My boys love hammocks. So does Marlena but she's a bit crazy and likes to play more than sleep.

My first pair of rats really loved their hammocks and would sleep together. My new rat Vic ... not so much. He mainly stays on the first level, destroying various paper type things I put in there for his nest and stashing the little balls in the tunnel. Silly rat. We're getting two more sometime in the next two weeks.

He needs friends. XD With that, I'll be going on a spree with the eighty some dollars I have saved up. New hammock, new toys and lots of treats.

BigBang, glad that the vets are doing something. Why did they want to keep her in rather than let her go home? She would probably be better at home getting medicine and having the comfort of you/her rattie friends.

My loves love hammocks, they love it so much they chewed holes through it, stored food, and will bite you if you touch it ( their actually very nice, but my girlies love it so much )
My rats also like houses, so any wooden/plastic houses may do.
My rats don't really play with toys, they mostly sleep, eat, have small fits, and explore the world outside their cage.

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm at school most of the time, and I don't know what I'm doing as far as medical things go, so it's probably best she's hanging back at the vets. Plus, from what I hear, she's getting plenty of attention there.


I made them a playhouse type thing, and they seem to like it. I was about to make them some tunnels and bean bags, but I can't get the sewing machine to work.

Lol just read that lots of peeps did reports on rats, well gues what, i did one on rat diseases for animal health class lol XD

For enrichment you can buy thing but making things is good to. Like cardboard boxes, you can hang them up in the cage, they love that, i use pringle tubes for toys, ropes good too, i also hung up an large sock in my cage, my rats likd going through that. Also i strung some toilet roll tubes together for a bridge, mine like that too :) with males they like to sleep but play so hanging cardboard boxes or hamocks are good. :)

I was actually able to convince my mom to get my two rats after June, after our trip to the US. ^^
You really need to show her you're responsible enough to take care of a pet by maybe doing things around the house showing you really can be responsible and using some of your own money for the pet.
My mom first though rats were these nasty little creatures so I showed her some cute photos her my friend's rats. So I guess that is pretty helpful if you're mother doesn't seem to be very fond of rats. And you can also show her some of the plus sides of getting one maybe? I, myself, wrote a little letter to my mom showing all the things I will need, going into details and stuff and I guess that kinda proves that you really want it. Hope I kinda helped. ^^

I managed to convince my parebts and my mum was like no pets and my stepdad hates them. i just kept irritating them and planning like i was getting them, they soon said yes. Thats when i got my two females about 5 years ago.

Then i managed to convince my mum to get memy two males about 1 year after my last babies died :( and i'm highly allergiced lol :)
