Jonnan
Age
29
Gender
Female
Rank
Senior Weyrwoman
Personality
Jonnan is generally a trustworthy young woman, who enjoys a good laugh. She can be a bit snarky when she hasn't had a good cup of klah. There isn't much you can do to change her mind once she has made it, and even her enemies know that she has the best interests of Pern in mind. Unlike some other riders would have you believe, Jonnan can be the kind of person that will harm others if they need it. She won't hurt dragons though, that would just be uncivilized. She respects holders and crafters, despite her often rude ways of dealing with them. Only a few have her friendship.
History
Jonnan grew up in Tillek hold, the daughter of a fisherman and his wife. She was well on her way to becoming an accomplished ship captain, but this all changed when she was identified as a potential candidate in a Search at 11. She went to Benden, but was rejected by the queen that was there. It was two years until another queen egg was laid, and she was allowed to try to Impress the new queen again. This time she succeeded, walking off the hatching ground with young queen Mirnith. She was trained as any other weyrling queen would be, and when the old queen died, she was selected as the one to become the new weyrwoman.
Weyrmate
R'nis
Children
She has had one child with R'nis, his name is Fauvrin.
.: Dragon :.
Mirnith
Age
16
Color
Gold
Personality
Mirnith is very protective of her weyr. Her memory is short, but she can always remember people. It is nearly impossible to find her when she is hiding, and just as hard to fool her. She can see through tricks, traps, lies, and and secrets, but she can be trusted to do the thing that is best for her weyr.

zippyzoo77 wrote:"What!?" Jonnan demanded when she learned what Fauvrin had done this time. Even though Jonnan wasn't the boy's foster mother, she couldn't help but care a bit about her son. Firelizards were pests to her, a sentiment that Mirnith certainly didn't share.
Do not punish F'rin. I like him. Mirnith told her rider. She quite liked the boy, and even though she was told that Fauvrin wasn't a dragonrider yet, she insisted on calling him F'rin, especially now that he had firelizards.
"But I have to do something, these dratted firelizards get into everything. I have a weyr to protect too." Jonnan was not in the best of moods right now, but she felt obliged to listen to what Mirnith said. It wasn't like the boy could have helped himself, the eggs were magnets for many of the young boys at the hold. She couldn't fault him for being interested. Maybe Mirnith was right, and a few firelizards wouldn't hurt.
I can ask them to leave you be if you would like? Mirnith offered, knowing quite well that Jonnan wasn't the most friendly person to firelizards.
"No, I have to get used to them sometime. It may as well be sooner rather than later." Jonnan admitted to herself and her dragon. She knew the time would have come eventually, but hopefully they wouldn't be too bad.

R'nis
Age
34
Gender
Male
Rank
Weyrleader
Personality
R'nis is a bit strict about things. He likes order, and can't stand people joking around. Strangely enough, he doesn't mind firelizards. He wishes he could Impress one, but knows that Jonnan isn't fond of the creatures. When someone in the weyr has ideas that contradict his, he will usually try to sway them to think otherwise. This has been his way ever since he was a boy, and it is one of the reasons he is as good of a weyrleader as he is today. His diplomatic skills are great, he usually succeeds in getting what is best for his weyr.
History
R'nis was born in Keroon hold, and was found on a search when he was 16. He didn't succeed in Impressing a dragon that time, but stayed in Benden rather than going back to Keroon. There was nothing in Keroon for him, he just got into trouble. He wasn't by anymeans important, just the third son of two farmers. The next time an Impression came around he walked onto the sands, very confidenly I might add, and soon walked off with a Bronze. He trained hard as a weyrling, and in four years, he had become one of the best wingleaders the weyr had ever seen. Six years after that, the somewhat elderly wingsecond died of a severe coughing sickness (pneumonia) he was chosen to be the new wingsecond. Then a year after that the weyrleader and weyrwoman retired to southern, leaving him and Jonnan in charge of Benden. He is Fauvrin's father.

Please have Preth tell J'nes to instruct the the weyrlings to prepare the firestone sacks now. R'nis asked his dragon telepathically, all the while sipping on his klah in the main dining hall. He always liked to be available to riders before a fall, especially if any of them were concerned beyond the normal sense of fear with a hint of anticipation.
It was only moments after he asked that Sarnath responded, The sacks are full and ready, the weyrlings are becoming experienced, soon they will fly Thread. Sarnath's confidence provoked a smile on R'nis's face. It was always good to know that the weyrlings were doing well, since they were the future of the weyr.

Kossa
Age
17
Gender
Female
Rank
Weyrling
Personality
Kossa is a terribly shy young girl. She rarely speaks, and when she does it is usually softly. But her close friends will see her laughing and smiling, just as any other girl her age would. When Kossa is confronted or threatened she becomes very defensive, both in stance and in words. She knows how to protect herself if the need should arise, but it is much more common for her to just avoid anyone who frightens her.
History
Kossa Impressed a green rather on accident. She was actually a candidate for the gold, but with all the excitement around her, she couldn't help but take a peek at the other Impressions around her. And that was all it took for her to see little Elniri fall out of her shell, and for all the boys to back away. She rushed over without thinking, and helped the little green up, and the Impression was made. Over the last year and four months, she has not once regretted that decision. She and Elniri are very close, even for a rider and her dragon. Though some people have ridiculed her for Impressing the wrong dragon, she knows that her Impression was not 'wrong' in any way, she and Elniri were the perfect pairing of a green dragon and rider. She is a bit worried about the day that Elniri will rise to mate though, even though there will be no eggs, she still worries about herself, knowing what will happen when the time comes.
Weyrmate
She is far too shy to have ever beomce attached to any men.
.: Dragon :.
Elniri
Age
1 year, 4 months
Color
Green
Personality
Elniri is much like her rider, but she lacks the shyness of the girl she has Impressed. She speaks out about every problem there is, but is typically kind and curteous about the way she says things. She really enjoys being Impressed to Kossa, even though Kossa can sometimes be too shy to follow with the other riders. Elniri is cautious when coming out of between unlike many of the younger dragons, but in the air she loves to do complicated spirals and twists. She flies fast and makes the best of her agility.

As the other weyrlings were only just arriving to their class today, Kossa was already seated in her position, her knuckles white from her relentless grip on the fighting straps. Today was their first flight between, and she was as nervous as they could be.
Don't worry Kossa, I will not let you down. Elniri said, trying to comfort her anxious rider. As a green they would be going last, but as the only girl green rider, Kossa would have more to prove than any of the boys.
I'm just nervous that's all. Kossa replied, a drastic understatement. She was practically shaking in her riding clothes, and she was sweating heavily.
Calm down, you must be in control of yourself Kossa. Remember what J'nes has taught you. Elniri's tone was one of authority, she knew that Kossa needed a strict hand at the moment, something to hold on to mentally as well as physically.

J'nes
Age
32
Gender
Male
Rank
Weyrling Master
Personality
J'nes is a strict man with his students, but he is known by everyone else in the weyr, especially his favorite students too, as a good man who loves being a dragon rider. He always speaks with authority, and and for the most part, people listen to him. He often becomes frustrated when people don't listen, and when that happens he can become downright violent. But he tries to take it out on the solid rock walls of his weyr, rather than on anything living. Though a few wherries have suffered at his hand over the years as a result of this. Preth still made use of them though.
History
J'nes grew up in Keroon, and was selected in the search the same year R'nis was selected. When he first Impressed a brown he was a bit upset, having not Impressed the only bronze, as R'nis had. Within and hour though, he was as happy as he could possibly be with his lovely brown dragon. J'nes and R'nis are half brothers on their father's side, and grew up together. They are close, but much more so now than they ever were before.
Weyrmate
J'nes has never had a solid steady weyrmate, though he has had several partners over the years, they were all short relationships.
.: Dragon :.
Preth
Age
17
Color
Brown
Personality
Preth is a very proud dragon, who likes to be in charge of things, though he rarely is. Unless they are the weyrling's dragons, then they have to listen. Preth has a natural gift for helping young dragons learn to fly, and how to go in and out of between. He loves to fly in the cold, but like most dragons, was never fond of the cold of between. He is very accurate about where he comes out of between, but never risks coming out too close to something unless he has to to avoid Thread.

J'nes arrived to the field where the weyrlings would be taking off for their flight between today, but not before his first student was already there. He actually liked Kossa quite a bit, for a green, her dragon was quite smart, and the girl was certainly not lacking in brains either. "Hello, you're certainly here early!" He called up to Kossa, who was already clutching the fighting straps.
"Hello J'nes, I hope I'm not too early." The reply came, it was hardly audible, but somehow it managed to find it's way to J'nes's ear.
"You're just fine Kossa, better early than late. But you might let up on the fighting straps, no need to clutch them that hard yet." J'nes said, a hint of happiness in his voice. He knew it was no use trying to relieve Kossa's nerves, they would probably be on edge all day.

K'ren
Age
17
Gender
Male
Rank
Weyrling
Personality
K'ren is very moody, one moment he will be lovable, kind, helpful, and happy, the next he could become cynical, pushy, and rude. The only thing that can stop him from going on angry rampages is Vanern, who really doesn't like it when he breaks things. But when K'ren is in a good mood, he is the perfect model of a responsible young dragonrider. He is in a good mood more often than a bad one, especially lately. Since four years ago when he impressed Vanern, he has become a much more relaxed man, rather than the uptight boy he used to be.
History
K'ren was raised in the Igen Weyr, but he was sent here for the Impression when he was 13, since he hadn't Impressed in Igen's last hatching. Benden had been short of candidates, and the bronzes at Igen still said he would probably Impress a dragon. Though R'nis had his doubts, he was soon proved wrong, when K'ren Impressed one of the first blue dragons to hatch that year.
Weyrmate
K'ren doesn't have a weyrmate.
.: Dragon :.
Vanern
Age

Color

Personality
Vanern is thoughful and calm. He takes it upon himself to calm K'ren whenever he becomes angry, since his rider often tries to break things or people when he is angered. Vanern always looks forward to Threadfall, since he flourishes in the environment where quick thought is necessary to survival. He has never once been injured in Threadfall, always timing his jumps between so that he comes out just right to flame Thread.

He had made a mistake this morning, and had accidentally led Vanern out of between ever so slightly low. Vanern had broken one of his claws on the rock, but otherwise he was unharmed, and K'ren didn't see why J'nes had to yell at him so much it scared Rossi. Vanern had assured K'ren that he would be fine, and that the claw would grow back in a day, but J'nes was still shouting at him.
J'nes stopped abruptly, seeing that K'ren was turning blue from lack of air. K'ren was releived when Rossi's tail loosened around his neck, and he could breathe freely again. "I understand J'nes, I will be more careful from now on." K'ren said, hopeing to end the lecture at that.
"You do that boy, or you just watch me have you weyrbound for a few weeks." J'nes said his voice still slightly raised. And at that he stalked out of the weyrling's cavern.

Just a kid.
Personality
Fauvrin is a naturally curious boy, who often gets into trouble with his father. He doesn't like chores, and is quite a bit of a rebel. He can't wait to become a candidate for Impression, but he probably won't be old enough at the next one. He has two firelizards already, but still looks up to those with dragons as superior because he thinks they are better than him.
History
Fauvrin was Jonnan and R'nis's first and, thus far, only child. He has lived in the weyr his whole life, and though others are annoyed by the smell of dragons, he has grown to like it. He has always wanted a dragon, despite already having two firelizards. His two firelizards were Impressed when he was six.

"No." That was Jonnan, Fauvrin's mother. "You know you aren't allowed to try to Impress a dragon yet. You're not old enough."
Fauvrin had been trying to convince Jonnan to let him be a candidate in the next hatching, but she wouldn't let him. He just wanted to Impress a dragon, but even his own mother wouldn't let him. "But there isn't any reason I couldn't! There was G'nil, last year, he was only nine, but he impressed a dragon!" Fauvrin argued. He stopped as Alarel swooped in and screeched at him loudly, seeming to agree with Jonnan.
"There, see even Alarel agrees with you. Now get him out of here. If I see your firelizards in here one more time I will send you to be fostered at a hold." Jonnan threatened. Fauvrin really didn't like Holds, there were no dragons there and people were always looking at him and his firelizards strangely. He sent Alarel back outside with a wave to the window.

Starbase Typhon is a roleplay run by me, off site. It is Star Trek based (but not the new movies, as you will see) and it definetly needs people who are willing to be active, write with great grammar, and of course, are semi-literate or above. Format is play by Nova, which involves multi-person posts that are a different way of doing things that here of CS. But it's lots of fun, and we need long term people who will help us complete our missions. As the commanding officer of Typhon, I invite anyone who would like to give it a try to please apply!
