Hey guys, that's not exactly relevant to the topic, and it will get us shut down.

On topic: a boy at my school is being kicked out because he is gay. Someone told administration that he was planning on bringing a boy to prom, and they decided to kick him out. Granted, it is a private, Catholic school and they can do that, but it still seems unfair. What do you guys think about that, and what should we (as students) do to handle that?

Sorry I've been kinda M.I.A. lately, but I've returned.

I personally think him getting kicked out is complete crap! Mostly because I've almost brought girlfriends to my school dances and would have, had we not broken up and such beforehand. I think that the students against this should try to get a petition... I mean, it might not get him back into the school, but maybe a petition to be able to bring whoever you want to a dance?

I have some friends that went to a private, Christian high school, and instead of attending the normal Prom, a bunch of students in support of gay rights organized a speakeasy specifically for same sex couples, although anyone could attend.
No teachers were involved, but there was some parental support.

I feel like there might be somewhere around here that an LGBTQ prom is held, but I'm not sure... Meh >.< I think most of us are less concerned about the prom date, versus him being back in school. What really irks me is that doesn't seem Christian at all. He never brought a guy to a dance, and he definitely would have acted with the utmost of class, and keeping in mind his surroundings. I mean, Christianity is about love, and kicking someone out of an educational institution based on a "lifestyle choice" does not seem like something very... loving.

You have to keep in mind the tradition that goes along with religion, and also the controversy behind a gay attending a Catholic school. You have those crazies in all religions that make bigger deals out of small things.
Also, a lot of Christians are hypocrites when it comes to preaching versus acting. Not to mention the contradictions that already exist between saying the faith is about love, except if you're different from us.

Basically, no it isn't right at all. But I'd think that the school is mostly trying to avoid a scandal.
