"Hey Sev," Lily said with a small smile. "How was your summer?" She asked him quietly.

Remus smiled slightly. "That's proabably true." He said with a small chuckle. He walked through the doors of the castle with the rest of the crowd. "I can't wait till the feast starts later...I'm starving." He murmured.

[Cloudsong]

James watched Lily and Snape with narrowed eyes. Why did Lily like him, and not me? he wondered.

Severus shrugged. "You know, same old, same old... my parents were fighting."

Lily frowned. "I'm sorry...I wish there was a way I could help." She murmured.

[Cloudsong]

Severus shrugged. "It doesn't matter that much," he said passively. "Were you hanging out with Potter on the train?" His voice was full of jealousy.

Lily looked down. "Yeah, I was, unfortunately. Echo wanted to hang out with the Marauders." She sighed. "But why does it matter?" She asked him quietly, still looking down. She heard the jealousy in his tone and she couldn't help but sigh again.

[Cloudsong]

Severus shrugged. "It doesn't," he lied. "Why do you like hanging out with Echo? She's horrible herself." He narrowed his eyes; Echo had been in on a few of the tricks played on him.

Lily narrowed her eyes at him. "She's my best friend, that's why. And don't talk about her that way." She looked away from him angrily.

[Cloudsong]

Severus flinched, but didn't argue. "I'm going in." His voice was quiet. "I'll see you after the feast." He ran up the steps, tripping on feet that people stuck out so that he would fall.

Echo wandered over. "What's up?" she asked Lily quietly.

Lily watched Severus leave, then she sighed and put on a fake smile. "Nothing." She answered quietly. "C'mon, lets get to the Great Hall. Hoepfully the Sorting this year will be short, so we can eat." She murmured.

Remus was already seated at the Griffindor table, along with James and Sirius.

Echo nodded. "I'm starving!" she agreed, trotting over towards the castle.
