I wake up from my gentle snooze and stand, regaining my perfect posture. Slowly, I walk into my kennel, take several sips of water, and then walk out. I yawn, as I'm walking back to the area where all the dogs are. As I walk, I notice, out of the corner of my eye, another dog. He, too, was alone. I cautiously walk over. "Hello. I'm River." I say with a warming smile. I bow my head and stare into his royal blue eyes. "You are?" I ask softly.

Chief smiled and nuzzled her.
