After Dream was done breeding with Whisper, she talked to him softly and calmly, “Whisper, you go ahead and go back to the meadow and Willow. You haven’t talked to her in a while. I’m going to stay here for a while, then I’ll go back to the field.” Dream watched the strong stallion walk away, she was watching his muscles flex under his painted coat. The sun was starting to dip down a little bit when Whisper was out of her sight. Once Whisper was gone, Dream started to roam around the deep, dimly lighted forest. She went to find a soft patch of grass to nibble on for a while because she was very hungry. As Dream let her head fall down to the solid Earth, she felt a cold chill run down her neck and into her back all the way to her whipcords. Night was coming and a little bit of fog was starting in the great forest. Dream nibbled on some grass, it was sweet and juicy. The blades of grass held some small water droplets, from all of the dew that was building up. Dream was starting to grow very tired now. She lied down on the grass and put her head down on a flower softly. Dream was just laying there, listening to all of the small crickets chirp. As Dream was on the ground, her eyelids began to slowly make there way over her beautiful, glossy pools, then Dream feel asleep. Her stomach was rising and falling in a timely manner. Her heart started to pound slower and slower until it was at the normal heart rate of a horse sleeping. While she was sleeping, a dream of her own began to start up. Dream was in a meadow, just like Whisper’s. All of a sudden, she began to pick up a slow rythmatic canter. She was cantering away from a stream, and then she looked back and saw a foal. The brilliant foal was taking in big gulps of water. The foal was actually a colt. That colt though, was her own colt. He looked so gorgeous, even though she couldn’t see his coat. The sun was shinning to brightly and it was reflecting off of the young colts coat, into her dark, wondrous pools. Dream stopped and waited for him, and then he moved his little pillars towards Dream awkwardly. The little foal was very clumsy on his feet, so he tripped a few times before he actually got to his mother. Dream nickered to her baby, and then started to walk again, but instead of going forward she went backwards. Dream headed behind her foal’s rump and nudged him a little bit, urging him into a more forward pace. Slowly the colt began to trot a little bit. He was a little wobbly at first, but then began to move a long quickly. Dream was trotting along side him and then nickered to him. He nickered back and then began to move in an even faster pace. Dream laughed a little and caught up to him. Then Dream stopped and her head shot up. She let out a scared whinny towards her foal, telling him to stop and come back. The young colt did as she said and trotted up to his mother. The colt could see a very worried expression upon his mother’s face and then rushed to her side as quickly as possible, wanting her comfort. Dream looked down at her colt and licked his forehead. She let out a smile as best as she could. She sensed danger, she guess it was a stallion. She lifted her head up high and let out a shrill whinny, warning any other horse to stay away. Then in a split second, a large horse came thundering out from behind the corner. It was covered in a black mist-like blanket. Every time one of his hooves touched the ground, the terrain shook in fear. Dream stood her ground, and tried to make herself look strong. The dark stallion was soon yards away from Dream and her colt. His nostrils flared, each time he let out a single breath. Dream had never seen this stallion before, or at least she thought. Dream figured that the stallion was here to take her colt, but she wasn’t going to let him. She knew there was going to be a fight, but still she held her ground. Dream was very strong willed and would do anything for her baby. Dream nudged the foal backwards, and she took a few steps forward, Dream was not sure about how this was going to end, but she wasn’t about to show the stallion her fear that was swelled up inside of her and back down to him. Dream let out her long neck towards the stallion and opened her mouth. Her large pearls showed brightly in the sun, she bit the stallion on the nose and it down hard. The stallion tried to do the same to Dream but failed, so he reared up at her and brought his large pillars down on top of her. They hit with a big thud and Dream whenced a bit. The stallion had brought Dream down so that she was keeling on her front knees. Dream got right back up, but before she was up completely, the dark stallion lunged at the colt. The colt confused with all of the commotion darted back towards the stream, but he was to late. The stallion nicked him on the young colts rear. Dream darted towards the large stallion and grabbed his whipcords and yanked hard. The stallion took a few steps backward in pain and then kicked Dream so hard that she had let go and then she stumbled to the ground in agony. The young colt who was still galloping as fast as he could turned his head back and saw his mother lying on the ground and the stallion chasing after him. Dream tried to get back up but couldn’t because she had gotten hurt so bad. Dream looked at her colt being run out of the meadow by a stallion. She was so mad but very sad at the same time. She was mad because no matter how hard she tried Dream couldn’t do anything for her foal. Dream was sad because that was the last time she would ever see her handsome, young colt. Dream looked at the stallion one more time then blinked. When she had blinked, the stallion became Whisper. Dream blinked again and both of them were gone, out of sight, nowhere to be found. Finally Dream woke up from her nightmare. She was breathing heavily and she got up as quickly as possible. Her heart was pounding so hard, Dream thought it was going to pound out of her chest. Once Dream realized where she was and that it was just a dream, she started to calm down a bit. Dream started to walk out of the forest, towards the meadow. It had only been a few minutes since she had fallen asleep, so it was still a little bright out. Dream heard someone call to her and she figured it was Whisper. She didn’t care what he wanted right now because she just wanted to calm done and forget about that dream. Dream had just reached the tree line when she saw Whisper with Willow; she let out a little smile towards them. Good for you Whisper. You’re spending time with Willow and I’m sure she’s very happy right now. Dream got back to thinking about her nightmare once she was near a tree in the meadow. How can such a sweet dream, that was so wonderful, become a horrible nightmare? Dream stood under the tree was all of the horses, still in a fog from her little nap.
"If I smell like peppermints,
I was feeding my horse treats.
If I smell like shampoo,
I was giving my horse a bath.
If I smell like manure,
I tripped."
