Friend B has been my friend for like 8 years, Friend A and I have a mixed up little history. Before recently, we've been friends twice for short periods of time, so I don't trust her as much. The three of us have been trying to make the friendship work, but one is always left out. (Guess it's my turn)

If you keep having trouble with A, maybe you should tell her that it isn't working, and maybe share ideas about how to fix it.

Short-term friends may be nice to have, but they may not be as trustworthy as the one you've had for 8 years. You don't know her as well, and vice versa. Maybe it's good to stick with friend B.

Friend A could be having troubles at home, and if Friend B has been a good friend to her for a while she may just trust her more and find it easier to talk to her. Though, that doesn't give her the right to be rude to you. If you normally have trouble getting along with her, you may want to rethink being her friend.

Friend B could feel caught between you two, wanting to be there for both of you which could be why she might be going back and forth between you.

Chances are this will blow over eventually. If Friend A won't tell you anything, you can just bring up Friend A's general attitude toward you recently and ask if anything is going on? It's easiest if you just ask casually as if you're only curious, otherwise she could become defensive.

If you want to become better friends with A, maybe hang out with her more and try to get to know her better. It'll make it easier for all three of you. Though Friend A has to try, too, if it's gonna work.
