Having a hard time training?Or just want to know new tricks?

I Have A Husky Who just turned 1 in feb. She can sit, Lay down, Crawl, Stay, Come, She sleds also sometimes jumps for fun , Speak , Car (( Which we say so she will go to the car of course or we say Bernie go for ride! )) Fetch..Which isnt really a trick xD

Hmmm, how about commands to make her as say, walk between your legs, or circle around them? :) Many people do this for fun, but some do it enough and then call it "Dancing with the dog" Because they play music, and make rutines, etc.

Hmm I think "Cirlce Around Legs" Might be a good one as she already walks beside me commanded No leash and even if other people or dogs come by. Maybe that be a good one! Any others Cause she is a fast learner...

Uhm...first, I think this thread is really interesting!
Well, I have a question. My dog (she's a Dachshund) already knows a few tricks, like Sit, Give paw (right or left paw), Up, Come, Stay, High Five, Find something and some more. But I've been trying a long time to teach her Lay down. But whatever I do, she doesn't understand it. Even if I press her back down, she doesn't get it. So, do you have any tips for me? How can I teach her?

I have two cats. I taught them to turn circles in opposite direction at the same time when I feed them. Hehe

Sounds a if you have a great dog(: Once you move onto around the legs, you can add music, and make different designs for her to do, that is if you are willing to have the patiants.

My friend has a dachshund and had the same problem... With that breed they can tend to get side tracked, or not learn as fast, because they can get very excited... this may not be the reason that your dogs not learning it, or it may be...

How EXACTLY do you try to teach this to your dog, how long do you do it for, and how consistant are you with it? If you answer those questions i should be able to help a little more, then i could without that information.Thank you<3

Im trying to teach mt cat do some more tricks, he will sit and go between legs/poles but i need some more things to teach him. How would you go about teaching a cat to jump over things, whenever i try he goes under or around the jump.

I'm taking care of my friend's dog because they can't keep pets in their new apartment and she's a really high energy dog. I take her to 30-50 minute walks every morning and then take outside to play 15-45 minutes in the evening. During the evening, I've been using it to try to teach her tricks with a toy ball as a reward for getting something right. So far I've taught her how to sit (she used to sit for 'tuck it' only), paw and jump, and I'm trying to teach her wait and roll over. But have you got any tips on how to teach her to actually fetch something? Right now, she plays keep away. Which is fine in the beginning because she's running around and getting all her energy out. But I'd like her to bring the ball back to me on command. I have to tell her to drop it then walk to where ever she stopped to get the ball. If I tell her to come, she'll just run past me with the ball.

We do have another dog who knows 'bring it here' where she'll bring the toy to you (usually) but she doesn't like the boxer at all and won't do anything when she's around.

EDIT: also, the tricks I've taught the dogs are mainly things they do naturally on their own. Like, I just applied the word paw to it every time Clemmy would try to paw at me then say GOOD! and now she does it on command. Same with jump. I'm not really sure how to teach them something they don't naturally do first.

EDIT2: Oh, also, I noticed someone earlier in the thread having similar aggression issues as we have with our chihuahua-mix. I find when I put Lolita's harness and leash on her, she acts significantly better. At least, she'll usually ignore someone who's being quiet and calm until they try to pet her, and she listens more readily. We also taught her the command be nice to stop her from BECOMING aggressive. It's only to be used when going into a situation we know will trigger her aggression. Also, it's helpful to learn what triggers the aggression. For instance, keys or change jingling in a pocket makes Lolita extremely tense and people with soccer or basketballs are a major no no.

Oh yes, it sounds as ifthis dog is a puppy? Most puppies are hard to teach fetch to in the beginning because they are very outgoing and have a load of energy. My dog had the sae problem, but soom adapted to the ways of playing "fetch". Make sure to siply stay where you are. When you chace her around she may believe you are playing a game with her. Throw the ball and stay where you are. Once she gets the ball call her to you, holding out your hand. If she runs past you, stay in your spot, turn twards her,and call her again, with a little moreof a stirnvoice, but make sure its not the voice you use if she has gotten in trouble. Kepp doing this over and over, and soon she should get a hang of whats going on. If she does it right, make sure to reward her with alot of pets and loves. ;) <3
