Sail the Seas (Pirate RP Needs Members!)

Emerald shook her head, not saying anything. She folded her arms across her chest and stared at the ground, lost in thought. Soon her head shot up, a small, hopeful smile playing on her lips. "We should all spread out." she suggested. "One go north, the other east, another west. South lies the ocean and Tessa definitely didn't come from there. If we find her, just shout. They couldn't have been that far from the farm."

"Good idea," said Melody, stepping farther into the weeds. "I'll try this way-" her voice froze, then choked up. "Oh, God." Reaching an arm out, she parted the tall grass with a hand to reveal the source of the thick, salty smell that lingered in the air. Sonja was laying on her side in the dirt, facing away from them. There was a crack in her head and a slice in her arm; blood was everywhere. With a small sob that caught in her throat, the quartermaster turned away from the navigator's body and grabbed at Emerald, pulling the woman into a hug to hide her tears.

Emerald rushed over to see what was wrong when Melody freaked out. She caught a glimps of sSonja before she was pulled into a hug. She felt numb. salty tears burned her eyes and skin. Soon fury was raging though her veins, she started shaking from shock, grief, and anger. She pulled away from Melody and took a step back. "Jack stay with Melody. I'm going to warn Liam." she said, her voice raspy and sobbing.

"Warn?" asked Melody, tipping her head back to look into the taller woman's face. "Do you really think that either he or Gannet are in danger?" She didn't want to believe that Tessa-Rose had done this on purpose; after all, she was just as hurt. Maybe they had been attacked- yes, she was sure that was what had happened. Somebody had attacked the two of them, and Tessa-Rose had come back to warn the crew. "Yes," she said, changing her attitude. "You should. Make sure that he knows that there's someone out here who killed our navigator. Maybe ask Tessa-Rose who they were, or what they looked like, so that we can find them." She nodded firmly, sure that she had the right of it. They just had to find whoever did this and make sure that the mayor of the town knew what they had done.

[Sonja was killed by Tessa-Rose but nobody has any idea that's what happened. Liam and Gannet took Tessa-Rose to the infirmary because she was injured, and Melody, Jack, and Emerald just found Sonja's body. You can be at the infirmary, if you want.]

Not wanting to go look for Sonja- who was probably fine and wandering around the fields- Ryder had gone with the action and followed Liam and Gannet with Tessa-Rose. It seemed they were doing everything so he just followed them slowly, hands in his pockets and a minuscule smirk on his face- although he would argue that that's his normal face. The gunner looked down at Tess-Rose as she lay on the bed, casting a few sideways glances at Indigo. If the crew kept up on this injuring spree, they may never leave the coast- or the farms for that matter! Which in Ryder's mind would be about the worst thing possible. Well, other than helping Jack cook.

Jack heard the womens' voices and rushed over, feeling bile rise in his troat at the sight of the navigator. Swallowing it back down, he glanced at Emerald and Melody, only just catching the last of their conversation. "Be quick. We don't know what's out there." He whispered, moving towards Sonja's body. Focusing, he reached out an arm to touch her wrist. His other arm moved to her neck, and he checked for a pulse. There was none.
Standing and wipping his hands on his breeches, he was about to turn back around when he caugh sight of Tessa's pistol. His mouth fell open as he picked it up. "Why is this 'ere?" He wondered aloud.

Stepping forwards, Melody gently took the pistol from Jack's hands and looked at it. "Hasn't been fired," she commented, holding it up to show that the bullet roulette was full. "But-" with a grimace, she carefully turned it over and inspected the handle. "It's been used as a club," whispered the quartermaster in horror. "The grip is covered in blood; I'll bet this is what happened to her head." She shook her head, trying to fit this new discovery into her frame of mind. "Maybe," she said weakly, "Maybe their attacker got his hands on Tessa-Rose's gun? And... hit Sonja with it?" But she couldn't force her voice to sound convincing, even to herself. The evidence was certainly staking up against her third-person theory. The fight seemed to have been between the gunner and the navigator alone- but why? Why would either of them do a thing like this? Kneeling at Sonja's side, Melody put down the pistol and turned her former crewmember onto her back. Trying- and failing- to keep herself from crying, the quartermaster closed Sonja's eyes and held them for a moment so they would stay. Then, hesitatingly, she unhooked the navigator's cross necklace and wiped blood and dirt off of it. This done, she put it around her own neck and tucked it into her shirt. She looked at Sonja for a moment more, and suddenly she choked, almost vomiting when she noticed another detail. "Look at the wound on her head," she said, horrified. "Not only was she clubbed, but then something was... shoved in. Like a stick, or the barrel of the gun." She shook her head and crawled backwards on her knees, not trusting her legs to hold her up. "I've only seen torture like that once before, a long time ago. It was in... Tortuga, I think. In a jail." She closed her eyes, tears slipping down her ashen face. "Who would do something like this? And to Sonja..."

Jack winced and sank to the floor, breathing deeply. This was more than disgusting. Looking up, he pulled Melody down. "I'm not having you standing. If you faint, you could seriously injure yourself." He explained, turning his head away from the body of the navigator as bile rose once more in his throat.
