Dylan
Dylan looked down at his feet, unable to make eye contact with the man. He flinched slightly when he heard the world delinquent. This wasn't the first time he was called that. "Uhm, sir... We're sorry, we didn't take anything of yours..." He gulped, seeing the man's beady eyes trained on his. He looked briefly at the sweat collecting at his hairline, dripping down in steady streams over his plump, dirty cheeks. He looked at anything. Anything other than his distrustful eyes. "We just needed a ride, that's all. Please, don't press charges. We're orphans--" he suddenly blurted out, silently cursing at himself. Was it really necessary to add that in? Though to be completely honest, it wasn't that far from the truth. None of them had ever met their godly parent-- with the exception of Amaryllis, of course, who was born over 2,000 years ago and preferred not to talk about her past. At the moment, she looked nearly blue in the face with frustration at this man, but she knew better than to speak against Dylan and clamped her mouth shut. Her expression was fierce enough to be one of the Amazons, the Roman counterpart of her group, the Huntresses.

Rose
Trying desperately hard not to look like what Dylan had said was news to her, Rose carefully schooled her face into what she hoped was a chastened look. The conductor ran one large hand over his chin, the stubble making a scratchy noise. "Orphans," he grunted, frowning. "You wouldn't happen to be runnin' away, would you?" he asked gruffly. His expression had softened somewhat, but only just. Rose's heart leapt. Could they actually get out of this? She locked eyes with Dylan, pleading silently that he'd come up with a believable story. She trusted him completely, but she knew that lying under pressure was difficult for even him.
