After their meal, the dishes and glasses and trays were all taken away by servants. The princess leaned back against her chair a little more, while she caught her brother giving her a brief glance, which still showed humor from his little stunt. She just looked away again, ears dropping in silent irritation with him, up toward the head of the table where her parents still sat.
Her father had a thoughtful expression, his long, slender ears pricked. He had dark brown hair, sharp eyebrows, and a sharp nose, while he overall build was slender yet still muscular, his gold crown resting on his head between his ears. Yukon Lamia was a Jackal Kirin, while his wife, Armanda, was a Puma Kirin. She had pale reddish brown hair, wavy and pulled back, and was smaller than the King of Serula, but had similar sharp features compared to his own, and a small but still golden tiara between her black tipped, rounded ears.
"Daughter, Son, I think it's time we discussed something that had been happening over the past few weeks..." the Queen said, putting down her napkin and looking to the two siblings. Her eyes were light brown, and narrowed slightly as she spoke, but only a little, and her voice had a whispery rumble to it, much like Bambi's only hers had not rumble.
She then looked to her husband as he began to speak, his own voice deeper but without such a rumble, yet clear and easily heard without having to even raise his voice. "You are both aware of our being on the verge of war, and what each of you were to do if, however unlikely, this castle was stormed and seemed as though it were going to be taken..." Both nodded. "Well, over the past few weeks, you may or may not have noticed our castle slowly acquiring more armory and other things to raise it's defense. This is because recently we have begun to notice a few riders on occasion near our borders, getting closer than we'd like, and sometimes even in view of the castle.
Now they may only be drunk or curious youngsters wanting to get a look at their bordering kingdom's castle, but they may also be scouts or spies, checking on how aware or prepared we are for a possible attack. I thought you may like to know," he concluded, seeming to be fairly finished. That was one thing about her father, he spoke to the point and did not usually make long speeches, if they were, it was because he had a lot to talk about in one sitting, he did not dwell on just one matter.
"...I have an idea, why don't we just make one simple motion to end the threat of warfare?" Bane asked after a few moments, and the King arched an eyebrow. "What might you be suggesting by that...?" he asked.
"Why don't we just give her Bambi as a gift? I'm the eldest and here to rule, she won't, and it would probably end this own affair. Who knows, maybe one of their children might grow to like her enough, however unlikely, to marry her." The Queen's eyes narrowed, and the Kings closed to prevent losing his temper.
Bambi, however, was not amused, especially since Bane did not seem to be joking entirely. "What. So I'm... expendable to you?!" she said, low and quiet, but easily heard and her ears flattened against her head. "You, you piece of worthless- you cold, heartless- YOU @$$HOLE!!!" Her chair tumbled backward, hitting Reno and making him stumble backward, barely managing not to fall over, as she sprang forward, leaping clear over the table. She seemed to give out a shrill, battle cry, and tackled him like a rabid creature, not a gentle rabbit.
He yipped in surprise, and then pain when the enraged hare Kirin chomped down on the nearest thing to her mouth, which happened to be one of his ears, nails digging into him through his shirt.
By this time her parents had stood from their chairs, and Reno, now aware of what was going on, jogged quickly around the long table to get to the two. The rhinoceros Kirin gently grabbed Bambi by the waist and picked her up, prying her off of her brother, though she was still making furious chattering sounds, and clawed at him like a cat even as she was being pulled off. "Bambi... BAMBI. Cease your attacking girl," Yukon barked, and she sulkily stopped struggling to get out of her body guard's grasp.
When her brother, shaking, sat up, his ear was bleeding a little, along with a few of the many scratches she had inflicted on him, and his shirt was torn while his hair ruffled, gold eyes flashing as he bared his teeth at her. Overall, Bane looked like he'd been forced through a ton of briers rather than being attacked by a hare, or hare Kirin in this case. "You little-" he growled, but was cut off by a hiss of warning to be silent from his mother. "Both of you will stop fighting like sworn enemies if I have to make sure neither of you go near each other to do it," the King stated flatly, "We don't need a warn between family members on top of the threat of a real, much more important one that could have much harsher consequences."
"But Father he-"
"I know, and Bane, if you ever make such a comment, even if you were kidding which you didn't sound like it, you will be in a lot worse shape than what your sister has done to you. But Bambi, don't attack your brother like that in the future unless he attacks you first. Now go straighten yourselves up, and get your wounds tended to Bane, this conversation is over."
