@ Pixelator: If they don't get along, they won't get along. Older cats tend to hate younger ones, so unless you're willing to buy the 6-month-old his/her own kitten to raise (I've heard that might work, but baby kittens are a LOT OF WORK homg), you'll have to give one away.

...That depends on how badly they're fighting. Do they scream at each other or just wrestle? Because if it's just wrestling, then let them roughhouse, but if they're cussing each other out in kitty-talk then that's serious. Or if fur starts flying, that's bad too.

My 6 month old keeps attacking the new cat...Anyone know what to do about it? We break up the fights, and separate them, introduce them slowly. But w really need the fighting to stop. Anyone?

Anyway, we are getting slightly off topic...

(We had this same problem, so I may be able to help a bit)

We have a cat named Raven who often attacked Socks with hisses (She bowled her over once, but didnt really dig her claws in). What we did was put Socks in my sister's room for a few days, let her scent get rubbed on everything, and then we took Raven and threw her into the room, took Socks out, let her explore while Raven got used to her scent.

My advice is give the six-month old cat alot of love and attention, but dont neglect the kitten's need for attention, either. Try rubbing blankets or towels with eachother's scents on them on the seperate cats, that might also help. Then, Let them sniff eachother from the crack under a closed door. I believe this causes bonds to be made and gets them used to eachother's scents.

But, I guess it depends on the gender. If they're both male, its more territorial. If they're both female, its the same thing, but may be a bit for dominance, too. If its two different genders, I dunno what to do Try consulting your vet or an expert.
