Oh dear.... It's reaping day, she thought. She paced back and forth in her bedroom. Her big sister was already dressed in her tan dress she wears in most of the reapings that happen. Briar looked through all her clothing. Hmm...... What about this one? she thought, pulling out a white dress. The dress was short-sleeved and down to her knees.

"This will work," Briar muttered to herself as she began to slip into the white clothing. She then tried finding shoes and found brown heels, with heels at least four centimeters off the ground. Briar put them on, then asked her mom to do her hair.

Ashton grabbed her bow from an empty tree and ran to where she saw most of the prey. She looked around hoping to get at least a deer today, they sold for good money and could get her a piece of bread from the bakery she walked past everyday smelling the scent of muffins and cookies that filled the air. She smiled and closed her eyes, since she was the only one in her family she didnt need to feed anyone else. Sometimes she liked being the only one but sometimes she didnt. She looked around trying to find a deer,She then spotted a bush move and a buck head pop up behind it. She aimed her bow at its head than shot. She nailed him right in the head, she smiled running over to the carcass then she got her knife out skinning the hide from the buck. She than ripped the meet off and put it in a large black bag and tied it up. She gets up holding the bag and her bow with a smile "what a nice kill." she said to herself than walked to where the fence was remembering it was reaping day. She sighed thinking this would be her 4th year in thee ball,she closed her eyes and ran to the fence climbing under.

Josh sighed sitting on a log by the bakery he smelled the cookies and soft bread. He needed to feed his family sometime he thought, they were getting hungrier and hungrier ever day since they wernt hunters and his dad was gone down underground mining it was only his 12 year old brother his mom and him. He looked down to his swollen and dirt feet with a sigh hoping his name was not going to get pulled out of the stupid glass ball. Since it was reaping day he had to dress nice but he never liked that, it was his 3rd year in the ball and not once was he reaped before. But he was not sure this time. He hoped his brother wasn't going to get picked but it is part of the whole thing. Th Hunger Games.

Briar sat down in a wooden chair, looking into a mirror. Her mother was doing her in a braided bun. It took a while, then she did her big sister. Her mother did just a braid, since Iberis didn't want much for her hair. After that, their mother began to tear up in her eyes, afraid that one of them were going to be chosen during reaping.

"We'll be fine," Briar said to her, and then hugged her. "If any of us get chosen, we'll try to win for you." Briar got up and walked out the front door. She saw the cattle and horses and began to walk with the others to the reaping.

Briar looked at all the other boys and girls. They seem so nervous. Why do we have to do this?? We're all non- careers. We don't train for these gruesome games, she thought. But the Capital wouldn't stop, she thought. She kept walking, her sister catching up to her. Who's going to be in it this year? Briar thought nervously. She stopped a few times, feeding some livestock placing their heads over the fences.

"If I get chosen, don't you volunteer for me," Briar said to her sister, Iberis.

Riley scowled as her mother talked her into putting her shoes on right before going to the reaping. It occurred to her that she wasn't nervous at all. Perhaps it was her parents, obviously fighting back tears. After all, they had lost their only other child less than a year ago and now are at the risk of losing her. She didn't even care how many times her name was in that glass ball. She knew it was less than some of the other kids around, with siblings they have to protect and feed. Standing in the square of her district with the other 15 year olds, she barely made eye contact with anyone. No one had volunteered from District 6 in years and she knew this year would be no different. If she was picked, there would be nothing to do but go to the Arena and fight to the death.
