Paws are a sensitive part of a dog's body. I'd try sesitivity training first as long as the dog isn't too uncomfortable to where it snaps. Just gently touch his feet and treat. Only do this if he doesn't growl or nip when you touch his feet. This is usually done as a puppy, so if it's not done, you geg a dog who doesn't like his feet touched.

My dog doesn't have long legs, but he sometimes sits awkwardly, so I have to re-sit him everytime. It works, and now he's starting to get it more. :)

Thanks very much! My dog is a rescue, so it makes sense that she wasn't desensitized as a puppy. She never snaps, she just kinda sits there and cowers. :P Thanks for the advice!

If she cowers, take it slowly. You don't want to scare her even more. I would try touching her feet without picking them up for a mere second and then treating her. Build that up to giving her a treat while you're still touching her feet, but let her set the pace. If she's afraid, don't try to pet her as this will make her think she's doing good by being afraid. It should be basically, Quick Touch, "Good Girl", Treat. Take it slow, maybe only do it a couple of times at first, then let her go for awhile. Eventually, she'll be better about her feet being handled. Maybe never to the point where you can manipulate them however (ie. pick her paws up and look bend them to see if there's soreness or stiffness.) but she will make progress. :)
