As Legacy pressed on around him, Avarice, looked at her from the corner of his eye. She seemed like a naïve little wolf. Stepping forward, the sin stopped at sat down looking at the fae as she turned around to look to him. Her words gave the impression she really didn’t care as well as her body language. This made the lupine chuckle. Not many wolf’s that lived in a pack would be so indifferent, unless this was an act. "You act as if this isn’t a big deal, when in reality you are a traitor to your own kind. Now what if your beloved alpha found out about you helping an enemy. What would he say? Would he be upset and attack you or maybe exile you. Who know, but just remember there is always the possibility of him finding out.”

Legacy glared at him, opening her mouth to snap, stopping herself when she realized she was about to say her brother's name. She shook her head, growing irritated the longer she stayed here with this brute. "The alpha," she began, "wouldn't be able to think about exiling or attacking me," the fae finished, not bothering to explain why. "He knows what I do, most of the time."

"If we do not learn to forgive ourselves and accept our sins as apart of who we are
then our very being will be swallowed by the sins we commit." ~ Eden

Eden

__________________________________________________________

Eden glared at Hubris as the large black wolf stood still and watched them leave. Most of her pack had gone while she stayed to glare at the four sins. She could not believe her eyes, so the sins were real and now they had made it to their small but fair forest. Peace would never be the same with them around. Watching as one of the sins left she turned to Hubris "I do not understand what game you may be playing at but you will not harm my pack." She curled her lips into a low snarl as his ember colored eyes just simply held her gaze "And I have told you, I only wish to be released from my eternal bounds." He smiled a pale wicked grin as the dark wolf moved slowly to Invidia and Lust as Edin took this opportunity to get away from them. She did not understand what the giant wolf was talking about but if he was free from his so called bonds then what would stop him from doing as he pleased? A sin free of all chains could not be a good thing for her and her pack and the fae shivered slightly under her copper coat. Her paws thudded softly against the the ground that she tread as Eden ran aimlessly into the evergreen forest.

Sensing something by the way Legacy talked about the situation, a devilish smirk crept upon the sin’s maw. A small snicker came from him and without warning a laugh followed it. Avarice looked at Legacy after his little laughter spell. Never had he seen such a confident wolf before. "I must thank you for the laugh there. Now back to what you said. So is this alpha your mate or something? That is seeing how you said he wouldn’t penalize you for your encounter with me. Well I think I’ll take you from him for now and if you resist I will surely keep coming back to cause a little more trouble.” Avarice had a very cocky personality and he wasn’t one to give up easy. After all the sin of greed never does back away from things.

Just as it seemed the sin was having fun flirting and attempting to push the fae’s buttons, his mood changed. He became serious and non-sarcastic.
"Alright you’re stay is officially over. Leave but do come back. You’re quite interesting to pester. And while you head back I think I’ll tag along without you even knowing to tell your alpha of your betrayal. From there I will truly see what he does.”

OOC - Eh, sorry for the horrible post ... I didn't know much to really say.

@ │││BlackRain│││ - Not much really happened. Just a small fight broke out between two sins, Avarice and Invidia, and Ransom. Three other pack members, Legacy, Verity, and Eden, joined in and then Hubris stopped it. After that everyone left and went there separate ways. Rue and Ketamine are somewhere, the sin harassing Rue after her hunt. And that's pretty much it

Legacy looked at Avarice, resisting the urge to growl or snap at the Sin. She grew irritated by the brute more and more as she stayed, listening to him. Never had anyone made her so frustrated, so angry, so irritated so...angry. She just shook her head, turning around, padding out of his den, stopping when he spoke, though she said nothing. Her ears twitched, but she said nothing, as she headed for the lake, where she would wash the dried blood out of her white pelt.

As soon as she was done with that, Legacy considered hunting. Deciding against it, she began running back to camp, after shaking off all the excess water off. The fae slowed down as she neared camp, having decided what to tell Ransom why she had brought nothing back to eat. She would tell him she'd been unsuccessful in capturing some prey.

Fairwell Chickensmoothie! It was a good run.

If there is anyone who I unfortunately left any loose ends open with when I originally disappeared from the site near the end of 2012, you're welcome to drop a PM if you'd like to try to resolve them. It has admittedly been far too many years for me to remember precisely what all may have been left unsettled.

In addition, if anyone sees this and would like to try to reestablish contact, you're more than welcome to drop me a message as well. I'll try to poke my head in over the next few months at the least in case any of the above happens, but cannot guarantee how often messages will be checked after that.

Best Regards,
HOWLING

At first, one might think that hope is a fragile thing. Something to be coddled and kept hidden from the world lest it is hurt or damaged. That through the slightest blow it might shatter and slip away, like so many broken dreams.
But they are wrong.
So very wrong.
Hope is the thing that bends and does not break. It is resolve and determination, the hidden strength that only shows itself when everything else has failed. Hope is a tiny light in an otherwise dark world, and the cooling shade in a light so white it burns. When life comes crawling, battered and broken to the brink of death, it is hope that lingers last on the edge; the one to pull back from oblivion, and say beyond reason, that there is still time to live.

N a m e y o u g o b y
Nadezhda aka Nada

G e n d e r
Female

A g e
16 Seasons (4 Years)

D e s c r i p t i o n
Eurasian Wolf • 92lb • 31" Tall at the Shoulders • 54" Long Nose to Tail
Nada sports the plush coat of ruddy browns, creams and grays with black accents that is so common among wolves. In truth, she has no remarkable markings at all, as though she could be any wolf, this commonality perhaps being her most distinguishing trait. Lighter underneath and darker above, she has a grey mask and saddle, with rusty edges that blend gently into a soft cream as it moves down her legs to a near white for her paws. Eyes rimed with dark grey below and white on top, there is a decent amount of red that runs the length of her snout, though it too lightens and ends in white at her solid black nose. She has wise grey eyes, flecked with tan and gold, set deep with a long narrow muzzle. Though there is an appearance of bulk about her neck and shoulders, much of that is just her thick fur of her ruff, she is actually a lean wolf with long legs and large paws. Well suited to hunting and traveling, she agile and light on her feet, able to run for miles at an easy pace. It could easily be said that grace and endurance are her strongest physical attributes, with speed and stealth not far behind.

It can be said that through the scent of a wolf, you can tell their past, and Nada is no different. Her scent is loamy and sweet, like that of the soft grasses of her birth. There is also a lingering hint of snow and stone, from her long passage over windy peaks.

P e r s o n a l i t y
Though she would never consider herself a leader, Nada possesses an inner strength that is rare for someone so young. She is quite capable and self assured in her abilities, simply meaning that she can take care of herself. Thus Nada will seldom ask others for help, and is much more likely to be the one to offer. Some might see this as pride or vanity, but in truth she simply wishes not to be a burden upon others. She will never willingly leave a pack member behind for any reason, and her drive to 'save' them might seem a little less than sane to other less altruistic wolves.

Generally peaceful, Nada will explore all other options before resorting to violence, often trying to prevent it between others as well. However, this doesn't mean that she is cowardly. Only that she is respectful of those stronger than her, and kind to those who are not. If pushed to her breaking point, she will willingly fight to protect herself or her ideas, even so far as to lay down her own life for what she believes in.

Deeply in tune with the earth and wind, Nada enjoys spending time alone, simply listening to the whispering of the world around her. Not necessarily hunting, she may stalk silently through the woods simply for the pure joy of it. However much she may take pleasure in it, being alone with her thoughts invariably leads her back to the loss of her pack, leaving her with an empty heart and longing for companionship. At times such as these, she can be cold and distant, difficult to reach when she so desperately needs it. It is then though, that her true strength shines the brightest. No matter how sad or painful her heart may be, Nada always finds a way to pick herself up and carry on.

S e c r e t l o v e ?
Perhaps there will be, as Nada tends to see at least some good in all wolves. But for now, there is not as she is just meeting the pack.

L o v e o f m y l i f e
None yet.

A n y t h i n g e l s e ?
((Nada will enter as a loner, and my first post will put her in the pack's territory as such. Hopefully, she can then be accepted into the pack and her rank can be decided then.))

Nada was born fifth in a litter of six to the alphas of the Pack of Thousand Lakes, so named for the wide shallow valley in which they lived. Filled with small ponds and fenlands, the largest trees that grew were the wispy willows that would dip their long trailing leaves into the gently flowing streams in summer, and form briars of empty standing twigs in the winter. Everywhere in between was a marvelous covering of sedge and grasses, spreading out in an emerald carpet betwixt the deep blue lakes. In the distance, grey mountains rose, winking white with snow against cloudless skies even in the hottest of months. It was beneath a willow stand that she grew as a young whelp, and it seemed from the very moment her legs could carry her, she was moving. With no trees to hide their moments, Thousand Lakes hunted through endurance. Chasing their normal quarry of red deer for miles around and through the waters until it was too tired to go on. This would take them far from any den, and yet, for each of them the valley itself was home. With no other packs for competition, they lived in a blissful sort of isolation, filled with the heady freedom of the wild.

Though life was filled with long hard days of running, if helped Nada to grow up lean and strong with her pack as it lived in constant motion. For her first two summers, hunting was good and the winters mild. Then, as all things are want to do, life began to change near the end of her second autumn. The pack came upon a strange wolf of the purest white named Aaroein. Though she was pleasant enough, she showed little ability nor want to keep up with the pack. Strangely enough, her father showed a keen interest in the newcomer, and would regularly call her to kills with the rest of the pack even though she didn't lift a paw to help. Perhaps for an old wolf such as himself, there was something alluring about her life of ease, and though he sill loved his mate dearly, he spent much time with her. This left his mate to lead the pack and the hunt, whilst he laid happily in the late season's sun. Just as the last of the leaves left the willows, so did Aaroein, disappearing one night without a trace. Nada's father felt the wight of her leaving most heavily, a lingering sadness that his presence spread through the pack.

The weather turned cold and the normally soft ground froze beneath their paws, locking the little ponds with ice as snows weighed heavily on the willows. At first, the weather was of little concern as it seemed to slow the normally fleet-footed deer, the deep snow fouling their footing and hiding their food, leaving them weak and easy to catch. It was in this time of plenty that Nada first began to see the change in her pack mates, a growing indifference that seemed to push them apart. Her father was the first to go, leaving the others including her mother without warning. It was almost as if he had simply forgotten what it meant to live, laying down in the gently falling snow and refusing to move as it covered him over. Her mother was next, the loss of her mate an impossible burden to bear and she lay herself beside him. Thousand Lakes leaderless and directionless, with Nada and her siblings desperately trying to pick up the pieces.

Though they tried at first, the rest went the same, some would not wake with the dawn, others slowly fell behind during hunts, never to be seen again. So tired, oh so very tired they all seemed. Until it was only Nada and her big brother Dmitri left to fight their way through the snow. Nada always pushed him, telling him that they must go on. After all, the others might still be out there, lost and alone, waiting to be found. But even Dmitri, though he loved his sister dearly, found the emptiness more than he could bear. One night as the snow fell and winds raged, Nada desperately sought shelter with her reluctant brother in toe.

"Come on, Dmitri! Get up! Just a little bit further now, I promise." Nada urged, tugging at Dmitri's ear in an effort to get him up.

Dmitri yawned expansively, and slowly got to his feet. "But why? The snow is so soft and comfy... Can't we just stay here?" He whined, barely taking a two steps before stopping again, leaving his sister to walk ahead.

"No! It's too cold! We have to..." Her words failed her as she realized her brother had not followed, having sunk to the ground somewhere behind her. The violently swirling snow has already erased all evidence of their passing, and his form is invisible against the wall of white that meets her eyes.

Nada charged back through the snow, running back and forth for hours in fruitless search of her brother. Her circles grow ragged and the wind tears the breath from her nose and eventually she tires to the point of exhaustion and tunnels beneath a willow strand that has bent over into a sort of cave. There she passed out, only to wake hours later to a deathly silence.

The snow had piled so deeply, that Nada had to dig her way back out, and found the world she knew so well completely transformed. An alien landscape of gently rolling white hills the only thing to be seen for miles upon miles. Even the mountains were white against a fierce blue sky.

The storm had obliterated all track and scent from their passing, and every possible landmark was hidden beneath the frozen desert. Though Nada raised her voice, howling for days until her voice was ragged, her ears met with no answer beyond the echos of her own voice reverberating off the distant mountains.

Where others would have faltered, fallen with defeat into the welcoming cold embrace of winter, Nada fought back. Through tears and anger she found the strength within herself to keep moving, to do what she had known all her life. To run. Leaving the memories of the valley behind, she headed towards the mountains, the only thing left that was recognizable to her lonely eyes in an otherwise barren world. Driven by a need to move, to believe that there was something more out there, Nada crossed the mountains in an impossibly long two year trek, bringing her at last to the lands of this pack. The tall trees as alien to her as a shrew to the sea. Yet here, in a world so different it is hardly recognizable, a familiar scent of wolves reaches her eager nose, a wild and desperate wish rising up in her throat, she moves forward with no small amount of eagerness to meet them. Holding on to her one constant companion: Hope.

((Sure thing Pie220! She's pretty lonely, so I imagine her arrival won't go unnoticed for long. Making a leap in intuition that since the first posts were at night, that it would be reasonable to have it be morning now? Hope that's ok... No pun intended. >.<))

“To love is to risk not
being loved in return.
To hope is to risk pain.
To try is to risk failure,
but risk must be taken
because the greatest
hazard in life is
to risk nothing.”

Leo Buscaglia
Nadezhda paced slowly down a steep hill, weary from her long travels and limping slightly on sore paws. Her passage over the mountains had been brutal, filled with endless days of harsh exposure at altitude, leaping up bolder-fields and and dangerous descents down loose scree that cut the pads of her feet. Perhaps what bothered her even more than the pain was just how different this place was from the little valley she grew up in. As the land got flatter, and the rocks subsided into soft loamy soil, so too the plants got bigger, and the towering evergreens which she now finds herself in make for unnerving companions. Having such big things hanging over my head all the time is going to take some getting used to... She thought, once again lifting her eyes to look up at the canopy above her. The late morning light slants through them, painting a warm glow on the carpet of needles underfoot. High above, small birds fought for food and squirrels barked alarms at her presence, quickly scampering higher up into the trees, peering at her with cunning little eyes from the opposite side of the trunk. Neither one do much to draw her attention though, as she has little energy to waste on the fools errand of trying to catch the fleet rodents, and Nada instead concentrates on picking her way down the slope.

As Nada finishes her final decent, the trees become thicker and the pines become scarce, with oak and elm taking their place as dense ferns and other undergrowth crowds between them. Though all this vegetation makes her feel a bit claustrophobic, at least the litter is soft on her paws and the more even ground makes the going easier. The relief of her worries on footing brings back up to mind her empty stomach, and Nada begins to search for something to eat. Her last meal had been a fat marmot, much further up in the mountains and nothing since. Thus, nose to the ground she slips through the leaves, carefully skirting alien looking fiddleheads and ducking beneath brambles.

Within a few moments, Nada has picked up the scent of some animal that smells very much like the red deer of the valley, and has begun to follow it. I hope whatever it is is smaller, or weak, or young or something... I've no idea how I could ever run them down in all this brush anyways, but maybe if were something easy for a change... Concentrating on the trail she follows, and half lost in thought, she barely takes notice as the wind changes until it brings something to her eager nose that makes her stop dead in her tracks. Wolves. Still unsure, she tilts her head back stretching up as high as she can on her front legs to lift her nose up into the air. There is no mistake, for the first time since she left the snow-laden lakes of her birth she has picked up the scent of other wolves, and the implications set her heart racing. After all this time... Could it be? I was starting to think there weren't any others...

The thought is of course ridiculous, and she quickly pushes it out of her mind and replaces it with a nervous sort of anticipation. Turning pointedly into the wind, with the gentle breeze blowing her full in the face, she takes off at a gentle lope. Will they accept me, or are they just going to chase me out? Some wolves are like that, mom used to say... I wonder how many there are? I mean, I know there's more than one, but is it a pack or just some loners? Would a loner just chase me out? Or worse? These and a million more questions fight for attention in her mind as she moves, careful to always be walking into the wind.

Not more than a quarter hour later she runs into the invisible wall of the pack's border, and Nada dips her nose to the ground, taking in every smell and passing in an effort to learn something more about the pack who controls the territory. In the end though, she only gains the faintest idea of how many patrollers there were, and not much else. Even to her sensitive nose they are all still strangers. It smell... It smells like... Wolves. Filled with intimidation and she sits back on her haunches, for the moment immobilized with uncertainty. In the end, there are only two choices: Seek out these new wolves, or turn back. And Nada has come way too far to turn back. So she gathers her courage and with a bit of trepidation, she lifts her head and calls out to them. Sending an echoing, need howl up into the wind, voice raising up to a peak and then slowly tapering off until she is simply sitting expectantly, waiting for a reply.
