"Let's hope indeed," Livius commented, watching the stand-off between the three stallions. "The last stallion fight I saw ended with one broken foreleg and a chunk missing from the other combatant's haunches. Not to mention the number of bruises. It was ugly." It reassured him to see Dolce using him as a safety barrier between her and the scene unfolding before them. Hearing her pull up some clover, he decided that it would be in his best interest to remain a pool of calm for her as well as to keep an eye on things. He would graze as well. Dextrously pulling up a mouthful of clover leaves and blossoms, he couldn't help but smile. "You know...if there's clover all over down here, I might get lazy and fat!" he said through his mouthful of greens. Movement out of the corner of his eye made the grullo stallion glance over his shoulder towards the younger Equid, Heartz. Swallowing his mouthful in surprise, he scoffed. "Dolce! Another Equid!" Indeed, another mare stood there, at the edge of the woods.

canad heard livius shout in shock of seeing another equid. he looked at the mare. she was... gorgeous. he stared for a while, then whispered to himself "snap outta it, canad!" he had never felt this way before.

Halo

Halo eyed the rogue stallion intensely, his hooves digging into the stone as it turned back toward the mountains. Not for long... those words echoed hollowly in his head, mocking him. "We'll see..." he mumbled to himself, his eyes narrowed to slits. That's when he heard a shout. "Wait, huh?" he blurted in surprise, abruptly stumbling up next to Canad so he could see better. The lead stallion had already turned that way, a look of pure delight on his face. His eyes widened briefly before he could stop them, and he gave an awe stricken smile. Another mare, light dun with beautiful blue eyes, was standing just at the edge of the forest. "Oh..." he said to himself with great pleasure, his own question answered before it could even form. Hearts was by herself, only yards away from the loner, a frightened look on her face. He tore his gaze away from the mare and shifted toward Canad. "Should I intervene?" he asked faintly, the breath seemingly knocked out of him.

"That does sound bad." I said, and carefully bit off another bunch of clovers. Once I had swallowed I laughed, "Well, we don't want that." I said and gently poked him in the barrel, "We'll have to get you to play with Heartz." I flicked an ear at a sound and turned quickly again, almost hitting Livius again, to see a pretty dun mare standing right at the start of the forest. "Sorry!" I said quickly. "Canad is right, this must be a record." I added.

"uh.. leave that to heartz. she can handle it..." he said, his eyes trailing off to her tail.

Livius gasped and laughed as he felt her soft nose prod him in the ribs. He tried not to show it, but failed: he was ticklish.
"She probably could outrun me with all of her youthful energy," he conceded, looking over at Heartz. She looked more than a little concerned and it was beginning to make his heart twinge. "She reminds me of my little sister...what I can remember of her," he added softly, his ears drooping a little. "Maybe we should go help her? She looks scared." He glanced back at Dolce, violet eyes beginning to fill with faint distress. Seeing younger Equids, especially the foals, in trouble always made him feel acutely uncomfortable and that something had to be done. His mother had gently teased him that he would make an excellent father, if he ever found a mate.

I flicked my tail,oh, ticklishI thought with a smile, that's good to know. "I didn't know you had a sister." Then looked over to Heartz, "Well, we could..." I said and felt a little flustered, I didn't enjoy conflict but I felt like I had to go with him. "Um, sure." I said with a half-hearted smile. But when I looked into his eyes he looked very worried, I laid my ears back in distress. "It's ok..." I said hesitantly, i'm not good at this, I thought, I almost wish that I had socialized with others more when I was a foal.

Heartz noticed everyone staring at her and the new equid. She became shy but stood normally, tail in a neutral position and head higher. "Hi, who are you?" She asked the mare embarrassed that she had been scared and that everyone saw it.

Famous surveyed the herd members that were all staring at her now. When the yearling spoke she looked over at her. "Hi, I'm Famous." She smiled.

"Oh, never mind. She has things under control," Livius said, amending his plans as Heartz took to talking to the loner mare. He thought he heard the name 'Famous' issue from the mare's lips and filed it away in his head. Not wanting to ignore Dolce's attempt to console him, which he did take to heart, he looked back at her and gave her a gentle smile. "Thank you for trying to help with me. It was very kind of you." He was noticing more and more how shy she was and made up his mind to help her through it. Betting to himself that she would come out of her shell with time, he turned the topic back to his sister, a neutral topic that would take the focus off Dolce. "Yes, I had a little sister for a time before my father exiled me from the herd. It wasn't for a bad reason, no, it's just what all fathers do when their sons get too...uppity, I guess," he said with a shrug that tossed his mane. "She was cute though and yes, I did use the word 'cute'. She was a little black foal with some brindling and one white coronet." Livius sighed, a silly smile on his face. "She used to play hide-and-seek with me and pretended she could hide behind dandelions. Shortly after that, my father tossed me out though, so I guess she's still with his herd." Try as he might, he couldn't hide how his ears drooped a little. He did miss her.

Halo

Halo relaxed when Heartz did, giving a soft smile. He watched her intently, soaking in her dun coat as he trailed from her eyes, to her neck, and on down to her legs. A very nimble mare, who oddly reminded him of somebody. Somebody he knew. That's when his eyes danced back to Heartz, and something demanded to be acknowledged. It pestered him as he tryed to let it fall into place, but it wouldn't come. He shook his head, noticing with a impish grin that Canad's eyes had remained on the new mare. "Hey, buddy, you may want to remove that drool from your chin..." he said teasingly, prancing around him to go graze with the same irritating grin on his face. Once he was alone, he let his gaze wander back up to Dolce... and Livius. When he thought of his name, his mind automatically put a contemptible twist to the word. He sighed, finding a nice bed of clover to munch on. And with that, he knew that Livius could never be a friend, but a tolerable herd mate.
