Alone
You ever been left alone in the woods on a full moon, no one near you, town miles away?
That is where I found myself that night, the night I died, I don't remember much. Only that it was christmas eve and the bells were being sounded for the countdown till christmas day. The bells would sound again precisely at midnight, the begining of christmas joy.
I was only six the day I died, I had my doll, Sukai. I remember climbing into bed as my mum kissed me goodnight, I remember the song she used to sing. It was just like any other night, except the knocking, that dreadful knocking. Maybe if I hadn't followed curious of where it lead. Maybe if I had stayed at home in my nice warm bed. That horrific sound, made with a stick.
I was just dosing off the warmth warming me, when I heard it the first knock, I put it to mother moving her table like she always does. Then the second knock came, I shot up in my bed.
"Mother?" I called out, I was greeted by silence.
I climbed out of bed as the knocking sound continued, it lead me down stairs, along the hall. To the door, I knew I wasn't allowed to go out at night, but curiousity got the better of me. I unlocked the door and slipped out into the bitter cold. Snowflakes fell to the ground, my feet were cold but I didn't care, I walked on into the town and out into the wood. Always following that knocking sound.
"Hello?" I called out, I was unsure if anyone would answer but my own echo. Silence. Still continued to follow, if only I turned back. I saw him then the little boy dressed in white tapping his stick off the floor. I gripped Sukai tight.
"Hello, are you lost?" I asked, he continued to tap.
"No, are you dead?" The little boy asked, I froze what did he mean dead?
"What do you mean?" I trembled, shivering with fear.
"Have you been killed, by the boy with no face?" He continued. I shook my head backing away. He turned toward me and I screamed, I was too far from town for anyone to hear. The boy's face was gone, just a skull. There was no smile, there was no tounge.
"You...have no face." I stated and the little boy laughed.
"He took it, I need a face, your so pretty." He chuckled and I ran, I heard him screech with rage I heard him run after me with inhuman speed. I couldn't find the town I was lost and alone. Alone with the boy with no face. I heard him laugh and clap his hands together with glee.
I sat down in the hollow tree, hugging Sukai so tight. I wanted my mother, I wanted to go home, that's where I died as the bells sounded for christmas day. In the hallow tree hiding from the boy with no face.
I still haunt the woods today, running for home away from the boy with no face. I want to go home for here I'm always alone. Alone with the boy with no face.
