Avery closed her eyes as a breeze blew by, the hood on her sweatshirt falling down from the wind. She tilted her head slightly with curiosity as the scent of fish came to her. While brushing a strand of hair from her face and readjusting her hood, she walked forward until the stream came into view. Avery smiled lightly. She was going to sit by the river and listen to the sound of running water, but stopped when she caught a glimpse of dark fur.

Darius was crouched in the grass, eating the fish he had caught. He had caught about six and they were small, about four inches long each. Out of all the sources of food in the forest,he liked the fish the best. They were great for a snack, easy to catch, and really good and crunchy. He stripped the meat from the small bones, the sharp crunching from him chewing was easily heard. He stopped when he caught a whiff of another wolf.

Avery noticed the fish after her eyes left the black wolf. She was surprised that he had managed to catch any, since every time she had tried herself they always slipped from her grasp. If she had remembered correctly, the smaller ones were even harder to get, yet six of them were laying in front of him. When he stopped eating, she quietly stepped behind a tree trunk. She didn't want him to think she was stalking him or something, however she knew he already had her scent. Maybe if I leave now, he will think nothing of it. Avery thought, hoping she was right.

Darius flicked one of his ears back, looking back behind him. The smell was familiar to him and he recognized it as one of his pack mates."I know your there." He said quietly, still looking for her. He licked his jaws, waiting for her to appear. His green eyes scanning the trees behind him carefully.

Avery let a soft sigh escape her lips. She took a few moments to decide what to do next. She could walk off. After all, it isn't like she was an enemy, he had no reason to pursue her. She eventually removed herself from the cover the tree provided, stepping onto the path that led to the river. She kept her distance, blinking at him with aqua blue eyes. She didn't speak, for she wasn't sure what to say and doubted anything audible would come out of her mouth anyway.

Darius locked his sea green eyes on her gaze, waiting for her to say something. Slowly both his ears went back,as he watched her. He sat up,turning towards her,the prickly grass starting to agitate him when he was lying down. He pulled his tail to his side still watching her.

Avery quickly learned he had no intention of speaking first, and after a somewhat awkward silence she said softly, "Sorry to bother you, I didn't realize you were here until it was too late.." She bit her lower lip gently, a nervous habit of hers. She hoped her apology would break some of the tension. She took a small step backward, her shoe lightly dragging across the dirt as if she was going to turn back.

She raked her blue gaze once over his figure. She'd be lying if she said his wolf form didn't intimidate her, even though she had one of her own. Not wanting to let him know this, she cleared her mind and stepped closer to the stream. She made sure she didn't get too close before stopping and leaning against a tree. "That's a lot of fish." She thought out loud, not wanting to sound foolish by saying she wouldn't have been able to catch any.

Darius nodded, sensing she didn't know of much to say. He shifted into his human form, sitting in the grass comfortably, watching her."They seem to never run out.." He said softly. Never once had there ever been a shortage of fish, even in the winter the fish were still there. The water of the stream was always moving therefore it never froze.
