Species unknown.Name unknown.Faction unknown. The story of these two star-crossed lovers is sad indeed. But, to understand their pain, let us start at the beginning.
It was a warm summer day, with the towns aglow with the celebration of the Summer Festival.
..Oh, you say? This is too far back indeed. Let us journey onto the point of where our two characters meet, shall we?
Ahah, here we go.
The air was warm, the decay of winter long gone. Spring had arrived in full force; buds were sprouting, snow had melted. Azsche sat on a patch of grass under a shade tree, chomping on an apple. Life was good. Birds chirpped in the trees. They masked the sound of an invisible person stalking towards him, dagger unsheathed.
Slice.
A split second; the arrow was held in hand by a blue paw. The paw moved. Looking up, Azsche saw a beautiful young woman. She was looking toward the North of him; something was moving.
Silence.
Azsche, finally being able to talk, said, "Thank you..You saved my life..how can I repay you?" The woman regarded him coldly. "I need no pay." She started to pad away, out of sight. "Wait," He called after her. "I never got your name. Mine's Azsche." The woman looked over her shoulder. "Elevainia." She left, never to be seen for most of that year. No reports of a woman wearing black clothing and a blindfold, and wielding a katana.
This part is rather boring; reading the following months would take forever. Our story resumes at another encounter between the two.
'Finally,' Elevainia thought. 'No more running. I'm freeeeee~' These thoughts brought glee to her. She closed her eyes, sinking back into old memories..A man with platinum armor and a golden cloak that shone as bright as day continued to persist in showing up in her memories. He was quite handsome; grey, black, and white fur, with purple eyes....'Stop it!' She told herself. She couldn't go on like this, she needed to 'see' him again. Oh, what was the use? She couldn't see. All she saw was blackness..She was able to taste the scent of the colors, smell them, sense them.. She banged her head against a tree. "Ow!'
Her time soon came.
Azsche was walking in the forest, head down, tail and ears drooping. Occasionally his tail flicked; he was anxious. He needed to find that girl. He hadn't seen her in months, but she was imprinted in his memory somehow..He banged his fist against a tree. Where was she? He had looked everywhere; he had knights sent out, scouring far and wide for her. Yet she was nowhere to be seen.
He heard a sharp complaint of pain from the other side of the forest. That voice..Could it be? He wasted no time in running; he was near the spot where he had heard the yelp come from. He stared at her for a second; she was just as he remembered her as. And just as beautiful. He wondered if she felt the same way. Elevainia looked up from the tree, looking around. She smelt a familiar presence..."Azsche?" He touched her shoulder; she looked in his direction. "It's you! I thought I would never see you again! Where were yo-" She was cut off by Azsche. "I was trying to find you." "You were?" He nodded. Her black hair fell around her, her ponytail not doing a good job of holding it back. She hugged him▬or what she thought was him▬for a long time.He returned the embrace.
Now, I doubt you want to read about the events that ensued after that very moment. But I'm afraid this story is drawing to an end.
As they padded onto the battlefield, they observed the damage to the city. It lay in ruins, blood and fire everywhere. The two were married now; Azsche was recently called into battle for absurd reasons even I, the writer, can't fathom. He left Elevainia at the civilian camp with these words, "If I don't come back, I want you to know I will always love you." She watched as her strode onto the battlefield, into the portal..She couldn't help herself. She wanted to make sure he was safe. She snuck in behind him. He fought valiantly against the beasts but then..There were too many. Arrows, projectiles, missiles, anything they could find was thrown or shot at the small battalion. And then..
Swoosh.
An arrow hit Azsche in the chest. Elevainia cried out in anguish. She raced towards him, kneeling over his body.
"You were stupid to...follow..me.."
"I don't care! We need to get you back to the camp! You're bleeding heavily, but the medics can still sav-"
He stared up at her.
"I'll always love you..But you need to let me go...I can still defend the portal..Go! Now!"
She looked at him with teary eyes. 'No...Please, don't die on me..' She knew she had to leave.
"I'll always love you, too.. Good bye my darling. I will miss you."
A tear dropped onto Azsche's chest plate as she got up, and started running.
A statue was dedicated in Azsche's honor, to celebrate his valiance in battle. Elevainia visited it everyday, setting flowers on his grave, bundled with a band that had a note tied to it.
On the note, it read:
"I will always love you, my darling, even though you are not here with us. We save our tears for something worth crying for; promise me you'll be waiting."
