canad's ears shot up in shock when he heard a stallion neighing, almost threateningly. "i wear, this must be a record here!" he said, with a growl in his voice. he arrogantly walked over to halo and the stallion he was confronting. "ahem. this is MY herd, sir." he said, a sharp tone in his voice. he flared his nostrils, smelling the air deeply.

The grullo stallion felt his cheeks heat up as Dolce rose to her feet beside him.
"You're welcome, Dolce," he replied in a somewhat-shy voice. "You know...if you want to talk about it, it sometimes makes you feel better. Well, I feel better, at least. I always felt like it was no longer real in any way, since when I explained it, it was less nonsensical. Does that make sense?" He added, laughing at himself. He wasn't unaware of how Halo had veered away at the last second when he had beat the second-in-command to the aid of the startled striped mare. It had frightened him a bit how much his heart had seemed to swell with pride and some facet of ambition. It was heady, this feeling of acknowledged mutual attraction.

Halo

Halo hastily dropped his head when Canad marched over, the tip of his tail brushing the ground with wide swishes. "*cough* I was keeping him distracted, sir." he said in a rush of words, suddenly feeling like a very tiny little individual. It was amazing really, what kind of effect Canad's tone had on him, since the equid was generally such a laid-back guy. He sure hoped he wasn't in trouble. The stallion was on the other side of the river, afterall. It would take him days to go around, unless he wanted to risk the strong currents. His gaze shifted back and forth between Canad and the opposer, his ears pricked slightly with anticipation.

I chuckled,"It does make sense, thanks but, I don't want to talk about it," I said quickly, I couldn't let him know that i'd been dreaming about him! Then what would I say to him? I shook my head, that would just make things worse. I turned my head a little to see Halo stomp off to the river, swatting his tail angrily. I wonder whats got him agitated? I thought and looked back to Livius. I was about to ask him if he wanted to graze when a treatening nicker sounded from behind me. I whipped around, my tail nearly hitting Livius, my cheeks flared red. "Sorry." I said and looked back to the sound and saw Halo confronting a lone stallion across the river. He pranced and arched his neck, then Canad came over. "Whats going on?" I thought aloud.

"Fair enough," the grullo stallion replied. Ducking his head to one side to avoid being swatted with a white-and-black tail, Livius had to smile. She was quite the jumpy Equid! Maybe he could help her not be so apt to leap at the smallest sound. Flicking his ears forwards, he turned and moved up beside her once more to observe. The threatening nicker did indeed carry some anger behind it and it appeared to be coming from across the river. It was a rather muscly black stallion who was sizing up his competition, which included both Halo and now Canad, who were looking more and more annoyed as the moments passed. "Ooh...I do believe we'll have a confrontation here," he murmured in reply to Dolce's question. Slowly, both his ears dropped back and his violet eyes narrowed. They had better run this one off, he thought darkly, because he won't like what I have in store for him after Halo and Canad are done. Just the merest wisp of the idea of someone else truly challenging him for Dolce was enough to make his blood begin to boil.

"Yeah," I said, backing up to stand a little behind Livius, "Lets hope it doesn't end badly." I said. I hope Canad deals with him, I thought and laid my ears back, he looks hostile to me. I thought and swished a pesky misquito away while watching the confrontation go on, reaching down to nibbled a clover.

"oh. it is fine, my fine friend." he said, while looking over the stallion's strong build. he had some muscles, almost as big as canad himself.

Halo

Halo gave a relieved sigh, lifting his head and tail back up to a normal level. Knowing that Canad's anger had been solely directed at their enemy made him feel immensely better. He was new at this kind of position, so an extreme case of paranoia kept him constantly on edge. He quickly glanced back at the prancing equid, his mane instinctually bristling at the site. The hostility of the new comer was even putting him in a foul mood. With a heated snort, he returned a calculating glare across the river. Substatially older than either of them and not friendly by any means, it was really in their best interest that he was cut off by a waterway. After watching the threatening stallion for a moment, he cut his eyes to Canad. "Do you think he'll take this any further?" he asked gravely, his eyes both worried and tense.

"i sure hope not." he said, hoping he did not need to challenge this stallion.

Shadow stopped his prancing when Canad showed up. He could tell that this darker stallion was in charge by the way he stood. Ignoring the lower rank stallion "Not for long." He warned Canad as he turned and headed back to the mountains. He knew there was no way of crossing the river from here but down stream near the lake it became shallow. He might have to make that trek some time soon.

Heartz looked behind her Canad and Halo were at the river and Dolce and Livius weren't that much closer. She took a few steps away from the woods head and tail booth lowered slightly. She was scared and even though she knew it was another equid it didn't make it much better. Heartz was a few yards away from the woods when she heard movement again.

Famous took a few steps closer when the filly backed away. She continued until she was at the very edge of the woods and clearly visable.
