Mallory lay in bed, silent and motionless, as she had been laying for hours. She had always had difficulty sleeping, but it had become harder during the past week. Mal's mom opened the door, and quietly said, "Mal, are you asleep?" Mal was still. Her mom sighed and closed the door. Mal knew that her mother knew she was awake, but she let her be. After a while, Mal's eyes finally closed as she gave way to sleep. As soon as she was asleep, she landed with a thud on some dirt. "Woah. Where am I?"

"Ed! Ed! EDMUND GREGORY YOU GO UPSTAIRS THIS INSTANT!" Ed sprinted out of the basement. "Sorry mum, I lost track of time. I'm going to bed now. Love you." He gave his mom a quick kiss on the cheek and went up to his work, saying good night to his father on the way upstairs. He got into bed, only then realizing how absolutely exhausted he was. Ed crashed as soon as his head touched the pillow. As soon as he had started dreaming, he found himself in an unknown place. "Where am I?" he said with wonder as he looked around.
