike's long tail quivered in a dream. A soft voice broke through his churning thoughts, and one of his eyes winked open slowly. He could see the silhouette of a cat in the den entrance, and recognized Spiderstar's quiet call. Though he hadn't been mentioned, Raccoonstrike shifted and decided to get up. As the leader vanished back outside, the young warrior rolled quickly to his paws and shook the moss debris from his thick fur. He yawned, baring sharp fangs, and arched his back in a stretch. He then blinked away the sleepiness, and promptly strode from the warriors' den with his tail swishing. He glanced around the dim clearing, feeling the faint rays of sunlight warm his pelt.

A pale shape sat in the shadow of the medicine cat den, teal eyes gleaming from the darkness. Sprucepaw watched as Spiderstar exited his den, then she busied herself with licking a paw. She drew it across her ears and sighed softly. Sprucepaw shook her long, light-hued fur and then sniffed around her nest. She brushed away a bit of root that was marring the mossy fern bedding. She blinked, ears pricking, as movement caught her eye again; and she saw as Spiderstar backed away from the warriors' den, sitting down by the fresh-kill pile. Sprucepaw licked her shoulder, smoothing her pelt again, and then turned to look at the back of the den, covered with stocks of herbs. She scanned the stores of plants, making sure nothing had gotten to them during the night. The diminutive she-cat stepped back, satisfied, then sat down in the den's entrance, to watch the clearing with a calm gaze.
