Night of the MockingJay



"It is to my great pride to which I announce the beginning of the 42nd Hunger Games!"

Before Katniss was born the Hunger Games raged still to the entertainment of the capital, hope had fallen with the rebellion and District 13 so now each tribute must once more fight for their lives in this year's Hunger Games.


This year is piticularly special though, with this years preview of the Hunger Games comes a gift....

This is a very special year for the tributes of the 42nd Hunger Games!
For the first and only time ever each tribute will recieve a MockingJay as the arrive in the Capital.

This MockingJay will be theirs to train as they wish as it will enter the Hunger Games with them however be forwarned, these MockingJay's will be caught wild, having no connection to people it will be a true test of a new bond....

Personality-
Jace has what people like to call a duel-personality, he has the good and the evil both pure, both strong, both powerful. At his best Jace actually allows himself to feel and all emotions are heightened and his heart pure. At his worst Jace is a murdering monster filled with hate and incapable for love, not knowing that love could save him. Jace is extremely flirty and persuasive, his feelings strong when he allows them and his heart pure when he feels love. He is deadly in more ways than one, deadly proud, deadly attractive, deadly dangerous and deadly addictive...
History-
As the brother of a previous contestent the game and is ways was printed on his brain like a third degree burn, but just like a burn he does not like to think over how he received it or who he was before. Jace does not dwell on the past and believes it to be an unnecessary burden for any being.

She has a cold outer shell and a warm inside. She values her pride over life and would do anything to save a person she loves. She has one of those charming personality's that no one seems to be able to shake. She can have sarcasm and make anyone laugh. Be emotional enough to move people to tears.
She doesn't see what others see in herself though, which is such a shame sometimes. Someone who really loves her could be right under her nose and she wouldn't be-leave it for a second.

Her favorite is a pair of throwing knives but she does well with hand to hand combat and with a bow.

She has always loved to draw, though she always had to use the coal that's left on her shoes to draw or extra pencils from her school, though there was never very many. Her favorite color is blue.

He adores attention and doesn't like to be too far away from Katlyn. He tends to be feisty against other players, one of the reasons he hasn't been picked by other competitors. Also for his bright feathers, he attracts attention that may mean life or death in the arena. He loves to sing and be happy, lazily drifting in the air currents above Katlyn and giving out a warning call if danger is near. In the week he had been with Katlyn, she had gained his trust and the loyalty that can only be given when earned. May times as she slept beside him on a chairwhen he could not bear the cage that the Capital forced all Mocking Jays into.

Personality
She's not the most friendly person, but will get on well with anyone she considers to be her equal. Fenced in school, and uses that as a way to manage her frustration with people in general. She would never have volunteered for the Hunger Games, but isn't particularly scared of being a tribute.

Strengths: wicked good with a sword, brilliant with machines, logical

Weaknesses: not great with people, short temper, weapons skill next to none if not using a sword

History
Grey, like most of the people in District Three, is naturally good with machines and computers. Following an accident that killed her mother and father in the electronics factory where they worked, she was taken to the community home where she took over her father's job as a computer programmer to earn some extra money for herself in order to better support herself at the home.

She was never a very outgoing person, but the death of her parents, then the death of ver older sister in he Hunger Games two years before rattled her. She took up fencing as an activity during school in order to get her anger out, and soon became known as one not to cross. She's wicked good with a sword (able to knowck arrows out fo the air with one if need be) and isn't afraid of killing someone if her life is in danger.

Laeth is certainly not the most friendly of Mockingjays, and didn't exactly take kindly to being captured and forced to work with a tribute in the Hunger Games. He's brilliant, certainly, for a bird anyway, and it's no surprise that he was matched with a tribute from district three. However, the test is yet to come to see if he can give up his wild nature to become an asset to tribute Arain Grey.

Personality
Nix is usually quite cautious as a result of many harsh experiences, she is quite friendly and loyal once you get to know her, she is honest and wouldn't break a truse however she dosn't rely on others to have the same outlook on things.

Despite her usually friendly personality when befriended, Nix prefferes to kill by assasination, she find's it safer to be out of sight when she makes a kill. Some have called her cowardly for this however she dosn't take any notice.
She only considers critisizm when it is actually constructive, insult her and find a whip mark across your neck....

Weapons
She is skilled in the use of knives, large one and small fiddly things, it was essential in her schooling considereing hers was the district of lifestock.
Her two main weapons though are her whip which she uses with deadly accuracy however it is her knowledge of sensetive points on a persons body that is the main thing that keeps her alive, knowing exactly where to strike to cause the most pain or the most bleeding.

In a physical fight she would usually be outmatched, indicating why she preferes assasination.

History
When she was just ten years old her mother died of an drugs overdoase and her father had been killed in a stampede, since it was all in the space of a few months Nix became absolutley convinced that it was the fault of the capotal, she would rant and rave to anyone who heard her however after several whippings and a near death sentence Nix learned to hold her tongue.

She was sent to live with her aunt who didn't care for her, it was a mutual 'You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' type deal, Nix brought home what predators she caught hanging around the cows, sheep or whatever she was sheaperding and in return she was allowed to stay however it was never more then that.

She had always been apathetic about the thought of the Hunger Games, she knew she couldn't change it so she wasn't going to worry and she didn't for a very long time....

Personality
Nightlock if very protective over Nix, often putting himself in harms way in order to protect her from a threat, he has gotten hurt many times this way however it has obviously never been fatal.

Nightlock is very intelligent, he has memorized many tunes from Nix and their meanings, he seems to have an intelligence beyond other mockingjays and this has been put down to further experimentation by the capital on the birds parents however nothing has been confirmed.

Nightlock is very skilled and as said before he has memorized many tunes although obviously no human speech, he knows how to attack and fight, using his long beak to go for the eyes/

THE ARENA



The arena this year is a large array of bushland, full of poisonous snakes unnatural to the land though, a few deer and rabbit have been spotted coexisting with Kangaroo and some echidna.



There is a large wide river coursing through the arena and a concopia at it's center where there is a small clearing.

Each tribute will have their first post as being chosen for the reapings.
After everyone has posted we will skip to the coundown to the beginning of the Hunger Games to avoid boredom due to the lack of interaction!

Nix & NightLock

Nix shook her head, attempting to rid herself of the painfull images of her Mockingjay, hurt somewhere or being stalked by vicious beasts that roamed around District 10, waiting for a chance to take one of the cattle, sheep or chickens.
She looked around at the busy square, painful memories of a stinging lash across her back from when she was younger, speaking out against the capital, fuled by the rage and grief that still seemed raw inside her.

Unable to go and look for NightLock after he had failed to return from one of his usual morning flights around the district, the apparent loss of her bird had caused her to become irritable and withdrawn, attempting to convince herself he was going to be ok and back to her soon, right after the reapings.

All heads turned and voices hushed as a young woman strode carefully onto the stage, it seemed to be traditional for all these people to have the stupidest coloures in their hair, the last one was like that too but she had just retired, to be replaced by this one who seemed just as flouncy as the last, Litti Vionet her name was.
Nix kept her face carefully blank as the mayor told the history of Panem in a voice that suggested he was proud of the horrible things the capital did.

"It's time for the Hunger Games once more! How exciting! Don't you think?" Litti aked the crowd which returned with half hearted cheers, brought on by the thought of the stinging whip,
"And the gentelmen will allow ladies the first pick" She went on with a smile, dipping her hand into the great glass ball and plucking a single slip of paper from it's depths, reading it out in a high clear voice.
"Nix Tempesedo"

Nix climbed the steps to the stage as if she were in a dream, the shock masked the fear for now but she knew it would show later, she couldn't believe that after all the bad things that had happened now she was going to die, turning her head she looked into the crowed as Litti called the male tribute...
