I thought "Fancy Rat" was just the american/brittish name for pet rat?

I thought 'fancy rat' was the name given to domesticated rats, including dumbo rats, which are only nicknamed that because of their ear shape and size?
I'm probably wrong though, correct me if I am x3
Yes, "fancy rat" is what domesticated rats are called in the US and UK, but some people believe that "fancy rat" is a normal-eared rat and that Dumbo is another "breed" of rats. Maybe they saw it in a pet shop or something.

In the UK fancy rats and dumbo rats are different breeds. Pet shops will charge more for Dumbo's because of their ears and fany rats tend to be smaller and more fragile where as Dumbo's are more robust. I think that is just the way they have been bred here.

The new baby is fitting in great. She's following my girls, mimicking their behavior, and even using the rope I have in the cage. It seems I've been socializing her well, because she's taking food from people's hands, being very docile, she's seem to be freaking out a lot less when I take her out.
I just wish my sister would take care of her more, I don't want her to become my rat, especially since my sister bought her.
