She was dying, as a witch she had a level of resistance to the lizard demons power but it was burning away, David became enraged and grabed the cauldron of potion and threw it at the demon, spraying it with the vanquishing potion, it burned and dissapeard on the spot, then he was at her side "Vicky! I can save you!!" they both knew how, they had read it together in Vickys book of demons "David you ca-!!" he cut her off when he pressed his lips to hers, she could feels the demons fire rushing from her now, into David, he made a horrible gaging noise and fell to the ground, he had no resistance to the fire devouring the inside of his body, she gasped "David you IDIOT!!!" she ran to him crying "I'm not letting you die on me!!" she tried to kiss him back but he wouldn't let her, he kept pushing her away "David it's my job!! I am supposed to protect YOU!!" he gasped a laugh and spoke with difficulty "you said.... You protect.... humans from evil.... can't do that if..." "your human David!! I protect humans from demons and that includes you!!" she started crying "I should never have told you, I knew I was putting you in danger but I was stupid and selfish and now..." he tried to speak but all that came out was smoke, then the light left his eyes
