I sighed uneasily and lowered my head to graze but fear made it almost impossible to eat. I looked back to the stallions, it looked like they were talking but I wasn't sure. I tested the air again, from a lower point i couldn't get a good sniff of it again, a tremble shook my body. My tail was obviously shaking, I didn't want to show how terrified I really was, so I swished it once then wrapped it around my legs.

Shadow turned on the narrow pathway "Come on." He said started down the steep incline ignoring the path they came up on and going straight down the mountain. He had to run so he wouldn't fall. This was his strong suit but he had no time to show off so he just focused on the ground a head of him.

Famous could since something was wrong but didnt know what. She circled her foal out of habit and snorted. "This isn't good Dolce."

Heartz stayed close to her mother and wrapped her tail around herself. She was scared and didn't know what to do.

"I know," I answered and stared over at the river. Unease prickled through my fur and I unwrapped my tail and turned in a circle and swished my tail repeatedly before stopping to wrap my tail around my legs again and wait for the protection of the stallions.My heart pounded in my chest and I was tempted to run up to the stallions myself but I knew that I shouldn't. I wish they would hurry, I thought, I just want to know what they think it is, or what they know it is.

canad rushed bye the rock behind shadow n=and halo, slightly scared for one od=f the first times in his life. not for himself, but for his herd.

Halo

Halo kept quiet, watching as Shadow and Canad practically glided down the mountain side. He couldn't jump, it was a disgrace to his species really. Especially being a Native of the Alpine Landscape. He tensed for a moment, his eyes pinned on the rocky decent, and then he looked over his shoulder. Foot steps, and the stealthy muttering of the Equid Catchers. Now slightly alarmed, his eyes flashed back and forth between the cliff and the stallions. He'd never make it to them in one piece unless he took the original path. He glanced toward the mares, Dolce's bright coat drawing his line of vision from clear over here. They'd see her, steal her away to who knows where... and she'd never return. He shuddered, starting to take off. He had to help Canad save the mares. In that very moment, a rope launched at his head and went taught. He gagged, collapsing to the ground in a fit of kicking and protest. He rolled his eyes toward the others. "GO! NOW!" he managed to choke out, hands reaching from all over in an attempt to restrain his flailing body.

"Halo?" I said quietly, what had I just heard? Was that Halo? Humans?! I knew I had smelled that scent before, I looked around for Halo's chestnut coat. I gasped as I saw him struggling on the ground with a rope around his neck, a big human standing over him. Fear and confustion clouded my thoughts, Run! my brain screemed, but my legs wanted to help Halo. I stood there then common sense knocked into me "Famous, get out of here!" I whinnied and leapt away myself but my legs were tied with my tail and I fell flat on my chest, my breath knocked out of me.

Famous pusher Dolce woth her head " Come on!" she and Heartz started running with Shadow not far behind.

I stumbled to my feet glancing back to see three more humans running toward us. I galloped after Famous, Heartz and Shadow; I was catching up when I slid to a stop, we had to help Halo! I looked around, "What about Halo?!" I called as they fled. I glanced over to Halo, Someone has to help him. I thought and galloped over to the incline were he was caught and clambered up the slope, "I'm coming Halo!" I called.

Halo

Halo's head jerked up as he stomped one of the men's feet. He didn't know which one, and didn't care. The reaction was a shriek and sharp rap to his thigh, causing him to flail harder. He threw his head back toward the group, gasping for breath, and started counting equids the best he could. Shadow, Famous, Heartz.....Dolce? Why wasn't sh....oh no. She was stampeding toward him with all her might. He kicked hard toward on of the humans, hearing a crack and howl as hoof struck bone. She couldn't come back for him! If she was captured... the equid was now clambering up the slope. He whinnied loudly, jerking at the lead some more as he tryed to stand. "Dolce! Get out of he..." he started to shout, but his breath was cut off by the tightening rope. He crumpled to the ground again, his mouth falling open from pain.

canad raced upto halo, leaping over halo to the humans. he whinnied in their faces, and started to run towards them, intimidating them with his larger size. "run, my herd! i will take them on!" he said, faithful as their leader.
