My thoughts on the latest episode: ("Neil Simon's Lover's Retreat")
Woooww... that was a fascinating episode. Some of it was sorta odd, such as the whole staring contest between Shawn and Gus when they were "reading each other's minds," but it was the kind of odd that made you laugh rather than feel uncomfortable. After some the past episodes this season, I really appreciate that.
I loved the thieves... they were almost impossible to hate. And I burst out laughing near the end when they expressed their distaste for animal cruelty and internet piracy. They were overdone just to the right point. A bit unrealistic, but not too far out there.
And I'd love to see the murderer come back in the future. There isn't much behind him to bring him back, but the actor did an amazing acting job. Especially in the scene at the winery. He seemed so real, I was just amazed. ^^
Annd my thoughts on the DS plot twist... for three-quarters of the episode I was thinking "I really hate this writer. Shawn is a bit childish sometimes, yes, but he would never blow up like that over a theft of a toy. That's just twisting his character too far."
And at the end when they revealed what was in the battery case of it, I went; "OOOOOH! I LOVE this writer! Wonderful ending! No wonder Shawn was acting like that when the Nintendo DS was lost! Awww... that's so cute."
Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good episode. A tad unrealistic at times, but it had a wonderful ending, in my opinion.
That said, I'm really looking forward to the release of "Indiana Shawn and the Temple of the Kinda Crappy, Rusty Old Sword" at the end of February. I'm a huge fan of the Indiana Jones movies, and I can't wait to see the kind of in-jokes Steve Franks has managed to come up with. =)
