I suppose you could think of it like that. But even then, you can go to jail/court for killing a robber, if it wasn't self defense. [They didn't have a weapon, etc.] And I'm sure you wouldn't be angry if your neighbor knocked on your door in need of something, and they are on your 'territory'.
And wolves don't always kill to survive-have you heard of surplus killing?
It's when wolves/other carnivorous animals kill faaar more than they can eat, then leave whole dead animals to rot.
It's quite an interesting subject, I suggest looking into it, I'd never know about it until recently. ^^

Let me comment to every of your comments individually
Sorry about your dog
Yes you did say they love to an extent
Do you have bonds with total strangers? I doubt it
Many people learn from mistakes
I doubt they would attack you. Many wolves are afraid of humans
If I went up to you and was rude to you would you form a positive bond with me? No. So think about that the other way around
Dogs have saved people on various occasions with out proper training to do so
Wolves simply aren't as complicated as humans. They don't necessarily have the brain power to think about species other then their own. And is that their fault?
There is no necessary proof on either side. Dogs or wolves can't tell us what it is like to be a wolf. But do you think your dog (sorry if this seems a little insensitive) only liked you for food or protection? I highly doubt it.
Now since wolves do love to an extent do you see when you kill them your killing there bonds? Yes as you said wolves do not grieve as we do but they do grieve.
As for that thing you said about insects I know I probably have killed insects before even though I try my best not to. You can only do what you can do.
Now as for the supurpuslus (I am horrible at spelling) killing there is a difference. Wolves kill animals they don't eat yes. But they take as much as they need and come back if they feel they need more. In fact many scavengers rely on wolves 'supurpulus' killing. Ravens (or crows I can't remember) are known to lead wolves to elk or other prey animals so once the wolves are finished they can eat. I guess you could say the same for hunters except is hunting wolves exactly necessary? I know gray wolves are somewhat overpopulated but there are other ways to help the population. I hope that didn't sound rude because when I quite often say things and end up with them coming out totally wrong.

Yes i suppose
I would consider a set of fangs and claws as weapons.
Wolves travel in packs, this has worked for centuries with wolves, and they are still very well populated.
Seeing as they have intelligent brains, smart enough of figuring out ways of a community.
They can be loving towards there pack as well.

On the subject of insects
They are highly populated
I can only speak for myself when I say that I try not to kill bugs, just simply shoo them away from me. without killing them
I'm sure i have killed some before, i'm only human
They creep me out xD
Lots of things do
We kill insects by accident as ourpawprints stated, sometimes we do it, and its not our fault.
With killing wolves that is not the case at all
We dont accidentally kill them

Just like i suppose wolves could try and do to one another but still at the same turn point we shouldnt be responsible for the death of other animals.
Life was completly alright before humans came, wolves were a tad more ppopulated and the whole world was alright
Adding humans into the mixture isnt going to make mroe wolves appear, its going to decrease there numbers

Ourpawprints-
Since this is just kind of going around in circles, I'll just reply to your post as a whole in my opinion-
Wolves do have bonds with each other, yes. But that doesn't mean they can't be hunted.
I'm sure many other animals have bonds, it's not only wolves. Wolves and humans alike kill many animals, wether they have bonds with anything or not doesn't really come to mind, because life and memory doesn't last forever, especially in animals. They tend to forget, or get over it [deaths] quicker than humans. Or they die quickly, animals don't tend to live long, sadly.
And then-if you believe this, that is-they get to be with their loved ones again, after death.
Over all, I think hunting can be a good thing, over population wise.
Animals die slowly because of over population, and hunting destroys that chance of dying slowly, and kills animals humanely.
I do support hunting, but I do not support poaching.
If an animal's population isn't stable, then no, it should not be hunted.
Just kind of my opinion though, I guess. ^^

Boo-
Before humans came.. what do you mean by that? I don't see how any species was here before the other, I guess that depends on religion, though.

And like I said-
that doesn't mean all hunters are bad, and ruining the world.
Wolf populations are stable and healthy, I'd think that would be something to be happy about.
And what I just don't get, is why wolves can hunt as much as they want, but humans can't?
We both do it for survival, and sometimes not or survival. [Humans=sport, wolves=surplus]

I believe I've explained on many occasions that many scavengers rely on what wolves hunt. It is not left to rot. Ravens are know to lead wolves to elk or other prey animals so they can eat what the wolves don't.
Of course memories doesn't last forever. And think about it, wolves have smaller brains and less complicated brains so of course they forget quicker then people. And also the average person doesn't have to fight for their survival (unless you count work or school) so wolves have to move on. And yes animals don't live as long as humans (minus some birds, turtles ect) but I don't see what that has to do with anything. Yes other animals probably do have bonds, not just wolves but this is a thread about wolves.
I just think that people should try to find a way to help the population that doesn't involve killing. But I guess that's coming from the person who would cry if she went to a slaughter house.

When I was little this dog showed up on our porch. We walked out and decided to take him in. He was a wolf dog. We named him Wolfie and took care of him. One day I went to feed him and he was howling how cool I thought. One day we saw him head toward the forest and didn't come back but we heard howling.

I, Tunnel Rat, will dedicate myself to helping wolves have a better future. I swear to give my all in protecting these beautiful creatures, and will help in anyway I can.

I support GRAY wolf hunting, as long as it's for controlling the population. :3

There!
Alright back to the debate!

@HamsterBug,
That was kinda random...
Haha, but very sad :\ i Apolagize if that sounded insenstive. But that is a sad stoy, it is rather interesting that you can still hear his howl *w*

@Wolf Princess-San,
I dont believeyou offened anyone. We all have our own opinions though :3

@Van,
By before humans came, i meant that life was fine before humans came onto earth, therefore population control isnt a problem.
I believe that wolves were around before humans
Maybe thats just my religon
But still, the worls was fine before humans therefore i think population isnt truly a problem
I apolagize if i have offended anyones religious beliefs!
