I remember that day in the woods, where I was hunting- outside the district's borders. I would have been in serious trouble, had it not been for our king's best warrior....
I was hiding behind a tree when I saw him coming. He had two other warriors with him, a girl and a boy. All three had sleek swords that could kill someone with a single blow. After he sent the two away- for whatever reason- I knew I had been caught.
"Come on out. I know you're there."
Sighing, I put my arrow back into my quiver, then turned to face the warrior before dropping my bow. "Alright. Hang me if you will." I spoke, my voice quiet and soft.
But he shook his head, gesturing for me to go. He wasn't going to take me in. He was sacrificing himself. For me. I mouthed the words 'Thank you', before grabbing my bow and dashing back towards our district.
Now ever since I've still gone back to hunt- and every day he's been there too. Waiting- just to see me again. All I know is, I'll wait for him, too.
{Ack- this could be much better. I'll work on it more later. }

She was practicing the only thing that got others to notice her: archery. She aimed just above his head, looking down above him and the rest of the crowd on the roof of her apartment building.
He heard the arrow just above him, tilts his head to look at the girl just before she covers her paw with her mouth. He scrambles up the fire escape to get to her.
Breathless as the wind whips around them, he speaks.
"Who are you?"
She looks at him with a look mixed of sadness and resentment, and when her voice, a posh English accent, comes into play, it is soft and remorseful.
"Why would you want to know? I'm just a girl with a heart of stone, one who can get broken as easily as snapping a twig." She gestures to her leg, which he hadn't noticed before, with a sad smile.
"See?"
A faint smile plays around his lips as he studies her face eagerly.
"Why do you hide behind your suffering?" he says gently. "If you want, I can help you ease away the pain."
She looks at him, amazed. "You would do that?"
"You picked me out of the crowd. I picked you when you tried to hide. I'd say we're pretty even." He smiles at her, and she smiles back, her first real smile in ages.
"Really?" she says moving closer.
"Really, definitely." he says as he closes the gap between them as their lips meet and the snow and the wind swirls around them.
And the crowd moves on around them.
