((Sorry guys! I went unactive because I just don't have enough time anymore to RP and keep up my dA account. And I typed up a few goodbye posts, but couldn't bring myself to post them. And so I've finally decided that hey, you know what? I like all the RPs I'm in right now, and they're fun, so I think I'm going to try and stick around.
I apologize for the wait! Now for a post, finally...
oh and wildmagic, starry-knight RPs Bullet))

Alex dragged his gaze away from the green-eyed girl's, turned around quickly and walked out the door with his purchases in hand. He did not returned the howdy, but the look he'd given her looked almost sorry- before returning to his usual unreadable blankness.
As soon as Alex stepped out, the scent of smoke curled around him, and he breathed it in like perfume. He watched the blaze fearlessly, hypnotized like a mosquito attracted to an oil lamp, standing still amid the flying embers even as others ran. He felt the warmth hit his face and blow his hat off his head. The fire hit his yellow eyes like copper, so reflective that the flames seem to dance in his eyes.
Fire, oh, how he loved it.
A shrill, panicked scream that morphed into loud braying sliced through his fog. Shawnee, still tied to the hitching post, was freaking out. The mule kicked and struggled, her long ears pinned to her head and the whites of her eyes like half moons. "Shhhh! Shhhh!" Alex clicked his tongue and talked to her softly, calming her enough to saddle up. He scooped up his hat and jumped up.
"Ah, lad, please 'elp! C'mon now!" it was the shop keeper, who thrust a sloshing bucket of water into Alex's hands, "My store's catching fire!"
Alex stared back at the old man blankly before a kind of terrible smile spread across his lips, the kind that looked like he was grinning yet baring his teeth at the same time. He dropped the bucket carelessly,"That's your problem, now ain't it, old man?" He gave Shawnee a nudge, wheeled around and took off.
Some moxy e's got! Giving me that look like he'd like to string me up, then 'specting me to help him! That flannel-headed grampa probably woulda sicked the sheriff on me if there weren't a fire. Karma's a b*tch, huh?
When they had left that wretched town in the dust, Alex slowed Shawnee slightly, then suddenly to a trot. Someone was up ahead. He squinted, but still could tell exactly who or what. Somebody, or somebodies, riding horses. Alex tugged at his bandanna apprehensively. He'd had enough trouble for today.

That situation your in doesn't sound so pleasant. I'm sorry you have to deal with that." he said rubbing the back of his neck while glancing up at her. "I know I'm not too far off from town, but I got a spare room. Your welcome here as long as you'd like."

Viletta shook her head. "I would love to stay here but I'm afraid he'd try an come find me. Thank you for the offer though, you're really one kind fella. " She looked toward the town, "I think I' gonna go explore a bit before I even think 'bout coming back here." Getting up, Viletta started petting Chestnut's nose. "I can't thant you enough for all your help"

Bullet grumbled under his breath, only he being able to hear the irritated noise. Reluctantly he rose to his feet, spurs ribbing as he stepped on over to his horse who had wandered off to graze. Bullet placed his two fingers in his mouth and whistled, the large stallion snorting before looking up. The horse flicked his tail before trotting over, large black hooves crushing the ground beneath his step. The young stallion was already bridled and saddled. Ready to ride. He grabbed the reigns and pulled himself easily into the saddle, tipping his hat over his powerful blue eyes. "Ready." he said in a slick tone, rearing up the stallion who pounded back down after a roar and a snort.

Thomas nodded. "Not a problem miss. Least I could do, you need any help in the future, you know who to call." he tipped his hat to her before beginning to pack up the kit. He gave her one last smile before disappearing inside. He placed the kit back into the cabinet and walked into the kitchen, taking the last apple he had ms biting in, the juices spraying the inside of his mouth, and dripping down his chin.

Viletta smiled and nodded, ''i sure do, thanks for everythin' '' She mounted her horse and took the money out of her shirt to put it in a saddle bag. Then she tapped Chestnut's sides with her heel, causing him to gallop towards the town that was red with fire. She wanted to watch the buildings burn.

With a sharp nod, William O'Hara wheeled his mare about and dug his heels into her sides. She thundered off, giving proof to her name and doing it fair justice. Her hooves pounded the ground as she sped up to a full gallop, sending sandy dirt flying in a cloud behind her. William kept one hand on the reins, reaching up with the other to pull the bandanna that hung around his neck up to cover his mouth and nose. There was nothing worse than a lungful of dust, except maybe getting it in your eyes. He leaned forwards and felt the mare's rhythm in his bones. This is what he lived for, it really was. The heists, robberies, and lawlessness were a bonus, but this was truly it. Thundering across the land on a powerful horse, bound for who knew where, that was the real thrill. Turning his head slightly, he shouted to Bullet, "We're headin' for Placerville; it's an hour's ride northeast. No foolerly while we're there, y'hear? You find a gambling house, round up anyone who's willing to join. Nobody who's already got a bounty on 'em." William might have been a robber, but he was a damn smart criminal and he wasn't about to get anyone in his gang caught just because one of their new recruits was hiding a few murderous secrets. No, he wanted people fresh out of town, people who had lost whatever they had gambling or chasing gold. California was the perfect place for this; anyone here was either with the law, or against it, and those who weren't on either side were perfect pickings for the likes of the famous Black Billy.

Emerald mounted her gittery stallion and glanced one last time at the burning building. She pulled her hat lower over her eyes and then trotted out of the town. "Where to go now, Diablo?" she asked the Arab stallion, who just tossed his head and neighed in return. As she sat back in her saddle, her reigns in one hand and the other resting on her thigh, she surveyed the barren land around here. She had forgotten water, so that was first on her list. Way way off in the distance she could see a small amount of shrubbery, and greens couldn't survive without water. She assumed the water would be close by so she steered Diablo North towards the water. And sure enough, there was a small creek. What a relief! She jumped off Diablo and the two ran over to the creek, Emerald throwing herself to her hand and knees and gulping down the water before splashing it over her face.

Alex watched a woman- the one who had asked about stitching wounds earlier- on a chestnut horse, thunder past him and towards the town. Perhaps she lived there, or was just another brainless do-gooder going to help put the fire out. He thought nothing of her as his mule went on. Then a lopsided smirk spread across the Coyote's face.
Holding onto his hat, he steered Shawnee around and kicked her sides, "Yah, Shawnee, c'mon." he encouraged her to go faster, and whistled softly to her. She had always responded well to noises. But the mule was not simply pounding across the dirt at breakneck speed, unlike the sorrel horse. There seemed to be something different to her galloping, something well honed. Shawnee's legs pumped like pistons, but hit the ground like quite, swift cat paws.
Alex leaned forward and moved with her as they went even faster. He could see the woman and her horse, not far ahead. His mule's strides syncopated with the chestnut's. Alex slid his pistol out of his pocket and closed one eye. His aim wavered momentarily so that it was pointed at her back, then the woman's head. Alex held his breath to steady himself and squeezed the trigger. Right on target- just to the left of her head. That ought to be a surprise, ha.

Viletta heard a bang followed by the whizzing of a bullet going right past her head. Chestnut was used to the noise and picked up his pace instead of freaking out. "why the heck would someone be after us?" Viletta grumbled before turning around to see one of the guys from town. Narrowing her eyes she turned forward and leaned into her horse. "woah boy, slow down" she whispered in his ear before getting the horse to actually stop. "whaddya want?!" she shouted at the man who had fired at her.

((Please warn me if I seem powerplay-y. Made a short post to try and avoid that))

Alex steered Shawnee sharply to the left of the chestnut horse. He made no acknowledgement to the woman's confusion. Instead, he stood up in the stirrups and grabbed his lariat. Gripping the rope in one hand and still brandishing his gun in the other, he swung the rope over his head, as he had done a million times back at his dad's ranch. The lariat circled over Alex's head like a halo (ironically, of course) until he sent it hurling forwards. He held his breath as it sailed through the air, quick as a whip, his aim set so that it would lasso the chestnut horse's head.
