((No problem!^^))

Leonard made sure to cast a reassuring smile in Annetka's direction, as she looked pretty nervous as she shuffled into the classroom and searched for a seat. He waved her over, trying to attract the smallest amounts of attention as he pointed out an empty spot for her to sit down in the front. Now wonder it was empty, far too close to the teacher's watchful gaze. Jake's note went unnoticed for a moment, when Durante walked into the room the dark magician immediately began to follow the vampire with suspicious eyes. He was a bit of a hypocrite, considering his particular magic generally required blood and someone else's energy to work well, but he didn't generally trust anyone who survived off sucking someone's life away. Oh well, at least he didn't sparkle.

When he bent down to scribble a few notes, no doubt the tests would be easy but he still knew the benefits of NOT failing any classes, Leonard eventually noticed the piece of paper folded up and lying on his desk. Curious despite himself, he surreptitiously unfolded the note and skimmed over the words. "Appreciation shown." Amusing, she was being rather careful not to appear too grateful, which would appear vulnerable to some. Smiling a little, he cast out his mental awareness, careful not to alert the teacher by tapping into her own consciousness, and relayed a mental message to the Keplie. "Acknowledged." He was careful not to probe her mind, skimming thoughts just enough to give her his own little not-quite-a-reply but not enough to read anything. Besides, she'd probably block him, and that could hurt sometimes.

Kastor watched the girl go into the classroom, and he didn't exactly like it. Frustrated, he whipped around and glared at haley, causing the werewolf to shrink back, trembling as she remembered her bad past with the man. "Sorry to inconvenience you love, but does your friend not know my policy? I WAS talking to her, and I don't particularly like that tone. Rather arrogant. Now go in and tell the little lady that I will be speaking with her, all right darling?" He smiled sweetly at the girl, only proceeding to make her even more uncomfortable, until she nodded vigorously and dashed into class, immediately stumbling through the aisles and claiming the most 'secluded' spot available in the room. The look Haley cast Everine was venomous, obviously not happy that she'd had to speak to that man again, and she couldn't say she was dreading the moment she told her what their headmaster had said.

"'Back to class now'. You actually told her to do that?" Kastor's false smile vanished from his face the second that annoying dog had left, and for a moment he let his tone, thick with danger, cause the fat little man to shake for a moment before he deigned turn around and stare at him with his icy gaze. "You know, you may be a waste of human flesh, and quite a lot of it might I add, but you needn't go around chasing away my little pets. You can't train an animal without introducing it to its master, eh? So..." He took an unconcerned step forward, seemingly more interested in the sunlight shining through the large window and heating up the room-one of the reasons he wasn't wearing the top part of his suit, another being that he liked showing off all his tattoos-than in his colleague. "I try to be a good owner, but I can't teach the, to roll over and play dead if you try to do my job for me." "Hey, Mike, calm down-I was just telling her to get to class. You always complain about attendance-" The man began to stutter out in his defense, wondering what he'd done to get his boss so mad. "DO NOT TALK BACK TO ME!" A few staff members winced at the high volume Kastor had used, and most decided it would be a good time to find something else to do. "Maybe I'm just not teaching them right. Tell me, how do you discipline an unruly dog?" The ex-marine made it fairly clear that he wasn't talking about the students at that moment.

{{ But chocolate and coffee is the ONLY way to live! xD -giggles at the "at least he didn't sparkle"- }}

She tensed as something--she recognized the 'taste' of the dark wizard--brushed her mind. Her teeth clicked and she considered throwing him out of her head, but noticed that he was being careful not to pry. She didn't relax per say, but she didn't block him. If she remembered correctly, Hino had told her once that it hurt to have a mind lash out. Not a telepath herself and with no desire to acquire the ability, Jake accepted it as the truth and ventured no farther. So as a gift--the gift of Knowledge--she dredged up a few pleasant memories of old, old Ireland--back before it was even Ireland yet--and held them at the forefront of her mind for him to see. She'd still give him the necklace since she'd already decided to, but with that she would be even. So what if it wasn't really even? It was a debt repaid nonetheless.

Her skin jumped like a horse's when a fly hits it, tilting her head to hear someone yelling. Screeching more like. His voice was more annoying than the teacher's. He sounded quite mad--and not just in the "angry" sense of the word--and she was reminded of some immortals who went sick with age, though she was almost certain this man's sickness had nothing to do with too many centuries of watching people die. No this man was probably just inherently crazy. Insane. If these were more normal times--well, if these were more normal times she'd just ignore him. Eating a crazy man might make her crazy, and she had not intention of becoming one of those uncontrollable fools, those banes upon the fae who brought far too much attention to the Other of the sentient beings. Human eyes were so watchful lately. Her own eyes moved back to following the teacher's lesson, using only half her mind to do so. It was by no means a difficult lesson. The only thing she ever had trouble with really was math, and geography since she had different names--the proper names--for each place. It was not that she was exceptionally smart, as far as faes went, it was just that she retained what information she was given very well. Sometimes. She could not for the life of her remember the name of the family who'd lived by her lake had been. Something native American, but beyond that she had no idea.

Hino wiggled a bit in her seat, energetic and excited and boredboredbored! but she didn't actually move much, just twitched a little every now and then, hiding behind that happy little smile. How could humans stand years of this...stupid ritual? She could only imagine that a real school was more entertaining than this. She pulled out a pen and doodled while the teacher talked, unable to focus on the dull words. She wanted to meet people! She wanted friends and 'pals' and 'buddies' and, and--ohlookavampire! A little purr-like sound escaped her, nearly inaudible, and she watched him with fascination. As far as she could tell, vampires were nothing really special, yet they were one of the most well-known creatures among humans. Jake had told her that, a long time ago, the fae hardly even differentiated between vampires and humans, save for them being slightly more powerful. But vampires were not especially dangerous or interesting. At least not to something like a kelpie or, say, a wizard. A dark wizard. How lovely. How quaint. How fascinating. Her attention darted around for a while, doodle forgotten, as she examined each person in the room with great interest, ignoring whatever incident was going on with yelling-man not so far away. With her hawk-like eyes, she noticed each insignificant detail of her new peers and made notes about them, both mental and physical. She even sketched a few of the mroe interesting ones.

{{ Hino's character is hard to portray right without her actually interacting with someone. ^^; She wasn't supposed to come off as being so....hyper. -cough- But it's almost 3 am sooo...too lazy to really fix it. Sosorry. But Jake's came out nicely enough I think. Blame my cat. she's making me all super comfy. <3 }}

Annetka glanced at the teacher as she turned to the board, no longer looking towards the students. Her firsts instincts were to get to the seat before the teacher snapped about her being late or new. She slid in a bit quicker then was suddenly, in the blink of an eye, in her jaguar form, then in the seat that Leonard had pointed out to her – as a human again, of course. Her heart beat quicker as she glanced up towards the teacher, hoping she wasn’t noticed as she placed the notebook on her table and brushed a bit of her hair back.

The Canaima breathed a soft sigh and reached in her back for a pencil, then found one as she leaned forward to note a couple things down that the lecturer had already mentioned. After the small dispute with the other students, that is. It was already somewhat difficult to hear from the seat that was so far away from the board, and she had to make sure her hair wasn’t blocking her ears. Compared to her jaguar ears, Annie’s hearing as a human was less efficient, which is why you could often find a small, spotted ear tucked under her hair on her head. She pressed her hand to the desk, feeling the tiniest vibrations; whether it was the teacher’s voice, a students pencil squished to the paper as he or she wrote, or it could even be the occasional tap of someone’s foot who was in the front of the room. She turned her head to look from Leonard to the teacher again, but then she wondered… Is she even human? Or…

OOC: x..x’ I feel brain dead, blah… This might not make any sense, but any who, I dun feel like writing anything more.

((Sorry I haven't posted much. I had writer's block and have been too lazy to read all the posts))

Laila walked throught the empty hallway. Wait, empty msut mean everyone is somewere. Oh yeah, this is a school. Shoot! That means I'm late for class, Laila thought stopping in her tracks. She then thought for a minute trying to remember where her class room was. After remembering she calmly walked over to the class room. Even though she was late she was in no hurry. She silently walked in and crept to the back of the room. There she took a seat and stared blankly at the front of the room wondering if the teacher noticed her. Though she was more concentrated on figuring out a way to get a lake at the school.

((Sorry that it's kind of short. I still have a little bit of writer's block))

(('Tis okay, happens to all of us. ^^ Uh, blackninja, basically everyone's in History class, everyone's coming in late, and the headmaster is screaming at one of the teachers in front of the classroom.))

The teacher glared intently at all her students, noting angrily that at least half of them were late to her class. That was it- the next one who walked through was going to be in as much trouble as she could convince Mike they deserved! "This is still history right? I didn't miss it all?" Dammit. The frustrated instructor whipped around and practically roared at Vaan o take a seat, having totally forgotten about the spirit and his frequent illnesses. Never mind then, the next person she could actually yell at for this was going to be in trouble, and that was that! "Now shut up and take your notes, all of you! I want a two page essay on all this tomorrow. Next time come at the scheduled time! Now, tell me, what do we know about the Meidici family of ancient Florence? This should be easy enough even for all of you, come on, someone out with it already." The woman grumbled, glaring at them angrily.

Leonard finished with the notes written on the dirty old blackboard-not that there were many, she'd ben too busy yelling so far to write much of anything- and glanced up at all the other students. Jake actually responding to his mental call caused him to set up a mental block by instinct, before he remembered that she couldn't read his thoughts or send hers, just think what she wanted him to see. After that he'd complimented the landscape of old Ireland, amusing himself by doing so in Gaelic, not English. The girl who had come in with her, definitely fire based but he couldn't be exact without a moment to "study" her essence, seemed to be happily staring at the students, examining them in a far too obvious fashion. Cute. Annetka seemed to be the only one paying much attention other than himself, and he was seriously contemplating sending out a full-on mental shout to all the students that they should be doing the same before he reminded himself sharing notes would be a much simpler solution. Another student had entered, so calmly it was almost funny, and he spared her a few curious glances before deciding he'd be an idiot to trust her openly, no doubt she was some sort of faerie or nature like spirit, the kind who tricked you than ripped you apart. The other two he knew well, Haley-an eccentric werewolf who he'd considered asking to join him- and Vaan-a pessimistic spirit who outright refused to take part in any plans.

The aforementioned spirit pressed his palms to his ears, trying to block out the loud noise the headmaster was making outside while taking his notes. It would work better if he had three hands, but as he only had two, he put up with the shouting long enough to scribble a few almost readable words onto his paper before blocking out all that sound again. It was giving him a headache, and he wished the teacher would close the door before they ended up having to listen to that fat old idiot screaming when he ended up getting the same corporal punishment the students got for being "arrogant". Vaan was actually tempted to ask, but their teacher was looking so pissed off that he just sat and willed the clock to hurry up and end the class, he'd missed most of it anyway. What did they have next? PE? Math? He had no idea, it wasn't like the classes were that important, or that long either. Maybe 4 hours a day dedicated to proving they weren't total morons, and therefore not ending up a unfortunate victims of physical research into the complicated depths of their kind. Ugh. What was wrong with these people anyway?

Laila noticed she was getting a few curious glances from the students. She figured that would be normal since she was pretty new here. She especially noticed glances from one guy (Leonard). She returned him a "What do you want?" mixed in with a "leave me alone" look. She then fixed her gaze to the board. She didn't need to take notes since she already knew all of this information from reading the textbooks that she "borrowed" from her younger victims. Laila then noticed another creature of the water (Vaan). She figured that he was most likely as misrable out of the water as she was. In the water Laila was a dark, beautiful, goddess like being. Out of the water she was more of an emo barbie. She sighed and looked around anylizing the room. She didn't like this school and wanted to know as much as she could about it without raising suspicion.

Leonard, amused, returned her gaze steadily, smiling a little just to show she wasn't getting to him before shrugging in response to her annoyed look. An "I don't want anything, you're being paranoid" sort of look, wich was easier to get across than he thought it would be. After all, he had only glanced at her for a few seconds before scanning the room again. Yeah, he was amusing himself at her expense, but he didn't like beings like her, even if he couldn't be 100% certain what she was at the moment. Just sort of... predatory, not to mention the jar of water she was carrying around made it seem more and more likely that she was one of those mother-nature girls who thought they could get away with anything by saying 'they deserved it for not being plants or fish'. Basically anyway, he'd yet to actually get that response from one of them... but some had come pretty darn close.

Vaan was thinking something pretty similar, though he really didn't care what Leila was or not. As a water spirit he could tell when something else connected to his element was around, and this girl was definitely water related. Also, there was water IN the room. He sort of longed to get up and find out why the hell it was there, but at the same time he was terrified of being anywhere near the substance. It was odd, a water spirit who feared water, but after all he'd put up with because of hiding in those damn rivers even a shower made him imagine weird symptoms.

Re: .:Mythic Dawn{Fantasy Romance/Action RP}Semi-literate:.

Postby OneSmartChicken » Sat Jan 30, 2010 6:17 pm

Jake couldn't resist smiling at the familiar 'feel' of gaelic words. She appreciated it more than he knew--or perhaps he did know, since as far as she could tell he was still in her mind. Though really she had no way to be certain without blocking him which seemed rude. She had nothing to hide from him at the moment. Her name was safely tucked away in a fortress inside her mind, along with the seventeen true names she'd 'collected' in case she needed to call in a...favor someday. She glanced towards Hino, thoughts warming and fluttering with protectiveness at the sight of Hino's sweet, delicate little form. She didn't look like much, no matter how you looked at her. All soft and gentle and sugary sweet. Like a milk chocolate bunny, but she'd never melt in the heat.

Her nostrils flared and she tilted her head curiously, the predator inside of her perking up curiously. When she was out of water too long, she'd noticed, the fae in her tended to dose. But it could smell water, brine and bracken and all the delicious in-betweens. It rumbled appreciably in her chest, a sound that never quiet made it beyond a vibrating feeling where her heart ought be; apparently she had two 'hearts,' according to the x-rays, and her blood was silver whilst in her veins, though she bled red enough. She was pretty sure the scientists were on something though, or were making something out of nothing. She didn't really think about it much, just a brief foray in that direction, fuzzy and distant, then concentrating on Laila. And little Vaan.

Water, she thought absently with reflexive longing. She missed her lake. Why had she ever helped those damn humans? Right; because she had become soft in her old age. Bitterness tainted the longing and she made a face, narrowing her eyes into a puzzled expression as she eyed Laila. One've the nixie, she decided with a bit of disappointment. Such useless little things, though she'd met several kelpies who found them quite lovely to live with. They tended to be non-obtrusive and decent conversationalists, plus they didn't eat the humans they drowned so it was a good fall-back plan for hungry kelpies. But she'd never been particularly fond of them. She wasn't fond of nymphs or sirens or anything of the sort either, though she preferred the nixies to most of those since the others could be a rather irritating lot. When she'd first smelled the water, at first she'd hoped for something more interesting. Like another kelpie. Although, logically, that could be disastrous. Kelpies tended not to mix well. But if it was a nice old kelpie with a strong sense of self-preservation, maybe they could have helped each other out. But alas, it was a nix. She pursed her lips, then sighed and propped her cheek up on her hand, tilting her head to watch the board with half-glazed eyes of boredom. She knew the answer to the question, for the most part; she'd never been to Italy, surprisingly enough, and didn't know a terrible amount about their history. But she could tell the teacher a thing or two that wouldn't be in the history books. The corner of her lip quirked at the thought. She decided not to draw any attention. Whatsoever. If she could help it. Which meant a heavy dose of neutrality with just enough of a sprinkling of interest that the teacher would be neither offended nor suspicious. She considered taking notes, noticed Hino had started writing some, and decided to just jack her notes later. She'd play good student in the next class. History was far too boring for that, particularly since most of the history books left out a great deal of information, and even got things wrong. Humans were so stupid. They thought that their records were so very accurate, forgetting their own tendency for putting a flourish on yesterday's history. They never recorded anything right. Unlike the fae, who either recorded it to a 'T' or, more likely, never wrote it down at all and left it up to the old fae to remember their past. Old ones like Jake.

{{ ...-more of Jake's thinking-too-much nonsense... =.=;; I hope that came out sensibly. I'm sorta zoning. Saw my brother for the first time in over a year, and...well, it was fun after ten minutes or so when he started acting more like he always had but... -shrug- Y'know. There was just those moments when it was like he was a stranger. It made me sorta... shuddery. Bah, but it's probably mostly my imagination. I tend to idolize my brother in my memories anyway. He probably just seems different. }}
