Lyla watched Track and the mare in secret. She sniffled and sighed. Not loud enough for them to hear. She started walking away, her head low to the ground, and tears rolling down her cheek. She looked back one last time and continued forth.

Popham nodded, lowering her head to nibble grass, hungry. She lifted her head after a minute, a wisp of grass hanging from her mouth.
