You live in a world surrounded by ghosts. Some may see them but some may not. That is the mystery all are trying to unravel. Seventeen years ago, something happened to the universe that made the next generation be able to see and talk to ghosts. These special people are called post-shifters. People born before the shift are called pre-shifters. Ghosts are not able to communicate nor see each other but are able to see and talk to humans, pre or post-shifters. These ghost appear as a feint purple figure with all the features of a real human but have a purple hue. If a ghost becomes jealous, mad, or sad, and it becomes extreme, they can turn into shades. shades are a type of ghost that can't control what they do and are impossible to catch. There is a special tool that you can use to catch ghosts. It is called a BlackBox. If a ghost is caught inside a room that has a BlackBox turned on, it will be stuck in there until it is turned off or a door is opened. But they cannot enter a place with a BlackBox. The "Job" of post-shifters is to guide the ghosts into the next life. They achieve this by bringing the ghost into court and revealing the cause of death. That usually makes the ghost pass on unless they are turning shade. Ghosts can't enter a court house unless summoned by a crystal that has been attached to them. there are two weakness to ghosts. One is the colour red and the other is Obsidian. What will be your fate? Fame as a post-shifter, mystery as a pre-shifter, happiness as a ghost, or fear as a shade?

When a ghost is at court, there are two post-shifters that repeat what the ghost is saying so the pre-shifters can hear. There has to be two so the know what they are saying is true.
Also, post-shifters can see ghosts better in darker light. They can barely see them in fairly bright light and not at all in bright light. Unless outside.
I give full credit to Jeri Smith-Ready. She wrote the book Shade and the sequel Shift. That is where I got the idea.

Personality: Jessie is very outgoing and loves to meet new people. She tends to be hyper a bit but can control herself.
Description: She has red hair that looks a little Auburn. she has green eyes and is about 5 foot 7". Her hair is long long, about down to her collar bone, and it is slightly wavy. She has very light skin and loves the colour orange. You can usually see her wearing orange, or red.
Family: Her Aunt, Melanie. Her parents split up and she lived with her mother until she died and noow lives with her Aunt. She doesn't know where her father is.

Description: Melanie has pure red hair and blue eyes. Her hair is fairly short, about down to her chin and it's straight. She loves the colour green and will always wear that. Unless another colour looks good on her.

Other:Before the shift, Melanie could see and talk to ghosts. They used to be a white ghost with a white hue but she says they have become more "shady". ((More likely to become a shade.))
