"You're such a downer, Kito. This 'lil guy will do ok." Aiden said, grinning. Not that they needed another mouth to feed or anything, but it was Alice and there was no saying no to her. Especially about cute little, helpless, baby animals. It was a death wish.

Kat stretched out her wings as far as they went, soaring up on a thermal over the forest surrounding the house. It felt so good to be out flying instead of cooped up inside, this felt so much more natural.

Akito just barely caught Tanner's comment, so he smiled at Alice and Aiden and gave the paper towel back to her and he went into Tanner's room. "Tanner, when we talked about rescuing Violet and Mark, I didn't mean today. We are nowhere ready. We don't have anyone to watch the kids, unless we left them by themselves or took them with us, and we don't know what the Itexicon Lab looks like," he said, leaning in the doorway.

Alice smiled a bit back at Akito, and fed the baby squirrel. "It's okay," she whispered to it. She sat in her pink t-shirt and yellow shorts on the stool, and watched the baby squirrel feed contentedly. It finally made a little yawning noise, and she took the box and put it back in her and Dove's room. Then she looked around for Akito, and went into the closet. The closet was her special place. Only Dove had been here before. It had the picture of her parents in here, happily smiling. Akito was three, but he wasn't smiling though. He looked close to it, though. Alice was just a baby, in this picture, her black hair showing through her swadled blanket. There was another baby too, one that looked absolutely identical to Alice. She'd never known there was a twin. Neither had Akito, but Alice had always seen this picture while Akito never had. Alice was just puzzled to as where the little baby in the picture had gotten to...

"Right," Tanner mumbled as he slipped into a new shirt and buttoned it up. "I guess I was just too eager to get going. How long have we been under the radar? A couple weeks?" He scowled slightly at the dirt that managed to get lodged in his feathers.

"Why do we need to leave at all? We're safe here, and we can live here. Rescuing 'Mark and Violet' would expose us to either the public or the School. They'd send Erasers after us; track us. That's not the life I want to live."

Akito shook his head. "This place is virtually untrackable. I think we could stay here for quite some time. And it's okay. We'll more than likely leave tomorrow or the day after. I want Mark and Violet out," he said, but he couldn't help being drawn to the school. He felt as if there was something there he should know about. Something small, and helpless. Something with long black hair, pale skin, and dark dark blue eyes that glittered when she laughed. But this girl didn't laugh often, in fact, this girl's eyes held a dusty spark that was close to going out. But it couldn't be, Alice was right here with him. A vision came into his head. This little girl, curled up in a black dress, torn at the bottom. She was in a large dog crate, and he wondered what made this girl so special that she had to have extra room. She was at the back, staring malevolently at a hand that was reaching for her. "Don't touch me," she snarled, with extreme malice for a five year old. He had a weird feeling. One of great protectiveness, a way he would feel of Alice..."Alright," he said finally, and walked out of Tanner's room and into his own with distant eyes, not being able to shove the Alice-double out of his head. There was no way that this could be real...could he be going crazy? He walked into the living room. "We leave tomorrow. Practice your powers. Outside, if you can. We don't want to make Connie draw anything that we've broken," he said, leader-tone. Then he went back into his own room, and opened a drawer. Inside the drawer there was a plastic bin full of water, it was the water he practiced with. He just took it out and played with it a while, he had mostly mastered his power.

Alice took the baby squirrel, box and all, into Tanner's room, grinning broadly. "Tanner, look!" she said proudly, thrusting the box up so Tanner could see.

"Well good for you. I, on the other hand, don't really give a sh*t, and think we shouldn't get them. Because I actually don't want to be" I counted on my fingers, "shot, stabbed with needles, knocked out, scraped up, punched anywhere, be made blind, get experimented on, etc. etc."

Tanner nearly jumped when Alice came into the room. "Isn't he a cutie?" he asked as he looked at the baby squirrel. He smiled a little at Alice and ran a hand through her hair gently. "I'm sure he's grateful to have you taking care of him. You're the perfect mother." Alice and Rose seemed to be the only members of the flock that could bring a smile to his face.

Alice smiled brightly at Tanner.

Akito had to pinch himself to keep himself from snarling. "You know what, Deade? Being a part of a flock is putting others before you. It's not like there's a huge change of us getting caught. We've planned this," he said.

Tanner would have had her leave, but with all of the yelling outside of the room, he didn't bother. "Did you think about giving him a name?" he asked as he watched the little squirrel again.

I frowned. "We? No, there was no 'we' in this, Akito. It was mostly you. Not a huge chance? But that still means there is a chance, even a chance which is higher than 50%. And if it's all about putting others before you, if you want to go get them, then why do you want to drag all of us around? And wouldn't one of those 'others' be me? Why don't you think about how I feel for a change, without just bringing me everywhere like a piece of meat with a sense of sarcasm?"
