@Skethcy:
My mom has, but only because she does with my older girls.
I've only had here for a little over a week, two on Friday. She's only about 7 weeks old.
She only bites when you get near the cage though, when you handle her she doesn't, only mouths.
I take her out everyday, for a good amount of time, because I'm trying to socialize her more.

She doesn't seem like she's doing well though. She's extremely thin, I mean I can feel all her ribs and her hips, and I know she eats, we feed her all the time. She won't open her eyes too far, and they don't look very bright from what I can see. She won't move too much either. I had to put her in quarantine not too long ago, and I'm hoping I'm only overreacting, I'd be really sad if she was to pass.

It annoys me though that my sister doesn't care, I mean it's her rat, not mine, and as much as I've become attached to her, she's not mine. I just wish she would show a bit more compassion towards the little baby.

I'm really amazed how tame my babies are. I used to own two females which I got at a year old and they were tame but my two new boys are about 14 weeks now and are extreamly tame to the point that when I let them run around they will happily run over and sit on me, also I have trained them to come when I want them to. I love them.

Also, is it normal for one rat to grow much faster than the other. Marlo is bigger than his brother Jacob and Marlo has begining to get his adult look but Jacob still looks like a baby.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

Yes, sometimes rats will grow at different rates.

BigBang, that rat needs to go to the vet. She sounds very sick.

BigBang, she really needs to go to the vet. Rats generally only bite when they're in pain or scared, and I would guess that she is in pain. I don't know why she's so skinny, but my rat Shilo, despite how much we fed him, inevitably died and was really skinny. We took him to the vet and everything, he lived three more months very comfortably, and the last day bit like crazy.

I'm not saying that your rat's going to die, but the biting thing would line up with pain. Especially how skinny she is. Good luck. :)

I took her to the vet yesterday actually, because I knew she wasn't well. Well, I checked in on her today, and they said it was probably a problem with her kidneys. I think I caught it early on though, because I took her when I first noticed something wrong. I hope she pulls through though.

They let me get another girl yesterday, she's a blue black Berkshire with a white belly and socks. I named her Nyx. I felt bad for her, she was all alone and so scared. I think once she gets over the initial of fear of being plopped down somewhere odd, she's going to be great to  work with. She seems like she has a wonderful personality, and certainly has plenty of energy.

I have a rat caspian who (apparently) has to much testosterome so he is really untame and bites, he also fights with other rats so i have to keep him by himself, and he looks all miserable by himself, I would get him spaded but it costs to much. What should I do?

95% of teens would cry if they saw the Justin Beiber at the top of a skyscraper about to jump. Copy and paste this if you are one of the 5 percent who would sit there with popcorn and a camera and yell "DO A FLIP!"

If he cannot live with other rats and is unhappy when he is alone, the only solution is to spay him or put him down. (Unless you can have him with you 24/7, but I do not think that is a possibility.)

BigBang, did your vet just send you away with no medicine? Did they do any tests?
I'd advise joining a rat forum and getting some advice, because she sounds very sick and it doesn't sound like anything has been doe to help her. She should be on medicine, getting extra food at home that is easier for her to eat, lots of extra protien to help build her up. If you just sit back and watch her lose more weight, she's just suffering, that's simply cruel. She is clearly sick.

Ratbaggirl, how badly does he fight with other rats? What other rats has he been kept with and what age is he?
Neutering doesn't actually cost that much.
Not trading.

Oh no, they're holding on to her, feeding her regularly, and have her on an antibiotic. They're going to wait until she gains more weight until they do any kind of testing though. So far it sounds like she's doing better, they said she's being awful feisty, which is just like her. I'm going to check on her after my mom gets home from work though, just to make sure she's doing better.

Not meaning to spam here but I need your guys help, I want a pet rat sooooo bad but my mother says they are disgusting and will not let me own one. I have started a club to help me find out more of what rat owners think about thier little buddies. Please visit and take a minute or to, to fill out a form about your little friend(s). Thanks everyone ^^
