Arynn tried to think, "well Skip let me have some of the grayling he caught one time in the Abbey pond, and I thought that the way Friar Rem cooked it made it taste the best. I've also tried raw fish, and I thought it was pretty nice." He paused, then continued, "but for you, I thought you had acorn bread before, and also special summer salad with acorns it it.....didn't you?"

Rose shrugged. "I didn't know acorn bread and summer salad grew on trees." she said, her ears flicking in amusement and her eyes twinkling.

Arynn laughed, "no Rose, I meant the acorns in the salad and bread. They're usually found on oak trees. As for fish, they're in streams, rivers, lakes, and other stuff like that."

Rose sniffed hautily. "I did learn something at Redwall, you know." she said, with mock severity. "I meant that I had never tried raw arorns, by themselves." she continued, losing her previous tone.

Arynn stopped smiling, "well I'm sorry miss Rose." He turned to go up the stairs. "I think we should actually go find something to eat now. It's getting kind of late."

Rose nodded in agrement. "Well, what are wewaiting for?" Rose asked, skipping past Arynn, up the stairs

Arynn went outside and extinguished his torch in the soil outside. He went over to the nearby stream and looked down, but saw nothing. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the huge oak tree had many acorns on it, "Rose!! Look!!" He pointed upwards.

Rose saw the tree and ginned widely. "Yum!" she said happily. She scampered up the tree. She ran over some of the thin top branches, jumping up and down to free the nuts. In no time the acorns were raining down. She didn't noticed the four pair of eyes that gleamed in darkness, watching thier every move.

Arynn turned back too the stream, looking for a flash of silver. One shot across his vision and his paw lashed out, and a flopping dace went onto the bank. He quickly snagged two more, and continued to stare, never noticing the eyes behind him.

Rose had finished jumping around and there was a thin layer of acorns on the ground. She watched Arynn for a couple of seconds, then scampered down the tree head first. She jumped and sailed through the air the last few feet from the ground. She did a small flip and ended up on her paws, her tail turned to the tree. It was then she noticed the glowing orbs, given away by the last light of the dying sun.
