I find myself looking into your eyes from that cold day
and I wonder...
were you ever meant to stay?
I see you with that other girl
turn away, put on my mask
but it's too late
the glass of my heart will break
I notice you, I notice slowly changing back
slowly, slowly
but you will never love me.
and I should accept this and slip back into the darkness
but I swear I still love you
I still love you
and I always will.
Still...
I find you with that other girl
slipping into her world
and I swear
Looking into those silver eyes
I swear.
I swear I will always love you one last time.
I turn away
and stay awake
yet
I swear I'll leave you all alone
I swear you'll be just fine.
I swear we'll never be more then friends
I swear you'll never love me again.
I swear your silver eyes won't meet me
I swear all those years spent with me were for nothing
but most of all,
I swear I'll always love you.
I took off running, never looking back
Not to see your crying face
Not to see the tears pour down your cheeks
Never to see the way you threw her flowers down
Never to see the way you ran
away from her
but
I heard you screaming
so
I turned back
and I saw your face
I ran into your embrace
and I swear,
I was happy again.
I'll swear one last time,
I swear I will always love you.

We exchanged smiles.
I took his hand and led him across the street. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I asked.
Without any thought or hesitation, my little brother replied, "A vet!" I smiled and stared down at my brother. "Why would you say that?"
He thought for a moment this time. "Animals are real nice, and I like them. Maybe helping them is even better!" I giggled slightly as we kept walking.
---
You were diagnosed with cancer. I got a twisted, sick feeling in my stomach- the worst feeling ive ever had. I cried for hours. How could this be? I thought back to how he said he'd like to be a vet. I listened as he was given only about 1 week to live. I cried more, bawling, my eyes red and puffy.
I held your hand as you sat in the hospital bed coughing. "It hurts..." You murmured softly. I gave him a sad, depressed, exaggerated smile and pushed hair out of his eyes. "I know... I just have one question for you-" He nodded and coughed violently. "What is your favourite animal?"
Again, without hesitation, you gave a strong smile. "A puppy." You replied, face glowing with happiness. I nodded slowly, thinking about all of this. I realized you haven't ever actually met a dog.
---
This was it. Your last day to live. I flashed back to all the moments we'd had together. The good, the bad, the funny, the sad.
I didnt' leave your side the whole time. We exchanged more smiles and one laugh that came from me, as I opened the door and a dog burst inside, along with numerous vets smiling brightly, one's hand fastened onto the dog's leash.
You, though in pain, sat up weakly and I knew by your eyes that you couldn't believe it. The dog was fairly small, and it was let up onto the bed.
You coughed violently again, that was about 6 or 7 times in the past 15 minutes, and laughed while the dog barked and licked your face. You cried- this was your dream. To be a part of these people.
I called over a vet for you, the boss of the rest, the 'ultimate vet'. He kneeled and clutched your hand, failing to fight back tears. "Are you a real vet, mister?"
He just nodded, not able to respond because of the tears. Finally he wiped them away and smiled. In your final hours, you almost got to live you're whole dream in a few minutes.
"And someday, you will be too."
"Really, mister?"
The vet nodded again but replied aswell.
"Mhm."

Darling child, would you please?
The child stared vacantly in the general direction of the wall, the sun a gentle ray of warmth on his cheek. A single window sat in the high reaches of the room, it's kaleidoscopic colors lost on it's sole occupant.
"It's blue today. Can't you feel it?"
The voice was a mere whisper, barely audible, and yet the boy straightened at the sound; he had been waiting for it. Twisting slightly to the side, he tilted his head, brow scrunched in concentration.
"Can you feel it?"
At last he nodded, shrinking back to his original position. "What does it look like?" The boy's voice was wistful, his sightless eyes roving around the unseen confines of the room.
A gentle hand reached out, brushing the child's hair from his forehead. "Well, why don't you close your eyes and see?"
Sighing softly, the boy's eyes fluttered closed, his breathing deepening as he slid slowly into Morpheus' arms.
And dreamed of the color blue.
Dream just a little dream of me?Amazing. So wonderfully written<3
