Those rats are worth that because they are old and there aren't all
that many around, while there will always be people trying to complete
a collection that want them.

rare lists should be based on the actual rarity of the pet not on the demand .... so a rare zebra 09 would not be rarer than a very rare 09 ....just because lots of people want it doesnt make it worth more.

Demand plays a smaller role in the list than you must think. All the pets on the list are hard to acquire. You must be thinking of the Rare Christmas Zebra vs the actual Zebras? - There is a huge difference between them in how rare they are and to be perfectly honest with you, no Zebras are really that in demand so you can assume their place on the list is almost all rarity ouo b

Actually it does, it's a simple case of Supply and Demand.

Black Advents are the same rarity as the Blue Spotted October, but you would never get a Black Advent for even ten of those dogs. They are worth a lot more because a lot more people are trying to trade for them.

On a completely unrelated note, I am sad that the September rats did not make it onto the bottom of the list. I would personally not accept anything less than a low advent for one of my spares, but there's not really any demand for them I spose. Not much supply, but very little demand either.

The panda rats I was considering adding to the low advent list, but I'm not sure about the yellow/orange animal ones.

Well if the animal print rats would not be put on the list, what are they worth then? Just wondering. 08 rare? I've paid about mid-low advent worth for my panda rats and low (scarf dog level) advents for the animal print rats but people tend to throw those at me and especially now with all the re-releases, so I kinda think I might have been overpaying for them since everyone was so eager to trade for what I offered.
Can't really say much when it comes to other people, I try my best to follow rat auctions but pretty much only the july rats and ur rat get any bids from what I've seen. The other auctioned rats just fade away when there is no one bidding, without even ridiculous bids.

Edit: And haven't the September rats been available for adoption longer anyway? Which I would imagine puts down their value as there are more of them around, considering. They are rats of course and people probably didn't adopt them as much as other similar adoptables.

I am actually surprised the Emerald B-Wolf is where it is. I thought it would have made it up perhaps a little bit higher? Or is its rarity exaggerated a bit due to demand?

Because demand is mixed in as well as rarity label.

To explain it in a bit more detail, a pet might be extremely rare, but if only a few people really want it, then it might be easier to get than a pet that isn't as rare but has lots of people wanting it. :3 For example (with completely made-up numbers), if there were 100 zebras on the site and 1000 Sunjewels, the zebras would be significantly rarer than the Sunjewels. However, if only 50 people are really interested in getting zebras but 5000 people want a Sunjewel, it's going to be a lot harder to get a Sunjewel than a zebra, because the people who have Sunjewels want to keep them while lots of people who have zebras are willing to trade them, and there are a lot more people you have to compete with for the Sunjewels. It's supply-and-demand: zebras are low supply but low demand, while Sunjewels are low supply and high demand. This high demand drives up the value, resulting in the Sunjewel being worth more than the zebra even though it's technically not as rare. :3
