AdamKaitlyn's green eyes scanned the people in the cafe. Her presence was often expected, she came every day for a caramel-chocolate latte. Though everyone knew she was coming, every eye was on her as she walked up to the counter and ordered her drink. Hearing quiet murmurs, often along the lines of "beautiful", "gorgeous", "princess", "stuck-up", those being only a few.
Her father, the king, didn't like her going out into town alone, without the aid of a knight or some other sort of royalty to assist her. He thought she was meeting with men to marry. However, this princess wasn't interested in love. If she met men anywhere outside her castle's territory, it was just a good friend or something. Her friends never tried to make a move on her, no matter how much they secretly loved her, they knew how annoyed she got when someone tried getting her to date them. She got marriage proposals from men every day, and she wouldn't normally mind if they had been young, handsome men with a great personality, but the marriage proposals she got were often from old, fat men with pig noses and a horrible personality to match. These types of men disgusted her, in fact, she usually left in a storm of anger, leaving the men with a black eye or a red mark on their cheek were she had either punched or slapped them.
Finally her drink was ready. Kaitlyn payed the $3.50 for it, then clutched the warm drink between her grey paws. She walked over to a table and sat down gently. Her paws brought the drink up to her lips and she took a small sip, letting the drink warm her up. Bringing the drink down, she sighed and glanced around the cafe once more. Her blonde hair fell in front of one eye as her bright green tiara fell down. She smiled lightly and pushed her tiara up, then flipped her hair out of her eye. Reaching into her pocket, Kaitlyn brought out a small white iPod and stuck her headphones into her ears. She turned on 'Crashed' by Chris Daughtry, and hummed along with it.
Soon Kaitlyn was done with her drink. Pulling her headphones out of her ears, she stuck her iPod back into her pocket and stood up. Her legs brought her out of the door, throwing her empty cup into the nearest garbage can as she walked. Sighing, Kaitlyn turned right to get to her home. She looked down as she walked, as it had began to rain. The rain felt good, and she smiled and gently tipped her head back to the sky, letting the cool drops of water wet her face. She closed her eyes and an even bigger smile appeared on her face, not thinking about looking where she was going. Suddenly she crashed into somebody and fell to the wet sidewalk. She looked up into the dark eyes of a villager. He looked shocked. "Uh... sorry.." He stuttered, seeming ashamed and embarrassed to have run into someone, especially a princess.
Kaitlyn laughed and said cheerfully, "It's alright." She smiled as the man slowly extended his arm to help her up. She graciously took his hand and he pulled her up carefully, as if he was afraid to hurt her while pulling her off of the ground. Again Kaitlyn spoke. "You don't have to treat me like glass." She said, crossing her arms, raising her eyebrows, and getting an impatient look on her face. "I'm no china doll."
The man bit his lip. "Sorry...." He apologized again, flinching like she was going to hit him. Kaitlyn sighed and smiled. "It's alright..." She said as she shook her head, attempting to get at least a bit dryer. The villager got a horrified look on his face, as if he had forgotten it was raining. He gently grabbed her hand and rushed her underneath a nearby canopy that jutted out from an entrance to an apartment. She smiled, the warmth of his paws warmed hers, though she had green gloves on that matched her tiara and eyes.
"So... you're princess Kaitlyn?" The man asked, his face turning red. Kaitlyn laughed and shook her head, rolling her eyes. "Yes. And you are?..." The princess asked, smiling.
"I'm Adam..." He said, hiding his face for a moment. "I know, it's extremely ordinary."
"Mine is too, I hear it just about everywhere. I don't feel the need to be recognized by an unusual name, though, so it doesn't bother me too much." Kaitlyn smiled. Her blonde hair fell in place of her eye again, but this time she didn't move it.
Adam smiled.
What a nice smile... Kaitlyn thought. When he smiled, it was like his whole face lit up. He didn't need words to express his emotions, it was all on his face. It made Kaitlyn feel happy when he smiled, and she could feel a warmth inside of her when he smiled. Suddenly she realized something-- she was...
in love. Something she never would have thought was possible if she hadn't met Adam. She bit her lip at the realization and said hurriedly, "I have to go." She pulled a pen out of her pocket, and scribbled her phone number onto Adam's hand. Then she turned and fled home.
That night, Kaitlyn lay in bed, thinking.
I'm in love. I'm in love. I'm in- Suddenly a knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. "What the-?" She thought. She walked over to her bedroom door and called, "Who is it?"
No answer. Kaitlyn, slightly creeped out, opened the door. She looked around. No one was there. Then she looked by her feet- a small white envelope was on the floor. Frowning suspiciously, Kaitlyn bent over and picked it up. It was a beautiful envelope, trimmed to fit the letter inside it exactly, brimmed with lace and silk, with a pink heart sticker sealing it. Not wanting to ruin the envelope, Kaitlyn gently picked at the bottom of the sticker until it popped off, and the flap of the envelope opened. A small piece of paper fit in the envelope. She dug her fingers into the white paper until they closed around the letter. She pulled it out and read the cover font;
To my dearest Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn sighed, thinking it was a letter from one of those greedy pigs that just wanted her for her beauty. However, she opened it anyway. Inside, some letters were branded together in perfect cursive to form out the words,
"
Dear Kaitlyn,
If you are reading this, it means that one of your soldiers have not burned it as they usually do. Maybe they knew it was special by the envelope's appearance. Right now, however, it does not matter. I have to tell you something.
-Adam." There was no more. Kaitlyn hollered in frustration.
What did he need to tell her?!She dropped the letter in anger and stormed over to her bed. The letter landed cover down, and Kaitlyn glared angrily at it until she realized that some words were scribbled onto the back of it. She bent away from her bed and picked it up, and read the words. They said,
I love you.--
They say Cupid is a myth, a fake story to keep people believing in love; but maybe, just maybe Cupid is real. Maybe he just happened to be looking at Adam and Kaitlyn at the exact moment they ran into each other, and cast his love spell onto them. To make them believe, and keep them away from the non-believers, and to show others that it was real.
And as they say, opposites attract.

This is too long and too terrible. :s
