The male cougar fought and hissed, but soon collapsed...not to Harkuru either. The male cougar now had a hole through his side...a bullet hole. He lay there, limp.

Denali hissed and fled to the mountains.

Cherokee gasped when she heard a second gunshot. She collapsed, unmoving.

The hunter smiled with his cougar prize. He now aimed for what he thought was a rabid black wolf.

"At least we'll know why they're crying sometimes." Wolfy added.

Langa nuzzled her back. ((Fade in.)

[Moon - Furry Luva]

harkuru dropped the dead cougar and looked at the hunter with death-like eyes. He then turned away and padded into the shadows unnseen by all. The only thing that kept him from being completely unfindable was his scent but humans couldn't smell as good as animals could so the human was unable to locate the black wolf. Harkuru chased after Denali, knowing exactly where he was going and used the shadows as cover."I'm going to bring you to the spirits one way or the other. I am your messanger of death. I am the one who will end your rein of terror once and for all." He snarled and kept up his pace right behind the cougar.

Cherokee lay there, unmoving. Her chest rising and falling with every struggled breath. She had been shot and now couldn't move.

Denali smirked. He wondered when the wolf would realize his mistake. He just hoped his father was right. ' this is the last time I play king... the cougar thought.

The true Denali smirked from within his den. He knew the hunters were out there.

[Moon - Furry Luva]

Hakuru stopped and stared up at the caves. He saw the cougar that claimed to be the true Denali but when he saw his paw, he knew it wasn't him. It wasn't the large cat whos' paw he broke. "This cat jumps with ease. It's not him. I can not take the life of another who I have no quarrel with." He thought to himself and carried on. He walked into the sunlight before it vannished behind a few clouds. He lifted his head and howled fearsly. "Denali! Come out! It's time for you to meet your end! And I don't want no fake this time!" His eyes were now red the color of crimson blood. They also ressembled the eyes of a demon that lusted for the blood of others.

Denali smirked as he heard the howl. He flicked his tail and licked his injured paw. He would wait this out, no use in fighting injured. He sent another cougar to meet the enraged wolf.

Cherokee was breathing shallow now, her spine was burning due to he bullet. She howled in pain.

The cougars ears shot up as he heard the faes howl. He smirked. "Looks like the hunters got your girl." He said laughing.

[Moon - Furry Luva]

Harkuru's head and ears shot up, his eyes widened, and his heart pounded in his chest as he heard Cherokee's cry of pain. Ignoring everything around him including what he was doing, he turned tail and sped off faster than any bullet back to the river and back to Cherokee. His ears lay flat against his head as the wind whipped his face. It stung but he ignored it the best he could. He lifted his head as he ran and howled back to her as loud as he could through the breeze as it rang through his ears scrambling his thoughts and making it hard for him to hear himself.

Cherokee lay on her side, hidden under the willow branches. She prayed that the hunter wouldn't find her. She knew she couldn't run, she couldn't even feel her hind legs. Her eyes widened as the hunter stopped right outside her hiding place.

He followed her scent to the willow and saw the hunter. He stopped, lowered his head, and snarled at the human. He knew Cherokee was somewhere close by and he wasn't about to let a human take her life. He waited for the human to turn around and try to shoot him but miss in fear as he leaps at the mane baring his fangs.

Cherokee perks her ears at the hunters scream. She was worried when she heard another shot ring out then silence. She closed her eyes, waiting for the worst.
