Alec rubbed his eyes as he sat up in bed. He yawned hugely.

Charlie was up early, as usual. Clad in denim cutoffs and a Paramore t-shirt, her henna-dyed hair pulled up into a messy ponytail, she stood in the horse stables. Indigo, a jet-black Arabian, stood on the other side of the stall. "Morning, boy," she greeted him happily. The stallion tossed his head, black mane flying. Charlie grinned and turned to the other horses, one a palomino mare and the other a dark-bay stallion. She rubbed the palomino's nose, murmuring, "Hello, April, love." The bay stallion snorted, stamping one hoof in an attempt to gain her attention, and she turned to him. "What?" She rolled her bright blue eyes and smirked. "And how are you this morning?" She clucked her tongue at the bay, who let out a nicker and stamped his hoof again. "You're a showoff, Atreyu," Charlie scolded playfully. "But you're just so pretty, you can get away with it." Atreyu tossed his black mane again and Charlie laughed. "Yeah, and you're fully aware of it, aren't you?


Draven was sitting silently in his cabin. Already dressed, he wore old jeans and a black t-shirt, his brown hair still touseled. He had his iPod turned almost fully up, earbuds firmly in his ears. Linkin Park blasted, drowning out any sound anybody else around might make. He was in a bad mood. Not that that was anything surprising. Draven was often in a bad mood. It was just how he was.

Melody sighed and stuffed her iPod in her back pocket, one earbud in her ear and the other hanging around her neck. She stepped on to her skateboard and pushed off almost imidiatly. She felt so alive, the wind whipping her cheeks and parting around her. It was one of her favourite things to do, almost like she was flying. She was now distracted by the song that came on, by FM Static, and succeeded in falling face first off the board. She landed with a dull thud, the skateboard rolling into a tree.

Cassidy hopped lightly out of her grandmothers beaten up old caddilac, stumbling a bit on the un-even ground. She righted herself, flipping to send her mother a little wave before hefting her bags out of the back seat. When the whir of the window alerted her to her mothers onslaught of tears, she shuffled to the window, her bags in tow.
"I love you, I'll watch out for snakes, I won't drown, and I wont get prego!"
She said in a rush, pecking her mom then flipping with purposeful strides towards the nearest cabin. Her mother sat bewildered, doing her best to smile and wave. Cassidy cringed, and the realized she had no idea what cabin she was assigned to this year. Perfect. she thought as she stood, alone.
