Rae
Rae heard a howl and howled back, a long howl, then after he cut the howl off he looked at the young female, a smile on his lips, "I'm eight hundred years old." He answered, flicking his tail, pausing for a moment to think, "Now, on to the story." He said, laying down and tucking his paws carefully under his chest, then in the voice of an elderly storyteller, he began,
"Thousands of years ago, large, winged beasts roamed Egypt and the other lands, far away from here, some even lived in the water. They were of many colors, from a red as the brightest rubies, to as black as the darkest nights, some were good, and some evil, and some were neither good nor bad, they were known for their good deeds, but also for their vicious wars against each other and humans, which in the end, led to their ultimate demise, but I was told of a dragon, he was said to be as pure as the water from an oasis, and as white as the snow atop a mountain, but he was colder than ice with a heart of gold and a temperment more destructive than anything. He was said to be the first dragon to raom the earth, and he begged the gods for a mate to produce more offspring, and so the second dragon came about, and this female was as gold as the Pharoh's casket, with eyes like sapphires and wings that shimmered like morning dew, and the male fell in love with this beauty, and so the dragon race began." He paused for a moment, hearing something running and coming slightly closeer, then shook his head and continued with his story.
"The dragons quickly populated the earth, mating and creating offspring of all kinds, water dragons, air dragons, earth dragons, any kind you could think of probably existed once, and so life went on for thousands more years, until the humans began the slaughter." He let another pause for effect as he looked at the two younger mithrellian, his eye changing colors rapidly as he told the story, adding an effect of realism. "The humans had killed the dragon princess and prince, they wanted to control the dragons, and the king of the dragons was devastated, along with his golden queen, and they attacked the humans, in return, but the humans kept on their warpath, and so did the dragons, for they were to prideful to let humans best them in a fight, and the war was a bloody one, thousands of humans and dragons died on a bloody battlefeild, and then the dragonslayers were created, they specilazed in tracking, hunting, and killing dragons at all costs, and so they did. By the time the dragons tried to fight back once more, it was already to late, their pride own had bested them and brought their downfall." He blinkind his eyes as he ended his story, then spoke again, "But I have heard that atop the tallest mountain, the great white dragon and his queen of gold still live, to sad to try and recreate their race." He finished, then stood, streatching out his long legs and shaking out his fur.
