That's great. :D I'm glad to hear it.
Let us know what happens. <33
Fairwell Chickensmoothie! It was a good run.
If there is anyone who I unfortunately left any loose ends open with when I originally disappeared from the site near the end of 2012, you're welcome to drop a PM if you'd like to try to resolve them. It has admittedly been far too many years for me to remember precisely what all may have been left unsettled.
In addition, if anyone sees this and would like to try to reestablish contact, you're more than welcome to drop me a message as well. I'll try to poke my head in over the next few months at the least in case any of the above happens, but cannot guarantee how often messages will be checked after that.
Best Regards,
HOWLING

-p a r t . o n e--f o u r-My lower lip trembled as I looked up . . . up at a monstrous city. It towered over me like New York never was, about the size of an Eiffel Tower and a half or so, stacked on top of each other. It was thin, modern, and pure white.
As I stood there, dumbfounded, a felt something brush past me. I let out a short, quiet scream, shutting my mouth when I remembered myself. "Wh-who's there?" I called bravely, a noticeable tremor in my voice. "Who is it! Come out an face me!" Someone tapped my shoulder; I jumped, screeching again, and whirled around to find an . . . an . . .
An alien was staring at me with huge, pale, bulbous eyes. It was plump, too, and a flattened beak protruded from what looked to be the eyes, which, also, didn't blink. I whimpered as the black thing stared at me, blankly.
"May I ask the same of you?" The voice was rusty, thin as a sheet of ice; I could break him easily, it looked.
I looked at him in shock, still. “I-I’m Ivory. Ivory Evanescence.” I spoke slowly, weighing every word. What if I upset this . . . thing? I shuddered inwardly; things could get ugly.
He – it, I couldn’t tell gender and wasn’t eager to check – snorted, and sneered, “Hmm, well, I’m Rovenfur Hisst. Very respectable family, the Hissts. My mother was Rovenfa Hisst, you know her, no?” He looked astonished at the shake of my head. “How could you not? I suppose you are terribly misinformed. Horribly.” He shook his head, as if feeling bad for me.
I raised an eyebrow. “Well, Mr. Hisst, it’s very nice to meet you. Now, err, could you tell me where I am?” I didn’t like that my voice came out sounding cocky; I wasn’t a cocky person, but people change. Especially over a span of 69 years. I snorted, and Rovenfur glared at me.
“What?” I asked innocently, eyes huge. “Anyway, are you going to answer my question or not?”
Rovenfur scowled, then began, “You’re in LiivenHisst, the town I live in. It is named after my grandfather, who founded the place in the charred remains of some place called St. Petersburg, Russia. There was a small, black box in the center that no one dared touch; it had a sense of foreboding about it. In result, we have guards out there 24/7, guarding the hellhole, and you come out during my shift!” He spat on the ground, a sour look in his eyes.
I nodded. “Well, sorry. I didn’t know I was being so heavily guarded.” My tone was sarcastic; Hisst didn’t seem to notice, or didn’t care.
“Listen, let’s go,” he told me. “We should head up to the main headquarters, get the government to wrap their head around you.”
“Deal.”
“Okay, come on!” He pointed to the huge building I had seen earlier, and told me it was about three miles away. I groaned when he said we had to walk.
“Only officials have hovercrafts!” he told me. “I’m just a commoner, even though my family is famous here.”
As we walked, Rovenfur was silent, so I allotted myself some serious thinking time. Could I trust this… creature? I mean, I have to, he’s my only friend. I recoiled at the word friend. I hardly knew Rovenfur at all!
“Ivory Evanescence? May we stop at my home for a drink and aplace to rest our heads for the night? That way, we can continue our journey to the capitol building!” he said cheerfully, grinning.
I agreed. “I’m tired,” I admitted sheepishly. I guess being ina coma doesn’t make you all energized when you get back up! Anyway, my stomach was grumbling.
Right on cue, Rovenfur led me up the steps to a small, wooden house. It looked like a three-roomer, and weeds, flowers, and shrubs dotted the unattended garden. Water trickled from a cracked pipe; I heard what sounded like a dog’s barking, but with a cat mixed in there somewhere.
“Here we are!” Rovenfur announced. “The Hisst family household. As you can see, we are quite a bit richer than most people.” He gestured around the block, at his kind sitting, huddled for warmth, under thin blankets inside tens and under shop rafters. I shuddered, and followed Rovenfur into the Hisst home.
The first thing I noticed was the smell. The house smelled of freshly baked buns and cookies, some salmon was grilling, too, and I heard a kettle go off somewhere. I inhaled deeply, and smiled, just as something huge barreled into me at top speed. I let out a squeak as I was bowled over by a… cat? Or was it a dog? It let out that odd barking I had heard earlier, and I broke into a huge smile.
“This is Rofinitov, our Protector. Every family is required to own a Protector, though most can’t afford it. We can, so we got Rofin,” someone explained. Mrs. Hisst wiped her black hands on her pants and looked up at me. I couldn’t get over how human-like these creatures were. They had human bodies, but completely black. Their eyes were absolutely white, except for a black pupil. They were kind of their own class of eerie: ghosts of humankind. It was like a slap in the face to me, though.
I smiled pleasantly. “Hello, you must be Mrs. Hisst. I’m Ivory.” I got the feeling these were the kind of people who judged you on your last name.
I was right. She shot me a look, accompanied with a hasty smile, and said, “Of course. Well, Ivory, cookies and buns are coming up soon, salmon is finished, and the tea just boiled, so why don’t you and Rovenfur go get washed up?”
Rovenfur nodded, and grabbed my arm, pulling me through a door. A bathroom? Yup, a large basin stood in a corner, it was empty, and another held water. I noticed no bathtub. Shrugging it off, I dipped my hands into the cool water, scrubbing them together. When I felt appropriate, I stood and dried them on my jeans while Rovenfur washed his hands like I had.
“C’mon,” he prompted, leading me back into the main room, where I was seated at a little table to eat. Mrs. Hisst, Rovenfur, and I all crowded around it, but Mrs. Hisst looked troubled.
I looked quizzically at her, but she smiled. “My husband says he won’t be home for a few more minutes, he has a hold up,” she explained quickly. “Should we start eating now, or wait?"
Roven scowled. "He's always late - let's eat. Anyway, Mom, we have a guest." He waved to me with a flourish. "If she's going to be staying with us for any amount of time, she'll need to be fed up. We don't want a starving foreigner on our hands." He winked at me, and I grinned back at him, foolhardily.
Mrs. Hisst nodded, stood up, and walked to the kitchen area. There, she picked up three bowls of soup and set on in front of each of us.
"You two eat up, I'll wait for your father." She smile pleasantly before folding two of her hands on her lap. The other two rested on the smooth, polished wood of the table.
This chapter is incomplete, sorry for the delay. It will be finished as soon as possible.
