I Still Loved You
A light shone around you
I was lured like a moth
Your smile bright and charmed
I was weakened at the knees
Your eyes full of light and promise
I was fooled by the butterflies in my stomach
Your chiseled features inviting
I accepted with no knowledge
You opened your arms and brought me in
Like a fool, I allowed it
My heart beated for you
My breath came for you
My thoughts were for you
My soul existed for you
My smile shone for you
And my eyes worshiped you
You took my heart
You took my breath
You took my thoughts
You took my eyes
You took my smile
And then you took my soul
With your hands you
Shredded my soul with a smile,
tore my thoughts and demolished them with judgment,
smacked the smile off of my lips,
beat the breath out of my lungs,
and blinded my eyes while you did so
All that time I still stood by your side
I still loved you
My heart still beated for you
and I still worshipped you
Then you took a knife and struck me down
You ripped my heart out and held it in your hand as it beated
You smiled as you tore it apart
Then you threw it at me as I bled onto the street
But I still loved you
Through the pain,
I still loved you
Through the cruelty,
I still loved you
Through your hatred for me,
I still loved you
Through my dieing breath,
I still loved you
